Clark and Division by Naomi Hirahara

In this historical crime fiction novel, twentyyear-old Aki Ito searches for the truth about her revered older sister's death in 1944 Chicago, after her family was released from mass incarceration at Manzanar during World War II. Clark and Division is a wonderful choice for book groups that love historical fiction and mysteries.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

Project Hail Mary’s Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission--and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that.

He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. An ingenious science fiction novel that’s hard to put down and will spark a lot of conversation.

MakingMemories

A child came up to me with two huge, geography books and asked how to buy them. I explained that they could borrow them with a library card. “I can get a library card?!” they asked. They looked at their caregiver, and then they both looked at me. I explained what they needed to do, and they went straight to our Customer Service Desk and received a new card!

The next day, they walked into my program and flashed their new library card with a big smile. I love taking pictures of kids getting their first library card! It’s like the world is opening up to them in a new way, and it’s empowering!"
