Dr. Shawn Wilson has been named the first African American president in the history of the 107-year-old American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). Dr. Wilson, who served as AASHTO’s 2020-2021 vice president, has been the Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development since January 11, 2016. Today, Dr. Wilson manages a workforce of 4,200 employees and a $2.7 billion budget.
