of Japan, the Government of Sweden and the Asian Development Bank. Its mission is to build climate resilience of vulnerable human systems, ecosystems and economies through mobilisation of knowledge and technologies to support adaptation capacity building, policy-setting, planning and best practices. APAN is facilitated by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Asian Institute of Technology – UNEP Regional Resource Center for the Asia Pacific (AIT-UNEP RRC.AP), and the Institute for Global Environment Strategies (IGES) in partnership with other key actors in the region.

Background Located just outside of Tokyo, Japan, the Research Center for Climate Change Adaptation was founded in 2011 at Keio University to serve as a connection between research and practice in the field of climate change adaptation. Keio University was founded in 1858 and has a long history of taking on environmental issues. RCCCA is part of a large initiative undertaken by the Japanese government to support development of environmental leadership in Asia and Africa. Funded by Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology (MEXT), the RCCCA at Keio University aims to become a global forum that can be used to support and

to develop an expanding group of environmental leaders. In 2011, RCCCA was selected to act as the North East sub-regional node for the Asia Pacific Adaptation Network.

Recent Activity Network building The Environmental Innovators program hosts an annual symposium devoted to Adaptation and resiliency building, bringing together researchers, students, academics, government representatives, businessmen and practitioners.
