Members of the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce shared stories of business expansion, bonuses for their workers and stable revenue at a Tuesday afternoon roundtable discussion co-hosted by the Nevada Republican Party and President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign. The discussion was led by former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt, who said it would be the first of many meetings across the state designed to flesh out the stories of economic prosperity under the president. He said Nevada has seen 117,000 new jobs created and a record-low unemployment rate since Trump took office.“The president has cut more regulations the last few years than any president has ever cut in this period of time, and I think we’re all grateful for that,” Laxalt told the chamber members. Jan-Ie Low, owner of SATAY Thai Bistro & Bar, said tax cuts and deregulation under the Trump administration have allowed her to hire painters and electricians rather than asking her brother to find makeshift fixes when something breaks at the restaurant. She’s been able to hire more employees and offer bonuses for the first time since sinking her 401(k) into the small business venture in 2005. Before Trump, she said, the business struggled just to make payroll — let alone turn a profit. Dr. Sonny Ho started his chiropractic practice in 1999 and struggled through lean years until recently. “The last three years have been my best ever,” Ho told the group. The Republican tax plan — specifically its qualified business income deduction and real estate breaks — have even allowed Ho to open a second office. Wong, a retired McDonald’s franchise owner, said he eventually had to sell his restaurants in order

to protect the retirement fund he used to buy them in 2007. He said the Affordable Care Act and related regulations alone led to $45,000 in additional annual costs per restaurant. In an interview after the event, Chamber President Sonny Vinuya said the discussion was not an endorsement of the president but rather an opportunity to share his members’ successes and relay the facts.Laxalt told the Review-Journal that Trump has kept his promises of higher pay and better jobs for Nevadans. He said both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence will visit the state several times in the coming year to help combat what he said was the notion spread by scores of Democratic

presidential hopefuls that the current administration is not helping working people.

July 24, Democrats Have Subpoenaed Robert Mueller To Testify DESPITE THE SPECIAL COUNSEL AND DOJ FINDING NO COLLUSION AND NO OBSTRUCTION, DEMOCRATS ARE CONTINUING THEIR THEATRICS BY CALLING ROBERT MUELLER TO TESTIFY ON THE RUSSIA INVESTIGATION On July 24, Special Counsel Robert Mueller will testify before the House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees concerning the Russia investigation despite Democrats openly admitting Mueller will not reveal any new “dramatic information.” In April 2019, Special Counsel Robert Mueller released the results of his two-year investigation into Russia’s election interference and has found that the Trump campaign did not coordinate or conspire with the Russian government in its election-interference activities.Based off the evidence provided by the Special Counsel’s Office, the Department of Justice

cleared the President of any wrongdoing concerning allegations of obstruction of justice. The White House fully cooperated with the Special Counsel’s investigation and provided “unfettered” access to campaign and White House documents and directed senior aides to testify freely. The Mueller investigation was exhaustive and conclusive, lasted 675 days and is estimated to have cost almost 40 million dollars. 0% percent of American voters said the Russia investigation was the most important issue to their vote in 2020. WHILE DEMOCRATS CONTINUE THEIR WITCH HUNT, THEY IGNORE THE FACT THAT THE OBAMA/BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ALLOWED RUSSIA TO ENGAGE IN A “SWEEPING AND SYSTEMIC” INTERFERENCE CAMPAIGN IN THE UNITED STATES Beginning in 2014, the Russian government engaged in a “sweeping and systemic” interference campaign in the United States through the government sponsored Internet Research Agency and the Russian Army Main Intelligence Directorate, the GRU.In February 2014, an intelligence source informed the Obama/Biden Administration that Russia was planning a wide-ranging campaign to attack Western institutions. Despite two-years of advance knowledge, the Obama/Biden Administration issued just a public warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin and only “symbolic” sanctions for Russia’s cyber meddling. Democrats and Obama Administration officials agreed that the Obama/Biden Administration “choked” in its handling of the Russian hacking. In the past, Biden pushed for the Obama Administration’s disastrous Russia “reset” policy and personally sought to cozy up to Vladimir Putin.

Nightmarket of Galilee South Community Church Raises Money for Children’s Amusement Facilities (COCNEWS) On the afternoon of August 10th Saturday at 5pm galilee soul food hall for children’s amusement facilities to raise money for the night food bazaar. Ten different food stalls were arranged inside and outside the church, including Taiwanese snacks, local tastes and exotic cuisine, which attracted nearly 800 or 900 people to participate in the event. The preparations are led by pastor Paul Chen, and the members of the congregation who are hosting the food stalls are doing their best to attract diners. The head of our newspaper club was also invited to attend, tasted many delicious food. Noodles were first in the intestine noodles, salted fried chicken and grilled Taiwanese sausage were second, and roasted corn and mochi were third. In

fact, the ranking is only the personal opinion of the chief, but also some readers think malatang is the first taste. Everyone ate with joy. Even though it was a long line, it was worth it. The food sold at the night market raised more

money than anyone expected. Therefore, pastor Chen and all the righteous workers in galilee are grateful for your generosity and support.”

Congratulations to ILF and its founder Chiling Tong on its 20th anniversary. Along with Norm Mineta, I have been an honorary co-chair of the ILF when I was in the private sector. In the 20 years since its founding, ILF has flourished and offered so many enriching experiences in mainstream America to so many Asian Pacific American young people in their career and personal development. The ILF galas are always such wonderful occasions to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Asian Pacific Americans to our country. They are also so impressive because they are attended by so many distinguished leaders from across the country who are forging new paths for Asian Pacific Americans in their communities. Tonight is no exception – and I want to also congratulate the Asian Pacific American leaders from the public, private and non-profit sectors being recognized tonight. And many thanks to Mary Millben for delighting us again this year with such a beautiful rendition of “America the Beautiful.” As you know, throughout my career in public service, I have worked to help Asian Pacific Americans—and other traditionally underserved communities—access opportunities in mainstream America. And I have made consistent efforts to highlight the contributions of Asian Pacific Americans. This year on May 10, 2019 at Promontory Summit, Utah, I had the unique privilege to fully acknowledge and recognize the contributions and sacrifices of the 12,000 laborers of Chinese heritage who helped build one of America’s greatest pieces of infrastructure: the transcontinental railroad -- 150 years after its completion. It was especially noteworthy that this tribute was made by the first Secretary of Transportation of Chinese ancestry. The achievements of these 12,000 Chinese laborers was even more poignant given that they did not have the opportunity to bring their families with them or to become citizens of the United States. America has moved forward since those days to become the diverse country it is today. The most recent estimate shows the Asian Pacific American com-

munity is nearly 7% of our country’s population—or about 23 million strong. As our community has grown in numbers, we are increasingly contributing to the economic vitality and cultural diversity of our country. As you may know, our economy is booming. The tax cuts and deregulatory policies of this Administration have jump started the economy. The U.S. economy grew 3.1 percent in the first quarter of 2019. The national unemployment rate of 3.7 percent is about the lowest in 50 years. The unemployment rate within the Asian American community is at 2.1 percent, the lowest ever since this figure was recorded. Asian Pacific Americans have branched out to every field in mainstream America. And Asian Pacific Americans have also distinguished themselves in military service. On January 29, 2019, I participated in a moving ceremony conferring the Congressional Gold Medal on the Chinese American veterans of World War II. The progress made by Asian Pacific Americans in mainstream America is a testament to the values our community holds dear, especially our emphasis on strong families, hard work and the value of a quality education. As we authenticate and celebrate our contributions to this country, let me mention an issue which I have heard from many Chinese Americans across all social and economic strata and that is the growing anxiety at the specter of ethnic profiling. As the relationship between the U.S. and China becomes more complex, many Chinese-Americans are growing increasingly anxious about how their ethnicity affects their acceptance in the Unit-

ed States. My own family was recently the subject of malicious political partisan attacks that would not have occurred if our last name were “Smith” and if we came from England. I’ve been criticized by the “mainstream” media for including my father at some official appearances and social or ceremonial events, and for attending certain non-governmental events in my personal capacity with my father. Occasions such as these are not unusual for Cabinet members. This also reflects a deliberate mischaracterization of our Asian value of traditional respect for our parents - filial piety. As our community grows in numbers, we have the chance to explain and inform others of our Asian values. I used to be reluctant or shy to do so, in an effort to blend in. Perhaps it’s age or maybe it’s because our country is becoming more diverse which is more emboldening…. I have a few words: 1) Be strong. 2) I will always fight for our community. 3) Our community must not be afraid in asserting our contributions to America, and in sharing our cultural values and how they make our country stronger. So kudos to you for being here tonight, and to what you do in your communities to highlight the talents of our community and its contributions to mainstream America. Good night.

Mr. Zhong Zhen Shan - A True Tai Chi Grandmaster From China Taught a Workshop In Denver Mr. Zhong Zhen Shan, a true worldwide grandmaster of Tai Chi from China, taught Tai Chi workshops in Denver, CO on the weekend of August 16th and 17th, 2019. Mr. Zhong grew up and study and practice Tai Chi at his hometown Guangfu, which was once called Guang Ping Fu, in Yongnian County, the Province of Hebei in China. Yang Lu Chan and Wu Yu Xiang founded their family styles (Yang style and Wu style) of Tai Chi there in the middle of the 19th century. Since then the town has become famous as the cradle of Tai Chi (taijiquan) and many great Tai Chi masters have come out of that area. Mr. Zhong Zhen Shan is one of the most influential. Mr. Zhong has been invited to teach in different countries for world Tai Chi symposiums and events. His indoor disciples Mr. Zhijun Xu from Des Moines, IA and Mr. Ke Zang (Dr. Zang) from Denver, CO arranged Mr. Zhong’s trip from China to the U.S. and assisted his teaching. During this trip, Mr. Zhong taught workshops in three cities including Des Moines, IA, Denver, CO and Seattle, WA. Mr. Zhong Zhen Shan and Mr. Ke Zang and their students also performed Tai Chi with Flume at Red Rocks Amphitheater for Flume’s 2019 world tour on the nights of August 6th and 7th, 2019. U.S. Economy Added 164,000 New Jobs in July Nominal Average Wages Increased 3.2 Percent Over the Past 12 Months

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released its monthly Employment Situation Report, showcasing robust employment and an acceleration in wage growth. Total nonfarm payroll employment in July increased by 164,000 jobs, in line with market expectations (165,000). Including revisions for the months of May and June, the average pace of job growth has been a vigorous 187,000 jobs per month over the past year and 165,000 jobs so far in 2019, which is higher than CBO or the Federal Reserve anticipated for this cycle. The 12-month average remains above the 2017 average of 179,000 jobs gained per month. In total, the economy has added over 6.2 million jobs since the President was elected. The July jobs report revealed yet another month of strong job growth. Since the President was elected, job gains have surpassed 100,000 jobs in 29 of the 32 months. The average job growth over the past 6 months is a healthy 141,000 jobs. Considering the unprecedented length of the expansion, job gains are strong. In July 2019, just over 6 million people were unemployed, compared with more than 14 million in July 2009 at the beginning of the economic expansion. Given low unemployment, monthly job gains of this size indicate that the labor market is truly flourishing. Education and health services industry led job growth in July adding 66,000 jobs. The professional and business services sector saw the second largest job growth, an increase of 38,000 jobs. Manufacturing jobs increased as well, gaining 16,000 jobs in July, including 7,200 jobs in motor vehicle and parts manufacturing. Since the President’s election, the manufacturing industry has added 523,000 jobs and

added 157,000 jobs in the past 12 months. In July, wages continued to grow as well. Nominal average hourly earnings rose 3.2 percent over the past 12 months, marking the 12th straight month that year-over-year wage gains were at or above 3 percent (see figure). Prior to 2018, nominal average hourly wage gains had not reached 3 percent in over 10 years (since April 2009). Nominal wage growth has accelerated since the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). When taking inflation into account, there is evidence that real wages are also growing. Based on the most recent Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index data from June, inflation in the past year was 1.4 percent, and based on the most recent Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) price data from June, the inflation in the past year was 1.6 percent (July inflation data is not yet available for either series). A separate household survey released by BLS shows that the unemployment rate remained at 3.7 percent in July, making July the 17th consecutive month at or below 4 percent. The labor market also continues to benefit all Americans. The African American unemployment rate remained at 6.0 percent, just above the historic low of 5.9 percent set in May 2018, and the African-American teen unemployment rate dropped to its lowest rate since the series began in 1972. The U-6 unemployment rate, which is a broader measure of underutilization in the labor market that includes those looking for work, marginally attached to the labor force, and part-time for economic reasons, hit 7.0 percent, its lowest point since 2000. The labor force participation rate—which includes people who are working and those looking for

work—edged up by 0.1 percentage point to 63.0 percent and is 0.3 percentage point above the rate when the President was elected in November 2016. The labor force participation rate for prime-age adults (ages 25-54), which largely avoids the demographic effects of the aging population, decreased by 0.2 percentage point to at 82.0 percent—0.6 percentage point above its rate in November 2016. The Trump Administration’s pro-growth policies continue to pull workers off the sidelines and foster a prosperous economy. Despite the continued low unemployment rates over the past year, there may still be workers on the sidelines, a situation economists refer to as “labor slack.” Because labor market slack still exists, employment can continue to rise and the economy can continue to grow as workers reenter the labor force. In July, 73.8 percent of workers entering employment came from out of the labor force rather than from unemployment. The July employment data demonstrate that the American economy remains strong, with a consistently low unemployment rate, strong wage growth, and robust job gains.
