Apg sg SYSTEM Glass The APG SG system combines safety with the highest standards in glass manufacturing and processing. The whole system connects its different materials through an extraordinary design, manufacturing and installation standard in order to secure a fully coordinated performance, functionality and long life durability manufactured by APG International. The Glass is one of the major key materials where the APG SG system is based on high end quality. All glass is exclusively processed at APG´S certified system partner White Aluminum Enterprises LLC in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. The glass processing includes washing, cutting, drilling, edge treatment, tempering, laminating, heat soaking and insulating. All APG SG system glass is processed under close supervision of certified system managers of APG International in compliance to the systems high end quality and performance standards. White Aluminum Glass Processing is one of the most equipped as well as most experienced glass processing units in the world. The advanced ISO 9000 certified 20,000 m2 facility houses state of the art production lines sourced from the world leading suppliers in their field. Furthermore, experienced staff at all level follows a strict Quality Management System for which White Aluminium has become very well known at international levels. TEMPERED GLASS White Aluminum’s high efficient TAMGLASS SONIC™ horizontal tempering furnace produces high quality ASTM 1048 compliant tempered glass with top performance conditions and properties. Introduced pre-stress around holes is compatible with the design and use of APG SG system fittings. INSULATED GLASS All APG SG Insulated Glass is certified to class CBA by ASTM E773 test method and to ASTM E774 specification requirements through the IGCC. Glass composition uses fully tempered and/or laminated tempered resp. heat-strengthened glass in accordance to advanced APG SG system standards. Special system spacer wheels around holes are sealed with a 2-barrier seal to accompany APG SG fittings.

Production Engineering & Quality Control DORMA’s engineering specialists assure that all components of different materials for the APG SG System Fittings are efficiently designed in order to meet performance requirements and quality standards of the APG SG Glazing System. All materials are undergoing frequent test cycles for structural performance, durability and compatibality. Components of the APG SG System Fittings are backed up by material mill inspection certificates 3.1 compliant to DIN EN 10 204. Quality control is taken in close coordination between APG International and qualified DORMA representatives in order to maintain the highest level of material quality and durable functionality of the APG SG System Fitting.

Apg sg Standard systems

APG SG EASY-FIT™ System including stainless-steel spring plate connection to steel, wood, aluminum or glass sub-frames. Multifunctional and customizable in order to meet individual performance and aesthetical demands.

APG SG HD-System is based on Stainless-steel ‘bracket and sleeve’ connections to steel sub-profiles for heavy duty (HD) glass panels or super high hurricane wind-loads. Fittings are locked invisibly within sssleeves welded to slim custom engineered brackets.

APG SG RODAN Spider System made of high performance duplex stainless-steel casting, well tested and certified as standard fixation element for steel truss, glass, spaceframe as well as cable connections.

APG SG Glass Mullion System for ultimate transparency of architectural glass applications such as walls, canopies and skylights. Stainless-steel fittings support and connect glass as well as provide safe load transfer even in case of post-breakage scenarios.

FITTINGS APG SG standard system components are made of high strength stainlesssteel and engineered with silicone parts compatible with glass and additional sealants. All fittings include MIT™ and are tested to performance and durability at third party institutes and testing agencies. Glass and hardware merges to a depending system in order to meet highest demands of performance and durability. Fittings are rigid or include an articulated joint to reduce stresses within the glass by flexible heads, providing economical and efficient glass selections to safely save cost.

CONNECTORS Systemized connecting elements enhance the design possibilities of creating a fully system integrated structure including coordinated glazing components offering multiple options for a variety of substructure support. All APG SG RODAN Spider system architectural hardware is manufactured by DORMA under highest quality control supervision by APG in order to assure the systems performance in compliance to the design. All system connecting components such as APG SG Glass Mullion system connectors are developed under German engineering standards as well as tested in European laboratories to its usage in high performance structural glazing works.

Apg sg SYSTEM DESIGN & ENGINEERING STRUCTURAL DESIGN AND ANALYSIS The APG SG System is well designed and engineered in order to meet highest performance demands of modern architecture. APG’s professional engineers are skilled in facade design and engineering of sophisticated structural glass applications with combined experience of more than 35 years. All system components will be individually checked and structurally verified for each project application. Furthermore, APG’s design and engineering center in Germany provides full turn-key design for the complete structural glass structure. This includes detailed structural analysis and verifications of glass and glazing elements under consideration of applying loads and other circumstances. The sole source system manufacturing enables APG to define quality standards for glass and fittings in order to benchmark all theoretical calculations with the reality. This is important for sophisticated three dimensional FEM analysis on higher orders under dynamic load assumptions (e.g. wind, blast, …). APG provides full design and engineering solutions out of one hand and understands this as APG`s sole source system responsibility. “We know the capabilities of our system and issue our outstanding warranty only based on our design and full supervision. We understand this as a matter of quality and responsibility.” All system applications are designed, engineered and closely coordinated with architects, consultants and other trades in each individual project in order to ensure the perfect and durable fit into the building.

OFF-SITE AND ON-SITE TESTING The APG SG system is tested in its components and for individual applications. APG’s engineers are working closely with reputable test agencies and institutes in Germany, USA and UAE to test project related structures in accordance to performance and physical durability in off-site test centers or on-site. Structural performance, durability and behavior under dynamic loads and post-breakage scenarios are usual tests carried out under supervision of APG.

Apg sg SYSTEM DESIGN & ENGINEERING Structural Values and Approvals - APG SG Fittings The APG SG system follows the engineering base of DORMA RODAN glass clamp mountings. The RODAN series glass clamp fittings were the first fittings for glass construction applications to receive European Technical Approval no. 05/0074 (ETA-05/0074). An assumed lifetime for the mountings of 25 years forms the basis of the documented regulations. This longevity is the result of positive experience gained in many years of practical applications and numerous scientific investigations involving RODAN products. The ETA approval is supplemented by a certificate of suitability relating to the RODAN mounting type fittings, issued and monitored by the Research Centre for Steel, Timber and Masonry of the University of Karlsruhe. This certificate of suitability contains audited information relating to application, load-bearing capacity and the durability of the fittings.

The table shows the characteristic capacity values of fittings APG SG type SK-50 & K-50 exposed to normal and transverse forces. The dimensioning values are derived from these data by dividing by a partial safety factor of ym = 1.1. When using a screwed connection between the pin and the substructure, the analysis is performed by mathematical means. If the fittings are simultaneously stressed by both normal and transverse forces, dimensioning can be determined on the basis of the interaction.

Structural Values and Approvals - APG SG RODAN Spider The APG SG system spider is based on DORMA RODAN spider fittings. The RODAN spider assembly with universal adapter is generally approved according to German regulations for construction applications. Its suitability can also be verified by static analysis on the basis of the type test carried out, using a standardized dimensioning process for each individual application. All certificates, approvals and type test reports are available from APG or DORMA.

Facts & Figures describe general and technical minimum quality and methods of the APG SG Glazing System in order to provide a standard of quality. Case related standards and quality may exceed these values. All qualities and methods are only for information and subject to written compliance by APG International for individual project applications.

QUALITY ASSURANCE All Glazing Materials, Design and Engineering of the APG SG System are sole responsibility of APG International. Glazing Materials include glass, fittings, connectors, accessories and filler grouts and are be produced by sources approved and controlled by APG International. Further installation and Execution of the APG SG System will be either processed by APG International or installers approved and supervised by APG International.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION The APG SG System compromises complete sole source glazing elements for Structural Frameless Glass applications such as structural glass walls, skylights, canopies, balustrades and traffic accessible floors. The system includes glass and stainless-steel hardware components, fully coordinated and compatible with each other. System can be extended to full structure and substructure applications.

Fittings are designed to give either flush appearance through countersunk shaped heads or use offset clamp plates to apply adequate clamping pressure to outward surface of glazing. Fittings compromise APG Micro Injection Technology MIT™ for full bolt embedment within glass hole providing direct load transfer between glass and fitting.

2. The design and engineering of the System Hardware is the sole responsibility of APG International. 3. System Hardware and Connectors are designed to prevent high stress concentration at the hole positions and cope with: Negative and positive wind loading, seismic loads, thermal movement, construction toleran ces, live load and dead load movements and blast loads (if any). 4.

Oversize holes in connector members allow for thermal movement and glass manufacturing tolerances. Post-installation movement to be assured and certified by APG International installation supervision.

The APG SG System provides for unitized pre-fixing of all items to glass prior to erection.

5.

WARRANTIES APG International warrants the design integrity, weather-resistance and -capability as well as system durability for a period of 12 years. This covers all aspects of the system including engineering and materials excepting coatings on glass and gas retention within Insulated Glass Units. The installation will be warranted for a period of 5 years against failures in workmanship.

Apg sg SYSTEM Facts & Figures SYSTEM MATERIALS Structural Glass Application to be in full compliance with the APG SG System specification. Glazing System Materials provide minimum quality as follows: 1-

APG SG System Glass as soda lime silicate safety glass to be tempered to EN 12150.

2-

All full tempered glass will be heat soaked. Heat Soaking will be processed from the alpha phase to the beta phase and complies with DIN EN 14197-1. The process includes a 12 hour cycle at a temperature of 290 degrees C.

3-

APG SG fully tempered Glass will be certified to be tempered to a minimum compressive strength of 110 Mpa.

4-

All glass will be horizontal tempered which eliminates tong marks.

5-

All glass edges will be ground flat with frosted appearance unless otherwise noted.

6-

All edgework, holes and notches in the tempered glass will be processed and completed before tempering and comply with the APG SG System standard requirements stated as follows:

a. Dimensional tolerance on panel size will be +/- 1mm of the theoretical dimension. b. Squareness of each panel will be within 3mm. c. Bow tolerance is 0.1% (float glass) d. The positional tolerance on all holes will be +/- 1.50 mm from a single datum point.

All glass will be processed in White Aluminum’s factory under terms of ISO 9000 which is independently monitored.

Glass will be pre-stressed around the holes fully compatible with the design and use of the APG SG fittings and che cked by differential surface refractometer (DSR) on stress level.

All APG SG Fittings will be predominantly manufactured from stainless-steel Grade 316 in accordance to EN 10027-2 with minimum strength of S355.

The Finish of all fittings to be machined, glass-bead blasted, electro-polished or mirror-polished.

Bushings will be Polyamide, Gaskets will be cured Silicone.

All connectors will be predominantly manufactured from duplex stainless-steel Grade 316 resp. 1.4468 in ac cordance to EN 10027-2 with minimum strength of S460.
