1. There are 6.5 million self-identified members of the Caribbean diaspora residing in the United States. 2. In 2009, the United States was home to 3.5 million immigrants from the Caribbean, who accounted for 9 percent of the total foreign-born population. 3. Almost three-quarters of all Caribbean immigrants entered the United States between 1980 and 1999. 4. One-third of Caribbean immigrants in America resided in the New York-Northern New JerseyLong Island, and Philadelphia metropolitan areas.

5. The Caribbean born made up 39.8 percent of all immigrants residing in Florida in 2009, and 24.1 percent of all immigrants residing in New York. Additionally, more than one in ten immigrants in Connecticut (17.2 %), Massachusetts (14.5%), New Jersey (14.4%), and Pennsylvania (11.2%) were Caribbean. 6. Caribbean immigrants were more likely than immigrants overall to have graduated from high school in the US. 7. The growing size and geographic distribution of the Caribbean/American traveler is opening up new business possibilities. 8. Caribbean women outnumbered Caribbean men in 2009 by 15%.
