Open Doors & Unimagined Possibilities Romans 12:6 says, “God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well.” What an encouraging word. However, so often, we have to give people a chance to discover that talent. From the beginning this concept— providing training on all levels of print and digital communication—continues to build the legacy of this ministry, Most ministries simply produce good products or stories, but few focus on His Message, Multiplied through training indigenous media missionaries. Over ten years ago, we began training a husband and wife team to be presenters on our “Family Talk” program. They were naturally gifted, but this training and opportunity opened new doors for them in ministry. Today, the husband is a radio personality and regularly speaks on marriage and family issues. As a team, the couple is making an impact in the Philippines and other Asian nations. We had the privilege of coaching them and God opened a door to use their gifts for His glory on a scale they never imagined. This edition of MISSION is dedicated to AP Media’s His Message, Multiplied commitment to training. and exciting opportunities to take that influence to untapped mission fields in Asia Pacific and beyond.

training missionaries for THE DIGITAL AGE

“Train those who will train others.” The model that Paul gave to Timothy is the backbone of AP Media. It’s His Message, Multiplied. In an era of digital technology, the gospel message can travel further than it ever has before.

And AP Media has done that in approximately 20 nations. Our staff has already had a busy couple of months. • We’ve trained writers through AP Media writing workshops.

We’ve trained indigenous media missionaries for over 25 years, and it produces lasting results!

One of our team members spent five days working on two new projects with our Myanmar video producer to reach this vast mission field.

We are training speakers, videographers, editors, and writers.

Currently, we are planning many workshops on how the church can effectively

utilize social media to share the gospel.

But some of most exciting training opportunities in our ministry’s history are on the horizon. In the last 30 days, we have received invitations to train media missionaries in Indonesia, northern Myanmar and even Filipino churches in the Middle East! God is at work opening doors were once completely closed to the gospel!

“Media is a crucial outlet of this information age. And now that transfer of information happens very quickly. We can use this to our advantage by sharing the Bible as fast as we can so that it will reach many.” Gregorio said. We plan to produce short films focused on discipleship and sharing the Good News. We can reach a lot of people, especially the students as we go back to our churches and use what we’ve learned to communicate the gospel in a way that speaks to this generation.”

A $100 investment today gives hands-on training to a media missionary Watch bit.ly/mediatraining like Ryan Gregorio to expand his knowledge MUlLTIPLY TRAINING at apmedia.org or in video production.

GIVING CHURCHES

“Tools for the Trade” The use of media has enhanced the ability of our congregation to grasp Bible content through preaching and teaching on a regular basis. It also places in tools in their hands for sowing seeds of the gospel in people’s lives through the various social media. AP Media partners, thank you for helping us conduct “Tools for the Trade” Media Awareness seminars across Asia Pacific to equip pastors and lay workers to utilize media to see His Message, Multiplied in their congregations and communities. The main impetus for developing this kind of training is the misassumption that many Christian media [6.] AP Media MISSION / apmedia.org.

producers have that pastors and churches are wellversed in media and how technology can benefit their ministry. Media orientation for ministry and communication basics are key components of this seminar. We introduce students to a variety of media tools— including audio, video, and print. We then help our students connect available media tools to their specific target audience. Students leave this seminar with a strategy to implement the use of specific media tools in their ministry. — PASTOR PETER BANZON April/May 2016 e-issue [7.]

His Message

in Asia Pacific

1. SCRIPTWRITING—“I teach scriptwriting, both for audio and video. When a student begins, they tend to think scriptwriting is too challenging and time-consuming. Students learn to brainstorm and are excited to walk through the creative process and then see the outcome.” —RHODA CHAN 2. VIDEO PRODUCTION—“It’s amazing to equip workers with the “how-tos” of video production as well as basic concepts of filmmaking. It’s almost like replicating myself through these people knowing that they will do media in places I could not even go.” —JAYR MANALO

3. AUDIO PRODUCTION— ”Through the Multiply seminars, I’ve had the chance to teach many students how to use church sound systems as well as audio production techniques for radio and video. I’m so thankful for the skills God has called me to use for Him and to be able to pass my knowledge on to others is incredibly rewarding.” —ALENA PALAD 4. SOCIAL MEDIA TRAINING— ”It’s rewarding to have the opportunity to teach many churches and leaders web development and help them use social media and to maximize connect with, disciple and encourage their church members throughout the week as well as expand the reach of the gospel.”—PATRICK TAN April/May 2016 e-issue [9.]

MIDDLE EAST TRAINING UPDATE “The Middle East has always been a fascinating place. To have an invitation to train media workers in this part of the world is an answer to prayer. It has the potential of creating a ripple effect impacting many families in a hard to reach area of the world.” —Bill Snider, AP Media Director Thank You AP Media Partners for your investment in Training! In 2016, more than 120 leaders and media workers will receive training. This averages out to a partnership investment of $100 to train one media missionary. November/December 2014 [7.] [10.] [10.] AP APMedia MediaMISSION MISSION/ /apmedia.org. apmedia.org.

As the region grows in business and commerce, the Middle East has become the temporary home of several million Filipinos who work as Overseas Foreign Workers (OFWs). They do everything from construction to housekeeping. It’s a full spectrum of opportunity many in the country are so financially well-off that they do not want to do these jobs. And due to population size to do the amount of construction needed in the Middle East. Several months ago, AP Media received the invitation to do conduct a Training Workshop in one of the largest cities in the Middle East. The church runs close to 1,000 with a mostly Filipino congregation. When the pastor discovered our website and all the materials that we had, he asked for the team to train the leadership in how to use media. These tools will be useful in many opportunities to share the gospel among other Filipinos, and occasionally with their Muslim supervisors. The pastor has also invited many leaders from nearby countries. Over 30 people, which includes six to 10 church teams, will attend the workshops. The attendees will receive instruction in utilizing AP Media materials in their churches and also help them develop their own presentation and social media content. “Social media is everywhere,

says Bill. “Learning how to use and make these materials can help disciple, encourage Christians in the midst of challenges or grow spiritual life.” The training will include teaching how to produce quality video content utilizing cell phone technology. In creating these short messages, leaders can share content with their congregations and communities via social media and digital sharing. PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR MINISTRY TRAINING IN THE MIDDLE EAST

1. Pray for the pastors and leaders coming to the Multiply Workshop that the right people are selected and can come, which we’re hoping includes people from several of the close by countries. 2. Pray for the AP Media team to have a clear understanding of the rules and restrictions in the area so that the proposals and training are useful for the attendees and able to be implemented. 3. Pray for the $6000 in travel costs needed and arrangements for the trip. It’s about 4,500 miles, a 10-hour flight, from the Philippines to the Middle East. 4. Pray for favor in securing Visas and all the details that allow the training to happen. 5. Pray for more workshop opportunities to open in this part of the world and for attendees to take what they learn to train others. —JENNIFER TAYLOR

HIS MESSAGE, MULTIPLIED

TRAINING THE STORYTELLERS “Through training indigenous media missionaries to share their stories through the written word they are able to effectively contextualize the gospel message— making it speak to the culture they’re in. In this part of the world family is the unit of trust, the unit dearest to their hearts. As these writers are empowered to share their stories, they build other families up to see the relevance of the message of Jesus in their own lives.” —Kim Snider, AP Media editor

HIS MESSAGE, MULTIPLIED

YOUTH MAX: SHAPING THE HEART OF THE NEXT GENERATION Asia Pacific Media training focus goes beyond teaching media missionaries to create their resources; we are creating life-changing digital resources like Youth MAX and training churches how to use them to reach their communities. Just over a year ago, at the request of our national AG Filipino leadership we released Youth MAX to specifically focused on reaching the 50 percent of the population of the country under the age of 20. The goal: to help young people grow in God and reaching their friends. And churches like Manila Faith AG see results: “YOUTH MAX embodies the concept of “watch and learn.” This resource is like a mirror that allows the youth who view it to evaluate their mindsets and choices. It gives them an opportunity to discover how to cope up with real-life issues and as they watch; they learn to make wise decisions. “—Pastor Garry Ching, Galvez of Manila Faith AG (Philippines) Because of partners like you, we can impact young adults in the Philippians as well as people across the Asia Pacific at all levels and in all stages of life with the love of Christ.
