Turakina Highland Games The 156th Turakina Highland Games attracted more than 800 people on 25th January 2020. Activities included farmers’ walk, caber toss, and tug of war.

Kai Iwi Beach Dig More than 150 people braved the rain to join in the fun at the Kai Iwi Beach Dig, organised by Mitre 10 MEGA Wanganui, on 23rd February 2020. Out of the 205 prize tokens buried, 160 were claimed.

Charity Golf The NZME & Mitre 10 MEGA Wanganui Charity Golf Day 21st February 2020 was a huge hit raising $21,357 for Wanganui Riding for the Disabled! $13,000 was raised in the auction alone.

Waitangi Day Waitangi Day celebrations kicked off with a karakia at the riverside by Pākaitore / Moutua Gardens, followed by Picnic at the Pā on 6th February 2020. Stalls included cinnamon scrolls and whitebait fritters, and there was plenty of entertainment on the day.

Monster Fishing Competition The annual Monster Fishing Competition was held at South Beach between 15th to 16th February 2020. There were some amazing prizes thanks to some generous sponsors! These included a Honda quad bike, ďŹ shing rods & reels, and cash prizes.

Whanganui Vintage Weekend The Whanganui Vintage Weekend once again drew crowds from all over the country on Wellington Anniversary Weekend 18th - 20th January 2020. There were many activities and fun including Teapot Racing, Billy Webb Rowing Challenge, Flights on the vintage DC-3, and plenty of music to dance to.
