During a heart attack, 20 to 30 minutes could save your life. Getting to the hospital quickly improves your chances of surviving a heart attack by up to 40%. Reducing the time to treatment by 20 to 30 minutes— the amount of time it can take to travel to Charlotte—can save your life. Piedmont Medical Center’s Heart and Vascular Center offers quality heart care services. As a designated full Cycle II with PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) center, we offer advanced emergency care, angioplasty and heart surgery—treatments you may need if you’re having a heart attack. Other Chest Pain Centers, without such interventional heart treatment capabilities, often will transfer you to a PCI center like Piedmont Medical Center. Coming here first may help save your life. For a physician referral, call 803-329-1234 and select option two.

n a special visit to York County on October 7, 1930, U.S. President Herbert Hoover declared the battlefield at Kings Mountain to be “a place of inspiring memories.” It is the place that changed the course of history for South Carolina and the United States. The Chronicle Marker at Kings Mountain National Military Park is the second oldest battlefield monument (1815) in the United States. The park preserves the entire battlefield site in a natural setting evocative of the Carolina frontier of 1780 which commemorates one of the most important Patriot victories of the American Revolution. The park includes a 1.5 mile battlefield trail, a film presentation, and museum exhibit area, a gift shop and bookstore, and a hiking trail. There is a backcountry campsite approximately three miles from the visitor center, and horse trails are also available for visitors who bring their own horses.

The last time the building was used for entertainment, was in 1968...it has gone through many “metamorphosed” incarnations...as a movie house, a hotel, a storage building and as a teacher’s supply shop. Paul Finnican saw the unrealized potential and architectural integrity of the 100 year old building, coupled that with his desire to provide a venue for the singer-songwriter in this particular area and proceeded to purchase and personally renovate it. After completely redoing the interior and adding some nice touches, this theatre has been brought back to her well deserved status as a place to enjoy the arts.
Located in historic Old Town Rock Hill, the Center for the Arts is housed in two restored 100-year old buildings. The Center houses the offices of the Arts Council of York County, the Dalton Gallery, the Edmund Lewandowski Classroom and private artist studios. The Dalton Gallery features 7-8 exhibits each year from local, regional, national and international artists. The Center for the Arts offers space for workshops, receptions, meetings and small performances.

Here the culture and heritage of Western York County are presented through a wide variety of memorabilia ranging from rough plows to delicate glassware. As a joint effort between the town of Sharon and the Broad River Basin Historical Society, the museum consists of six galleries, a library and a classroom. Open Sunday 3pm-5pm or by appointment.

Town of Sharon
City of York
Sharon is a town in southwestern York County. The population was 534 at the 2009 census and the town has a total area of 1.3 square miles, all of it land. Sharon is the location of the highest building in the southwestern section of the county, in the former Hill’s Mercantile, made from bricks which were fired on-site, at the turn of the nineteenth century.
The town of Yorkville, now known simply as York, was established as the County seat in 1785. Situated between two Revolutionary battle sites, the Battle of Kings Mountain and the Battle of Williamson’s Plantation, York was the only county in South Carolina to remain undefeated during that war.
