A two-hour trip to Whistler will give you access to the Sliding Centre and a nice photo opportunity of the Rings in the village. RICHMOND It is the City of Richmond, just a 20-minute Canada Line rapid transit ride from downtown Vancouver, where the legacy of 2010 really lives.
INUKSUK (pronounced In-ook-shook) An inuksuk is a human-made stone landmark with ancient roots in Inuit culture. The official emblem for the XXI Olympic Winter Games was an inuksuk named Ilanaaq.
THE OLYMPIC OVAL
SIGNATURE VENUE OF THE GAMES The Richmond Olympic Oval was the signature venue of the 2010 Games. The design concept was inspired by the flow of the nearby Fraser River and the flight of the wild birds that inhabit its estuary. Its roof is one of the largest clearspan wooden structures in the world, covering an area larger than four football fields. The design and application of the roof in a building of such size and significance helped British Columbia’s wood design and fabrication industry achieve global recognition.
THE OLYMPIC EXPERIENCE CANADA’S ONLY OLYMPIC MUSEUM
The Olympic Experience at the Richmond Olympic Oval is an Olympic legacy that transcends the typical museum. It’s a completely interactive, wholly immersive environment that allows fans to connect with the most inspiring moments from the Games—and experience them from a completely new point-of-view.
