It is a “one-stop shop” portal/website offering a wide range of e-mental health services and supports at no cost to Canadians. WTC is funded by Health Canada and was created as a response to the mental health needs of Canadians in the wake of COVID-19 2
Services include: Immediate crisis support when needed Print and video information on mental health and substance use issues
What is included?
Mental health self-assessment and monitoring Access to self-directed virtual programs
WTC is designed from a Stepped Care model which provides a variety of resources at different levels (steps).
Moderated peer to peer support group Virtual group coached anxiety treatment E-courses, including drop-in mindfulness class Access to counselling support by phone or text 3

Collaborative system transformation process for developing, adjusting, delivering & monitoring recovery-oriented programs, while promoting client responsibility, autonomy & resilience Steps based in part on readiness for change Includes face-to-face (prior to pandemic) and/or online components to meet clients “where they are”

What is Stepped Care 2.0? Solution-focused, strengths-based interventions applied first Trial and error approach is transparent so that clients and providers can fail forward together Weekly 50-minute therapy is targeted for only for those who are interested in engaging in the challenging work

Not a progressive, pathways, or clinical staging SC model; minimal assessment unless necessary; instead SC2.0 is flexible, adaptive / self-corrective, and based on client preference 6
SC2.0 Open Access Step 9 – Acute care, system navigation & Advocacy
Service users have same-day, multi-modal access for care aimed at identifying & addressing a targeted need. The outcome could be no further service, a return visit initiated by the service user, or suggestion / recommendation of services within stepped care system. The expectation is for a mutually agreed upon outcome.

Flattening the Mental Illness Curve
As with COVID-19 health promotion (masks, handwashing, physical distancing), low intensity upstream, pophealth programming flattens the mental illness curve
