Scenario A
Please read this scenario in full first then apply the Getting Things Done methodology on how to prioritize, defer, eliminate, assign and do these daily tasks. When applicable try to use your timer and Todoist to organize/categorize/prioritize tasks and focus on doing them.
You are a Community Health worker who arrived to your desk in the morning: You logged into your email inbox and found 30 unread messages; 2 of them are from your supervisor 1 is marked urgent and the other one is a task for next month’s event. Also one email from a partner organization you were waiting to hear from them about a referral you made about a client. You have 3 Post-it notes on your desk that you left from yesterday. One is Family Doctor who is accepting new patients and it needs to be circulated to Primary Health Care department. Another note which you can’t read and last note is your dentist appointment. You checked your phone’s voice messages and found 2 messages; the first one is from a client saying: “Can you call me back for an urgent matter?”. The second message is from a partner organization accepting your client into a program you referred them to. You have a team meeting coming up in the afternoon. You are expected to present your new case study about your clients and a report about the number of clients whom you work with the active and non-active one. You need to finish up charting home visits with clients from yesterday. You have a follow up meeting with a client by the end of the day. Client expects to get information about the healthcare system and get updates about referrals you promised to make to outside organizations
What do you do when you are focused on doing a task and you get interrupted by a coworker who asks a question or by an incoming phone call?
Scenario B Please read this scenario in full first then apply the Getting Things Done methodology on how to prioritize, defer, eliminate, assign and do these daily tasks. When applicable try to use your timer and Todoist to organize/categorize/prioritize tasks and focus on doing them.
You are a Community Health worker who is going on a home visit to see clients: You need to have the consent documents ready for clients to sign. You drove your car to the client’s apartment building and parked in a paid visitor parking spot. You need to submit parking receipt and report mileage to your supervisor for reimbursement. They are a family of 4 who arrived to Canada 2 months ago. They do not speak English or French. You did your “program” assessment and found out that: A daughter has seen an Audiologist to get hearing test done. The Audiologist prescribed hearing aids. Audiologist applied Ontario’s Assistive Devices Program coverage but still couple of thousands dollar not covered. The clinic did not ask client to get their Interim Federal Health Coverage (IFHP) information. Their IFHP is expiring in 2 months. The mother is socially isolated and you need to connect her to programs close to her house where she can socialize. The father is mentally traumatized because of war and needs support in that front. He is waiting to hear back for a psychiatric appt. You need to refer him to appropriate programs. Your phone have received multiple missed calls and voice messages while at the visit. You are required according to your Centre’s policy to chart this home visit and to design an action plan for this family.
