Each issue of the Apostolic Herald is an opportunity to share the progress and achievements that the Apostolic Assembly is making wherever we are present. A supernatural move of God is taking place in local congregations, resulting in inspiring and transforming celebrations. There is an overall focus on being a growing, healthy and Holy Spirit-filled church.
Growing - Baptizing & Discipling with the cellular vision.
Healthy - Developing the gifts and ministries of each church member.
Filled with the Holy Spirit - Revived Home Cell groups and Church Services.
Through this issue we share our joy and continue with the vision that God has given to the Apostolic Assembly for this time:
“BUILD THE CHURCH: MISSION - HOLY SPIRIT”.
May the virtues, characteristics and experiences of our forefathers in the faith, be our Christian life as well: “And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.”
Acts 13:52
With joy, Bishop Armando Tamez
The New Testament church was a church of deep faith and hope in Jesus Christ. The constant expectation of our first brothers was to see the Lord work miracles and wonders… and this was exactly what happened: “They went out and preached everywhere, the Lord helping them and confirming the word with the signs that followed.” Mark 16.20.
It was thanks to this tremendous move of the Holy Spirit that thousands upon thousands were converted to Christ and added to the Church in those days, as can be seen in Acts 5:
“And by the hand of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people... And those who believed in the Lord increased more, a great number of both men and women. So much so that they took the sick out into the streets, and put them on beds, so that when Pedro passed by, at least his shadow would fall on one of them. And even from the neighboring cities many came to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and tormented by unclean spirits; and they were all healed.”Acts 5.12; 14–16.
What strength there was in the early church! What a glory it is to look back on that beautiful era of our history! And how exciting it is to realize that the same power is still available to us today!
We must give proper emphasis to the place of the Holy Spirit in the Church if we want there to be real spiritual life in the Church. The operation of the Holy Spirit in our private and family life, in the life of the local church and in all spheres of the body of Christ, must become a total and absolute priority for us.
It is truly imperative for the Church to have the miraculous operation of the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit in her. The reason for this statement is offered to us, once again, in the Acts of the Apostles, where we can see the first Christians involved in a series of miraculous events that led them to victory. The following are just a few examples:
1. Peter and John went to the temple at prayer time. A lame man was sitting at the Beautiful Gate begging for alms, when suddenly supernatural faith and miraculous power made the man walk and jump, praising God as he entered the temple. The people gathered there were filled with amazement and admiration, and five thousand men were converted to the Lord on that day alone (Acts 3).
2. Peter and John were imprisoned overnight for preaching Jesus Christ. As they stood before the priests and signatories, supernatural wisdom guided them in the words they spoke when making their defense: “Then seeing the boldness of Peter and John, and knowing that they were men without letters and of the common people, they marveled. And they recognized them that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4.13.
3. Persecution broke out and all the apostles were imprisoned, accused of filling Jerusalem with their doctrines. They were beaten before the council and ordered never to speak in the name of Jesus again. But their faith was so high and vigorous that “...they left the presence of the council, rejoicing at having been counted worthy to suffer disgrace for the Name’s sake. And every day, in the temple and in their homes, they did not stop teaching and preaching Jesus Christ.” Acts 5.41,42.
4. After performing great signs and wonders (Acts 6), Stephen prayed for divine forgiveness for those who stoned him to death (Acts 7).
5. After the preaching of Philip the evangelist, a great revival broke out in the city of Samaria (Acts 8).
6. A staunch persecutor of the Church, Saul of Tarsus, was touched by the hand of God and became the great apostle Paul (Acts 9), the main manager of the missions of the church in the first century.
As a result of these and many other powerful operations of the Spirit in those days, people of all religious backgrounds were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit: Jews (Acts 2 and 3), Samaritans (Acts 8), Gentiles (Acts 10), followers of John the Baptist (Acts 19) and many more.
Brethren, in order to truly build up the Church at this time, it is vital that we have a clear understanding of the doctrine of the operation of the power of the Holy Spirit in the Church. There can be no spiritually vigorous Church apart from the Spirit.
About this, Meyer Perlman says in his book “Knowing the Doctrines of the Bible”: “The doctrine of the Holy Spirit, judged by its place in the Scriptures, stands out in the most notable category of redemptive truths. Every book in the New Testament, with the exception of 2nd and 3rd John, contains a reference to the works of the Spirit.”
“Brethren, in order to truly build up the Church at this time, it is vital that we have a clear understanding of the doctrine of the operation of the power of the Holy Spirit in the Church.”
The manifestation of the Holy Spirit must occur in the Church if it is to be a true church— the body of Christ—because in the operation of the gifts of the Spirit we show the same power of God that operated in the body of flesh of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Just as in the early church, today we need to have the grace of the Spirit upon each believer, to effect their personal salvation; and the gifts of the Spirit operating in the group of believers to build the Church and win new converts; for “...to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for profit.” 1st Corinthians 12.7.
So, “If anyone speaks, let him speak according to the words of God; If anyone ministers, let him minister according to the power that God gives; so that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1st Peter 4.11.
Brothers, let us build the Church with the power of the Holy Spirit!
God bless you.
Dear Bishops, Elders, and Pastors, Paz de Cristo!
Here are five reasons why your church always needs to have its insurance policy current. Insurance policies protect our sacrifices and efforts.
Your church needs its own insurance policy to protect your ministry. God has placed a very special calling in your life to preach the gospel and minister healing and signs in your community. This calling does not come from us; it is from God, and as something that comes from God, we must do all we can to protect it, just as we watch our health or holiness.
In ministry, we sometimes make the best decisions for the church that may still provoke a lawsuit from a disgruntled member. Without coverage, these lawsuits may affect your personal property. We can protect this call and future ministry opportunities with insurance, particularly directors’ and officers’ coverage, which provides protection for our ministry decisions.
Every church needs its own insurance policy to protect its church property against emergencies and disasters. In 2016, the original church building in Hanford, California, burned in a tragic fire. Pastor Samuel Delgado and the congregation were left without a building, but their insurance policy was active, and their property was protected. The First Apostolic Assembly of Hanford was able to rebuild, and now they have a beautiful new church building where they can worship God.
Churches need property coverage because emergencies and tragedies happen, and coverage can turn something tragic into a new opportunity.
The church needs its own insurance policy to protect it during church activities. The General Board recommends that every church have liability coverage as well as sexual harassment coverage. Even in the most organized churches, a fall can occur, an accident can happen, or someone can fall into sin and hurt another believer.
These coverages will protect your church from accidents or the independent actions of your ministry team, volunteer team, members, or visitors.
Each local church needs its own insurance policy, which protects it and also protects the Apostolic Assembly as a whole. Our beloved Apostolic Assembly was born out of the Azusa Street Revival in 1906 and God has kept this fire burning.
The Apostolic Assembly is neither a ministerial association nor a cooperative network of churches. The Apostolic Assembly is one church; it is one assembly, not many assemblies. Since we are a church, we are organized spiritually and legally in this way. That means that negligence in one part of the country can affect the church in another part of the country. Our unity provides us with many benefits when negotiating loan terms or in legal support, but it must be constantly protected. Although God has blessed our diligence, we must continue to protect our unity. By purchasing insurance, you protect your local church, the churches in your area, and the Apostolic Assembly in general.
Finally, consider the enormous cost of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars that can result from a lack of insurance. Churches must respond to many needs. Sometimes, a member needs help, and we must pay for repairs, rent, or mortgage on a building. There are instruments and equipment to buy, repair, or replace. A lawsuit could stop or undo all the advances God has already allowed you and the church you lead. A lawsuit will add tremendously to all the costs already mentioned.
Insurance policies come at a price but do not compare to the protection you and your congregation will have.
Pastors, if you need help or have any insurance questions, our General Secretariat staff is here to help you: GenSecDep@apostolicassembly.org
Please contact us if you have any questions. We are praying for the welfare of all of you and your congregations. God bless you abundantly!
After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. 2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Luke 10:1-2
Upon seeing the signs of the times around us there is no doubt that Christ is coming soon for His Church, to which we shout Glory to God! At the same time, it signifies that the day is coming when no one shall be able to work. We are in a world where those who are being born outnumber the people dying which means that as never before there are many more souls to be saved.
The words of the Lord Jesus have even more weight in our time in which truly the Harvest is great but the laborers are few. We thank God for the leadership of our Bishop President Salazar and for the focus on the three most necessary areas to work in this reality which are evangelism, discipleship, and small groups using the Strategy of Jesus as the plan of action. I am rejoicing that as I look around the world the church is marching forward at the national level as well as the international level to win the world the world for Jesus! There are no longer hundreds but thousands being reached for the Kingdom of God
At the same time my memories go back years ago to our General Conventions where in a very specific marked time a call was made through the whole convention for those who felt the calling to work for the Lord in a new field of labor. They would sing an old song stating, “Oh Lord the work is great, and workers are lacking now…” It is time to awaken that spirit to enter the field of labor to work the harvest be it at the local level, or the national level or international level.
In the month of April, seeing this hunger in our youth, young married couples, and others, we are launching our Apostolic MIT program which stands for missionaries in training. Those interested, with the permission of their local pastor, can take this course. Those who are interested please go the Apostolic Assembly Website and watch the MIT video through which you can register. We have seen a decrease in missionaries
Bishop Steven Moran“we need to work and labor in the field of the Lord, my desire is to pray and be occupied in the vineyard of the Lord.”
going out from the USA to the mission field. We wish to open a pathway where those that have such a passion can receive training.
Upon passing the course we will offer an internship be it 3 months, 6 months, or a year to those who wish to nurture that call and at the same time be of impact in the mission field. There are approximately 200 countries in the world and the Assembly by the grace of God has been able to have presence in 43 of those countries of every race and culture. My prayer is united with Jesus in praying to the Lord of the Harvest that laborers be sent to the harvest. The Lord already has the Harvest ready He only needs those that are willing to enter in and gather the harvest of thousands of souls that are waiting. Perhaps on reading this article something is shaking the fibers of your spirit and heart. Don’t resist. Follow the voice of the Lord and prepare yourself upon which God will say what comes next.
We are in the midst of a global revival with new fields being open each day where we need to focus on evangelism and discipleship using small groups as demarked in the Strategy of Jesus, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit in the saving of souls that are being lost without God and without Hope.
I would have you know that our most recent missionary, Jhonatan, and his wife Lucia, began in the work in Munich, Germany with zero members, using the Strategy of Jesus through small groups and have filled their house with pure souls and God willing in the month of March they will have their first baptism! They are about to rent a church because they no longer fit in their house. This is an example of how to enter those fields that are white and begin to gather the harvest.
Apostolic Assembly, it is time to awaken and take action in putting hands on the plow, entering into those fields and as our Apostolic song declares… “we need to work and labor in the field of the Lord, my desire is to pray and be occupied in the vineyard of the Lord.” We need to fill all the earth with the Apostolic message!
The National Missions Department is committed to taking the good news to the states of our country where there is no Apostolic Assembly presence. The Department is also committed to supervising the regions in its care and in establishing new works in these regions through the vision of the church: The Strategy of Jesus.
“We envision a church that is apostolic, small groups based, healthy, filled with the Spirit and growing.”
We see the dawning of holistic growth in the church through a clear vision founded on the move of the Holy Spirit through spiritual gifts in each small group and in each celebration service of the church. The vision for 2024 we can outline with the following points:
The Church Planters School is following our President Felipe Salazar’s vision for the growth of the Apostolic Assembly. The challenge is to plant 300 new works through the support of the district supervisors, regional elders, and pastors. Our Department shall host the School of Church Planters II from September 26-28, 2024, in Fontana, California with the purpose of preparing and developing new church planters.
Follow-Up for New Church Plants. The Church Plating Committee is following up monthly with the workers out in the field to provide partnership and the necessary tools. This committee is comprised of men with experience and a servant: Bishop Elias Paez, Bishop David Martinez, Pastor Jimmy Morales, and Regional Elder Jonathan Quezada.
In the United States we need the Apostolic message to reach Alaska, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, West Virginia, Delaware, and North Dakota. In 2024 our vision is to get to two States, to this end we are in need of willing workers to become National Missionaries. It is also our plan to send a new missionary to Hawaii this year. You can fill out a National Missionary Application. It is required that you agree to work with the Jesus Strategy vision, and you must have had a fruitful soulwinning ministry through leading small groups.
Date: April 5-6, 2024
The ministries of national and district evangelists are valuable to the structure of the Apostolic Assembly. Given that the evangelistic work of the church must continue, there will also be a great need to equip those who feel the calling. We want to have a solid program of development, training and mentoring to help guarantee that these ministries centered on the Gospel continue growing and flourishing in the church.
Today’s district evangelists are tomorrow’s national evangelists. These are men who will be at the vanguard of the church’s expansion, the planting of new works, community outreach, global evangelization, and future missionaries.
The workshop’s objective is to train new district evangelists. The purpose of working alongside our district bishops is to provide immediate benefits to our districts with the objective of cultivating evangelists for today and tomorrow. The candidates will be those ministers recommended by the Bishop and the District Board of Directors with the objective that they be assigned as District Evangelists or for further training with the purpose of appointing them to this ministry in the future.
We also recommend to you all our National Evangelists, God uses them in a very special way, and they are a great blessing for a Friends Day, Retreats, Marriage Conferences, or evangelistic crusades.
CONCLUSION
“To shine in and impact our world, we must first shine in and impact our home, the stronger the light is at home, the farther its light will reach.”
How can we impact Jerusalem? Through adopting a cultural leadership focused on Evangelist, Discipleship, and Small Groups, and the planting of new works in our country.
Any building project that plans to continue to build and reach new heights will require that its platform be broad and firm. The vision of the Secretariat of Christian Education goes beyond the formation of educational programs or academic literature. The breadth and scope that the Apostolic Assembly has reached and has set out to surpass demands a “Global Apostolic Academic Culture” at all levels of our structure, that is from the local Church, District, Regions, National and International. A perception that dignifies and values the educational resources we have and those we seek to establish.
We are launching several events that will help us catapult our vision:
- In April we will have the historic first summit of apostolic educators in which we seek to answer the prayer of many apostolics who were educated in different educational systems and had not had the opportunity that now presents itself. Create Christian Education curriculum for local churches, including the Apostolic Vacation Bible School (VBSA).
- In May we will continue with the District Training Seminars.
- In June we will conduct the Pastoral Formation School which will be extended to all Pastors who seek and are able to participate.
- In July we will hold the IABC Campus Directors Seminar.
For the month of May, the coordination of Apostolic Literature will be releasing the first apostolic books for different age groups through the bookstore.
I am fully convinced of the transforming power of apostolic Christian education and we express it through our motto “The most powerful means of transformation: Education”
To fulfill this mission, several directors and coordinators have been established who, united in the same vision, form the Christian Education team.

As we enter a new year, our goal is to build the church through acts of service, benevolence and kindness to those in need. The department of Social Assistnace has always been at the forefront in providing for the needs of our brethren world wide and 2023 was a year that the mission of the department was accomplished in many ways. In November 2023, a category 5 hurricane (Otis) ravaged the city of Acapulco, Guerrero Mexico. Many towns were destroyed, businnesses and homes were battered under the 165 mile an hour winds and storm surge. Among those that were directly affected by the hurricane was several of our pastors and brethren. Unfortunately, one of our sisters passed away as her home was washed away by the overflow of the nearby river. In December 2023, a team consisting of Bishop Secretary of Social Assistance Sam Rojas, Bishop Secretary of Social Assistance (Mexico) Moises Bracamontes, Pastor Martin Calderon Jr., Evangelist Ismael Montoya and Bro. Charlie Andrade traveled to assess the damage.
We traveled to the province of San Ysidro, Acapulco, Guerrero Mexico and met with pastor Alberto Parra and his wife. Their church building was completely destroyed and leveled by the fierce hurricane. Our job was to take financial relief and also offer emotional, spiritual and moral support to this region. After assessing the damage, we are glad to report that the department of Social Assistance has joined together with the Department of International Missions (Bishop Steve Moran) and the general fund (Bishop Andy Provencio) and the generous donations of all our pastors and churches to give $25,000.00 for the purchase a new property in the province of San Ysidro, Guerrero Mexico. We have instructed Pastor Alberto Parra to re-build the church! We give God glory and we sincerely thank every church that donated to this important cause.
As the department moves forward, we will be adding a few additional ministries that will serve all our Apostolic families. The mission of the department is clear: Be a helping hand to the orphans, widows and those that are in need!

The 2023 Ministerial Convention and National Youth Conference held in Anaheim, California, from November 21 to 25, was a call to all its attendees and to all the Apostolic Assembly to unite around a shared vision of building the church through evangelism, discipleship, and small groups. Through preaching, gathering, worshipping, and praying, a renewed conviction came upon the church to announce the Gospel of the Kingdom. In this article we have included three testimonies from three different kinds of attendees: Eunice Garcia, from perspective of the plateform co-host, James Knight as a attendee, and Pastor Alex Santo, from ministerial viewpoint. We pray that these testimonies would encourage you to build the church in Jesus Name!
“Are you going to the national youth convention this year?” One of the most asked and anticipated questions as the month of November approaches. You hear it at the local church, in the cell groups, district youth events, and dinner table. There’s such a beautiful expectation, and anticipation of the move of the Holy Ghost as the body of Christ comes together in one accord under one roof. Our beloved Apostolic Assembly was given the vision from our Bishop President Felipe Salazar “Build The Church” and that is exactly what was done. The beautiful ambiance and spirit behind convention, draws young people and brethren from all over the world to unite and experience such an amazing spirit led event. This year we had a sold out arena of over 7,000 young people!
In following the vision “Building Together” from our Messengers of Peace President, Dr. Waldo Moreno; for the first time in our convention history we witnessed the unity of two Apostolic leaders which represent two different Apostolic generations hosting the National Youth Convention. This specific segment was dedicated to start off the service before the pre-service prayer and close after the altar call segments. Given the privilege to co-host with Pastor Marty Calderon and address our Apostolic Assembly was an assignment I did not take lightly. We were broadcasting via Facebook and
Youtube live, and addressed the brothers and sisters all over the world throughout multiple continents. As Co-hosts of the pre-service and post-service segments we had to be alert at all times on the given call/start time, end time, and the message given throughout the preachings to summarize that into the wrap up segments. Aside from the night services we had the morning session programs we had to announce. It was great to share with the brethren how the Messenger of Peace kicked off the youth convention on Thanksgiving day, by going door to door bringing the good news of salvation in the city of Anaheim, California.
God truly places us in new experiences that allow us to bring him glory! In the green room backstage, we had our staff prayer and detailed walkthrough of the program announced by our convention coordinator. There are so many moving parts that happen behind the scenes to execute with excellence. It was a thrilling and Holy Ghost filled moment walking up that stage. While simultaneously, the platform coordinators are announcing the count down, the musicians are settling in, mics are being tested, and cameras are in action. Pastor Marty and I brainstormed together in conversation about the goodness of God, and what he is doing in this hour of the church. With all the nerves and no script we made our way up and started off the 2023 “Building Together” convention in the mighty name of Jesus!
I encourage any young lady or young man who has a desire to serve in God’s kingdom to always be ready to say “YES”! No matter how out of the norm and nerve wrecking that task may be. If it brings glory to God, step into it by faith, knowing that we have this “treasure in earthen vessels”(2 cor, 4:7). The treasure in you is waiting to be poured out! We must let ourselves be used in whatever capacity that Lord permits, knowing that it is not for man, but for God!
National Convention 2023 was an awesome move of God with amazing experiences, incredible worship, and impactful outreach to both the body of Christ and the community of Anaheim. Lives were changed, monuments of praise were revisited and built, and Apostolic history was remembered and used to establish a bright future for the church, in Jesus Name. But most importantly,
it was an opportunity to be truly Apostolic and united in praise, worship, and outreach.
National Convention 2023 was a new experience for me, as it was my first in Anaheim. All my Convention experiences and memories from the previous eight years had taken place in Long Beach where I had witnessed amazing moves of God, seen the lives of my local Youth changed as they worshipped alongside nearly 8,000 fellow Apostolic believers, and served in outreach to the community. However, there was an expectancy that Convention this year would be something even greater and the start of a new chapter in the narrative of the Apostolic church. I had heard stories relating the history of Conventions held in Anaheim, but I knew that returning to this location wasn’t just to revisit previous monuments of praise. God intended to take His church to new heights and give us new testimonies as we united in purpose and praise.
This was first evidenced in the lobby and hallways of the hotel. There were the usual experiences of seeing familiar faces and being reunited with church family not seen since the previous year. But amid this familiarity, there was an expectancy and atmosphere of unity and purpose. This was seen in meetings between Bishops, Pastors and Youth leaders that took place at tables in the lobby, to the Federation meetings in the ballrooms, and in the community outreach of the Messengers of Peace. Cohesiveness and commitment permeated every aspect of Convention this year and was
evident in the services themselves, with a center stage allowing everyone in the arena to worship in unity, and multiple generations being on stage to great the church and usher in the Spirit of God.
In all of this, one of the most defining moments of Convention this year took place shortly before the evening service on Friday. While people lined up outside of the arena, waiting for the doors to open, worship began to break out among those waiting. A small group started singing and soon, others joined in until the voices of all those present were raised in praise to our God. Not only was the body of Christ united in worship and truly entering into His courts with praise but since God inhabits the praise of His people, an impact was being made on the community of Anaheim itself and in the hearts of all who were listening. We were united as one church under one God and in this unity, the Spirit of God was flowing out in full strength. In this moment, I was reminded of what it means to be truly Apostolic and of the future that God has for His church as we unite to fulfil the great commission. Together and in the Name of Jesus, we will expand the Kingdom and reap the harvest that God has already prepared!
The highly anticipated and Spirit filled annual convention of the Apostolic Assembly family took place at the Anaheim Arena and at the Marriott Hotel.
The many sights and sounds that filled the atmosphere were evidence of the highly anticipated return to this nostalgic place. A place where the people of God had previously experienced a moment that confirmed the call to ministry or the start of a relationship that would result in lifelong friendships. For others, it was their first time attending a National Convention.
As we walked about between sessions and the venues, the smiles and the handshakes spoke a thousand words expressing how wonderful it was to reconnect with or meet new brothers and sisters in Christ. The lobbies were filled with people taking photos and reconnecting with colleagues or relatives. Some appeared to be joyful in nature and
others displayed deep emotion of perhaps their experiences of the current year or the last several years.
It was reported publicly that the Messengers of Peace Convention had 7,000 registered attendees representing the 27 districts and International Missions and thousands more connected online.
The Pastors’ Legislative Convention kicked off on Tuesday night. The sessions were charged with great vision and much concern for the growth of the church. Our denomination leaders lead each session with great patience, integrity and kindness towards each contributor, no matter the angle or idea of each new proposal or initiative. It established visible unity in the implementation of each proposal. During the Strategy of Jesus sessions, the Holy Spirit led each facilitator to challenge the comfort levels of each attendee, and to take action with passion and advance the Kingdom of God in this end time Harvest of Souls.
The meetings concluded with a clear vision casting by our President, Bishop Felipe Salazar, on the mission of the church for the year 2024 and beyond. Speaking courage and vision into the pastors, ministers, and their wives, it ignited a passion within each one to return to their local churches and to move beyond comforts to new heights in the assignment of the church.
In another venue after morning prayer, Pastors and their wives were cared for, and encouraged to consider the state of their physical, mental and spiritual health. That too, proved to be fruitful.
The last three nights of the convention were celebrated at the Anaheim Arena. The place was lit not only with lights and sounds from voices who sang their songs and instruments played by musicians, but by the manifest presence of God! We experienced each preachers inspired message to advance us into our mission to Build the Church: Mission Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is speaking a clear directive to the Apostolic Assembly leadership, with vibrant initiatives that provoke us to move forward in a united prophetic voice leading the church in the 21st century that will reach the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ until He comes for us!
The magnitude of the mission is greater than any one person. Jesus knew this. Although his work on the cross was a solitary work, that was just the starting point for the mission. The mission required and yet still requires the involvement of not just one, but an army of individuals that have taken ownership of the mission.
Jesus discipled 500, 12 more intimately and a closer knit group of 3. The goal was to instill in every heart of his disciples the gravity of the mission. The mission was serious, the burden was heavy and it required for the hearts to burn with the same intensity as this…”For God SO loved the world…” and “not that anyone would perish, but that all would come unto repentance.”
Within the conversion of the Apostle Paul, scripture implies through his very hand as he wrote his epistles that the mission was deeply imprinted in his being. His surrender was absolute. He withheld nothing. So as he established preaching points and churches throughout his field of work he left trustworthy people in each place as he moved on to the next, with the hope of returning back to visit the brothers that he left behind.
And in Philippians he writes, “19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy shortly unto you, that I also may be comforted when I know of your state; 20 for I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.”
The love and care that the Apostol Paul had for the church of Philippi was great. However, he knew that for the continuity and survival of the church in Philippi was greatly dependent on the leader that would care for and love them as intensely as the Apostol Paul.
Timothy was a disciple of the Apostle Paul. Deeper than that he was a protégé, better yet a spiritual son. (Philippians 2:22) Paul understood that the quality of being likeminded and having the same spirit would guarantee the perpetuity of the mission.
The Apostolic Men have come to the understanding that the continuity and perpetuity of the men in our assembly is vital to the church fulfilling its mission. We have taken on the momentous task of not only multiplying the number of men, but replicating leadership in the life of every man. Something the Apostle Paul did in the life of Timothy. He built him up so much so that he was confident enough to love and care as much as he did.
At the moment the Man comes into cognizance of his leadership the repercussive waves of impact become wider and wider Building Timothies at every turn.
With our Build Summit – Leaders Building Leaders, Leadership Summit we were able to transfer and impart the thoughts, practices but above all the spirit of Leadership into the lives of all that attended. Not only with our Summit, but with very conference geared at empowering each man to become the Leader he is, we will guarantee the perpetuity of the Apostolic Man. Building Timothies
“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”
We are living in a unique time of the Apostolic Assembly where Women’s public ministry is being both evaluated and scrutinized. Despite embedded cultural and theological concepts, the kingdom of darkness is being shaken by Apostolic women in both private and public arenas. In the context of the Proverbs virtuous woman, we find that “She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” Proverbs 31:26 (NIV)
Women who are trained, motivated, and filled with the Holy Spirit can reach women and families to facilitate the process of salvation winning entire households. They serve as instructors, teachers, and supporters of evangelistic efforts. They are small group leaders, prayer warriors, and hospitality-driven women who create a strong support system for their own families, pastoral families, congregations, and communities. Women help birth new believers in Christ when operating in their spiritual giftings.
Consequently, it is imperative that sound biblical teaching continues within the Apostolic Assembly to sustain the development of Apostolic Women who are active and have been ignited by the fire of the Holy Spirit to elevate their role in the church. Some may say that this may already be occurring, and the answer is, yes! God, by His grace and mercy, has been bringing up powerful Holy Ghost-filled Women of God that have been mentoring and discipling the current population of Apostolic Dorcas. However, what marvelous and amazing things can happen within the church when a concerted effort is made within all levels of our organization to equip, teach, disciple, and mentor our sisters-inChrist.
The time is now. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock, If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Revelations 3:20 (NIV). We are being called to action and the women of God have responded. The evidence of this response was seen in the surpassing of our International Missions goal for 2023. Our ladies not only reached the three million dollar goal but surpassed it. We have surely opened the door to the will of God in our lives. Not only have we elevated in our giving to the work of the Lord but we are stepping forward to teach, disciple, and mentor influencing through the Strategy of Jesus. Every Apostolic woman can dive into the cellular vision and truly flourish as she participates in building the church.
Today, women make up the majority of the membership of the Apostolic Assembly. What an enormous potential of grace, strength, and talent to advance the Great Commission to Build the Church and be a witness of the risen Christ! The results of a Godly, spirit-filled Apostolic woman are sure to impact in eternal ways. The Holy Spirit will empower anyone who like Isaiah desires to respond affirmatively, “Here I am, send me.”
In the complex landscape of modern society, nurturing the spiritual growth of the Messengers of Peace (MOP) demands innovative and purposeful approaches. A MOP vision focused on “Building Together “ is not just a proclamation of faith but a commitment to shaping our Apostolic youth by empowering, reminding, and inviting them to work with all the generations of the Apostolic Assembly to unite and build the kingdom of God together. Aligned with our Bishop President’s vision of Build the Church: Mission, we envision each member, particularly our MOP, as pivotal in advancing our church under the Holy Spirit’s guidance. We have designed 2024 with programs, ministries, and events as means to equip MOP, parents, ministers, and pastors with practical strategies for this purpose. Our MOP programming will also serve as ways to empower our Apostolic youth with innovative and tailored approaches to build the Kingdom of God, while we aim to unite between the Messengers of Peace and all other generations of the Apostolic Assembly. Our MOP ministries and programs for 2024 are as follows:
National Youth Advance (NYA) is the youth conference tour of the Messengers of Peace. Thousands of young people attend these meetings in their regions and are empowered through dynamic preaching, teaching, and singing. It is also a great opportunity for young people to connect and fellowship. NYA takes place annually in nine cities throughout the U.S. during the winter and spring months.
MOP Music is the official music label of the National Messengers of Peace, which serves to produce original Apostolic music that resonates with young people and can be readily sung in our churches. Launched in 2018, MOP Music also offers multi-tracks and serves to inspire a new generation of
Apostolic musicians, singers, songwriters, and recording engineers.
Driven Life is the young adult ministry of the Messengers of Peace, targeting those aged 26+, unmarried, and with no children. It is a ministry that wants to inspire, disciple, support, and encourage. Driven Life is designed to help young adults rediscover, relaunch, and reconnect to church, community, and God.
SEEDS is the fundraising ministry of the Messengers of Peace. Over the years, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been raised to fund the expansion of God’s kingdom. Monies raised throughout the year help to support missionary families, disaster
relief aid, international revivals, and national conferences.
Each year the Messengers of Peace coordinates a short-term international trip. Our goal is two-fold. First, to assist our international MOPs with outreach, preaching, singing, and fellowship. Second, to expose our U.S. MOPs to the international field, believing that someone will answer the call to missions or return home with a passion for reaching their local communities. In 2024, we will be taking the MOP to Barcelona, Spain.
The Build Congress is to equip and connect youth to ministry, as well as encourage and equip existing ministries within the local youth groups. Our goal is two-fold. First, to assist our National Missions MOPs with outreach, preaching, singing, and fellowship. Second, to expose our MOPs to the National Missions field in the U.S., believing that someone will answer the call to missions or return home with a passion for reaching their local communities. In 2024, we will be hosting our Build Congress in Tennessee.
mopED is the Christian education branch of the National Messengers of Peace. This ministry aims to produce educational content and resources to empower MOP to grow in their knowledge of God’s word and teach others the liberating truth of Scripture. By providing educational content, mopED plays a vital role in helping individuals within MOP and beyond to grow spiritually and contribute to the spread of the Kingdom.
The mopMAG is our quarterly magazine aimed at keeping you inspired and informed
as a Messenger of Peace. The mopMAG features motivational articles, fresh ideas, and spotlights of young people making a difference in their communities, churches, or districts.
National Youth Convention is the premier youth conference of the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Christ Jesus. Thousands of young people, leaders, and families alike attend this gathering for a time of spiritual renewal, equipping, and fellowship. NYC takes place biennially in a U.S. city, and while there, the Messengers of Peace also conduct street evangelism and community service activities. We aim to use 2024 as a year to reflect on NYC 2023 and begin preparations for 2025.
Recognizing the changing dynamics of communication and learning, the “Building Together” vision embraces innovative and engaging programs. This involves incorporating interactive learning methods and relevant topics that resonate with the youth. At our National Youth Advances, we also aim to create spaces for open dialogue and exploration, so these programs make faith a dynamic and living experience for our Messengers of Peace. This approach ensures that the message remains timeless while the methods of delivery evolve to meet the contemporary context of the youth’s lives. In conclusion, embracing the vision of “Building Together,” the Messengers of Peace charts a course toward a future where the youth are not just the future of the Apostolic Assembly but active contributors to its present vitality. God is going to pour out His power in a mighty way. Let’s open our hearts and minds and receive from the Holy Spirit. This is our hour to Unite. This is our hour to Build. This is our hour to Build Together.
“What do you guys wanna write about?” This is a doomed question for a songwriter. If you are in a songwriting session with other writers, this question usually implies a lack of preparation. No one did any homework. No one brought anything to the table. There is no starting point. You now have to create a song out of thin air.
This was the doomed question at the start of an already seemingly doomed writing session. The MOP song writing team was scheduled to get together to write after a long time apart. And for one reason or another, at the last minute, a lot of writers could not make it. That left us with 3 writers: Me, Victor Prado II, and our fearless leader, Luke Barbosa.
This is when Victor chimes, “I want us to write a song that encourages the church to never give up; an anthem!”
This idea immediately brings me to Job. Job was really “down on his luck.” He lost his family, health, and wealth. He is discouraged and crying out to the Lord. Finally, the Lord responds. But he doesn’t respond how I would’ve liked. He doesn’t say “Job, I’m gonna get you through this. You can do it! You’re almost there!” God instead says, “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know...” God continues on for 4 chapters describing his own greatness to Job, not to ignore Jobs’ problems, but to remind Job that God is the mastermind behind all of creation. He can surely handle what Job is going through.
“So, how do we say that?” I ask after telling the guys my thoughts on Job. Luke replies “What do you know about Yahweh?”
Flash forward to the National Youth Convention of 2023. We are about to go up to sing, and the song I am, by far, the most nervous to sing is our new song, “What do you know about Yahweh?” I tell myself all of the things, “I love this song, but will our youth love it? It’s never been heard before, so the energy probably will be a little low. Remember, this is for God!”
That ended up being my favorite song of the weekend. The youth exploded with praise. They immediately understood the message and the assignment. And in that moment, all together as a church body, we were united in the boldness of the strength of our God; all because someone asked the question, “What do you guys wanna write about?”
This is the goal of MOP music. This is our future. Connecting our churches through worship. Uniting together in message and praise. Encouraging young songwriters to share their song with others. Seeing the message of Christ shared in a way that can encounter that young person sitting alone in their room thinking about giving up. Reminding them that God holds the moon and the stars in His hands, and He can surely handle whatever you are facing.
Years ago, I had an experience where a church leader confronted me in the church parking lot and scolded me over something small. He was abrasive and condescending. The two of us hadn’t known each other very long, as I was still new to the church. I’ll never forget how little he made me feel and how bad his approach was. His method got in the way of his message.
I’m not the only one who has experienced something like this. It’s a form of church hurt that pushes people away instead of drawing them closer. This is why the church needs to practice the art of speaking the truth in love if we ever hope to reach and help those we care about.
In Ephesians 4:15, the apostle Paul instructs us to “speak the truth in love.” This commandment is not always easy to follow in a world where harsh and divisive communication has become commonplace, especially on social media. But as believers, we’re called to follow this commandment with grace and empathy, even when it’s difficult.
“The truth” in this context refers to God’s truth. It’s not our truth or our opinions but the truth that God has revealed to us through His Word. When we speak the truth, we’re sharing God’s Word with others. This can be challenging, especially if the truth we’re sharing confronts their choices. However, we’re called to do it in a way that honors God and shows love to others.
Truth is the only thing that can set a person or situation free. Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Therefore, speaking the truth in love reminds us of how important it is to keep the main thing the main thing. We cannot allow our egos, biases, emotions, or personal preferences to distract from the truth of God’s Word.
“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
The mistake that Christians make is delivering the right message in the wrong manner. The goal is not to win the argument but to win the person. The Bible says that “he who wins souls is wise.” If you win the person, you win the opportunity to plant the truth.
Speaking the truth in love is a skill that requires practice and intentionality. Here are a few tips to follow:
• BUILD TRUST.
Communication is most effective when it’s built on a foundation of trust and respect. Take the time to build relationships with those you’re communicating with, and show them that you care about them as individuals. Someone once said, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” This is all about trust. And we earn that trust by taking an interest in those we hope to influence in a positive way.
• LISTEN ATTENTIVELY.
Communication is a two-way street. Make sure you’re listening to the other person and responding with empathy and understanding. James said, “Let every man be swift to hear…” (James 1:19). It’s human nature to want to speak before we listen, especially if we believe in our words. But here’s what I’ve learned over the years: To win someone’s heart, you must first win their ears. And you can’t win their ears until you lend them yours.
• SPEAK WITH KINDNESS.
Even when you’re delivering a difficult message, make sure your tone and attitude reflect God’s love and grace. Avoid being harsh, critical, or judgmental. James continued, “Let every man be…slow to speak” (v. 19). It’s easy to talk. To vent. To answer. But there’s a vast difference between just talking and speaking a word of truth. Be patient. Wait on the Lord. And while you wait, pray and make sure it’s the Holy Ghost and not your flesh that wants to speak. Ask God to give you the right words, the right tone, and the right attitude.
Love is at the heart of this commandment. If we’re speaking the truth without love, we’re not doing it correctly. But when we communicate with love and grace, we create a safe space for people to ask questions, seek guidance, and grow without the threat of criticism. The more we practice this, the fewer incidents we’ll have like the one I had. Of course, there is a time and place for correction and godly counsel. The parking lot after church is not one of them.
If we follow this guidance with a heart to help people, God will surely put more of them in our path.
“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.”
Proverbs 3:13-15
Janae E. Quezada, D.Min. DeanHigher education was a standard or expectation for my siblings and I, as was serving the Lord. However, as Apostolics, our parents taught and exemplified to us that the two can and should always be coupled together. For this world, education can be viewed as a pursuit for accomplishment, for prestige, or for personal investment. For many, it is often pursued with the goal of securing a successful career, and financial security. However, for the life of a follower of Christ, it can be understood as an opportunity; an opportunity to glorify and serve God. From a biblical standpoint, education is greatly encouraged. The scriptures indicate how valuable knowledge is, and how blessed one is through the gain of knowledge. We are meant to expand our knowledge, to think critically, to be able to distinguish between true or false information. As believers, we should not fear the pursuit of higher education, but rather pursue it with the correct focus. That is, understanding that educational opportunities are not for personal gain, but rather to utilize information, knowledge, and wisdom gained to better serve the church and fulfill the mission of Christ.
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians 3:17
The scriptures provide various examples of educated individuals who utilized their educational opportunities and knowledge for the kingdom of God. Daniel and the “three Hebrew boys” are a prime example of the value an education can hold within a believer’s life, and how it can serve as an aid for the work of the Lord. Daniel was selected to be educated and serve in the kingdom.
4 young men in whom there was no blemish, but good-looking, gifted in all wisdom, possessing knowledge and quick to understand, who had ability to serve in
the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the language and literature of the Chaldeans. 5 And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king’s delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might serve before the king.” Daniel 1:4-5.
They were isolated from their families, educated in the language and literature of the Chaldeans, served before the king, but at the end of the day were unwilling to deny their God and were willing to be thrown in the furnace for not worshiping the king Nebechadnezzar’s idol. In examining these four Hebrew boy’s trajectory, we can observe that they were able to pursue a higher education, excel, and most importantly, remain steadfast in their faith. How? Through six foundational postures in life:
a) To Honor and Glorify God:
“19 Then the king interviewed them, and among them all none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore they served before the king. 20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm. “ Daniel 1:19-20
These young men stood out among all of the other individuals under the king. They were excellent in their work, and demonstrated dedication and discipline. The scriptures show that regardless of how much they were honored or distinguished, they did not lose focus and remained humble. Daniel 6:3 says that he was “distinguished above all the other presidents and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him.” Daniel did not seek personal recognition or self Glory, but rather always pointed his abilities and success to the Lord. The more he accomplished and advanced in his positions, the more he glorified God. Daniel stood out not because of his education, but because he had an education partnered with his greater purpose.
b) To Expand His kingdom
“Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God! Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this.” Daniel 3:28-29
Through their example and testimony, the king’s heart and posture was transformed. So much so, that he put a new decree out so that others would now acknowledge and glorify God. The lives of these Hebrew boys remind us of the effect of doing excellent work for the glory of God can be tremendous, it can be Kingdom changing.
Prior to receiving a higher education and greater schooling, these young men already had a firm foundation. They were rooting in their faith and teaching of the scripture. Though we do not know their age, we are told that they had already received an Israelite education. “young men in whom there was no blemish, but good-looking, gifted in all wisdom possessing knowledge and quick to understand.’’ Daniel 1:4. It is our responsibility as parents, churches and individuals that prior to pursuing a higher education, we ensure that we are standing on a firm foundation of faith.
“Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then let our appearance be examined before you, and the appearance of the young men who eat the portion of the king’s delicacies; and as you see fit, so deal with your servants.” So he consented with them in this matter, and tested them for ten days.” Daniel 1:12-14
Even though these young men had been called to a higher position and were exposed to the culture and temptations of the Chaldeans, they set personal boundaries in place to protect their faith and beliefs. They were not ashamed to stand out from others or the culture around them. As Christians, it is our responsibility to do the same especially while pursuing a higher education. We are there to learn and grow, but not compromise. We must set boundaries in our lives that will strengthen our faith, just as these
young men did, rather than diminish it. That is, choosing which events to support or avoid, which friends to keep close and others distant, and to never compromise our faithfulness to the Lord and His Church.
16 So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the interpretation. 17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, 18 that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Daniel 2:16-18
Daniel and his friends remained united. They looked out for one another and protected each other. As Christians, throughout our pursuit of higher education, we must ensure that we have a necessary and essential support system in place that will protect us and keep us grounded. This is a very intentional decision to remain or get connected to a church where we not only will attend, but also serve in. To intentionally choose friends who have also been through the process and will provide us with wise counsel just as Daniel provided to his friends. A strong support system will keep us connected to our purpose, help us flee temptations, and will hold us accountable.
Opportunities of higher education are not placed in our lives to cause us to lose focus, but to rather fulfill our purpose on earth, edify the Church, and better fulfill the mission of Christ. These young Hebrew boys exemplified the blessing of higher education serving a purpose far greater than their personal gain or recognition. My prayer is that whichever field of higher education Apostolic students pursue, they will, like Daniel, use their giftings to serve and edify the church, engage the “world’s” culture without compromising their faith, and serve as a testament of the power and goodness of God through their knowledge, wisdom and work in Jesus Name.
I want to start by giving all honor and glory to God for the privilege of sharing with the wonderful people of God, “The Future of the Juniors Messengers of Peace”. As we embark on this journey, I am reminded of the encouraging words in the book of Jeremiah (29:11): “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Standing on the cusp of a new chapter in the story of the Juniors Messengers of Peace, we acknowledge both the honor and responsibility that come with building and shaping the future of this ministry.
Before we dive into our aspirations, I want to recognize the unsung heroes of our past— the unnamed leaders who left indelible footprints for us to follow. To those who showed unlimited love, passion, and dedication to our Juniors, though unnamed, you are never forgotten. I also extend heartfelt gratitude to our present leadership, starting with our Advisor Bishop Andy Provencio, Secretary Minister Jorge & Ailene Zamora, Treasurer Minister Don & Rosanna Wagner, and my wonderful wife Iris Lopez.
Understanding that the future hinges on a solid foundation, we draw parallels with architecture. Just as a solid foundation supports a building, our present and solid foundation will provide a stable base for the Juniors Messengers of Peace. This ministry will be built on the Word of God, inspiration, learning, worship, and fellowship, and is destined for greater heights.
Our focus is to re-establish the Juniors Messengers of Peace at the National, District, and Local levels. In the first year, we aim to build relationships and network with other Junior Leaders, fostering unity and shared purpose. As part of our goals, we plan to reintroduce “Bible Quizzing,” emphasizing not just the competition but encouraging our Juniors to read, memorize, and meditate on the Word of God. As we reinstate this ministry, a lot of activities and plans are on the table, but we must first receive confirmation to move forward so, follow us on Instagram at “Juniors Messengers of Peace” for further details!
Over the last eight years overseeing the Juniors ministry, my wife Iris and I have realized the urgent need to minister and embrace the Juniors of our beloved Apostolic Assembly. In a world inundated with false teachings, especially through social media, schools, friends, and communities, we must act now and be intentional in guiding this generation.
The hunger for God’s presence among our Juniors at the recent Youth Conference in Anaheim, CA, was evident and powerful. However, we also observed some lacking interest and a bit distant. We cannot afford for the Samuels of this generation to hear the voice of God and not recognize it. Now is the time to embrace and impact this generation with the genuine Word of God and His presence.
In the eyes of the Lord, the future of the Juniors Messengers of Peace is precious and of great value. As a board, we see them no other way, and we are committed to working alongside every Bishop, Pastor, and Junior Director to ensure that this generation grows in Christ, in their local churches, and develop their God-given talents to extend the Kingdom of God. For this, we make ourselves available to every District and Local church to assist in any way possible.
Embarking on this journey to reinstate “The Juniors Messengers of Peace,” we are aware of the challenges and responsibilities ahead. Recognizing the significance of spiritual guidance and collective prayer, we humbly request your prayers for the success, impact, and sustainability of this ministry. With the support of every District and Local church, we believe our efforts will be strengthened, making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.
In conclusion, my deepest gratitude extends to Bishop President Felipe Salazar and the General Board of Directors for your support, engagement, and dedication to this ministry. As we move forward, I am inspired to know that we have your complete support. To “The Juniors Messengers of Peace,” we are here to support, encourage, love, and inspire you, helping you reach your highest potential in Christ. You are an integral part of our church, and we eagerly anticipate witnessing the remarkable work the Lord will do through you and this ministry.
Together, we will see the hand of God move in you and through you. As we build the Church, let us build it together, in Jesus’ Name.
How many of you have been scrolling through your social media and come across someone who is documenting their return to homesteading? Or maybe you know a few hermanos or co-workers that are attempting to grow their own food, or raise their own chicken ...or, my personal favorite, they’re making their own bread! Have you seen this mass push towards a return to “simpler times” where you knew what was in your food? People are getting tired of the toxins that are being slipped into their foods and so to preserve the integrity of their family’s health, they’ve cut out the middle man and decided to go to the source! This is exactly what’s happening in the world of fashion today. They’ve run out of ideas and skin and are now making modesty into a fashion statement.
Over the years we have allowed our society AKA the world to contaminate and control our fashion supply. They are the source of our inspiration, the influencers of our apparel and the dictators of what is acceptable in the church. It is as ridiculous to think that big, godless, money-driven entities are determining what is holy and what is not all in the name of modern fashion.
Over the course of time women have associated their clothing as a symbol of status, personal expression and as a reflection of their culture. We can go back to Bible days and dig deep into what each garment meant, but let’s go back just 24 years shall we?
From 2000-2010 if you’re not saved, everything is pierced, frosted, cropped, ripped, or lowrise. Or it’s a tracksuit! If you are saved/in church, it’s glittery, belted, cargo and/or floor length. Or it’s a suit! So long as it was “praise proof”! We were just coming out of the era of floral, shapeless dresses where sunflowers abounded! For most of the Lady Boomers on down - this is where style and modesty really started to take a turn. I would venture to say that there was still a clear line of modesty in the church. There were those who looked the part, and those who didn’t. Now, stay with me here…I will explain a little more of what I mean later. But the truth was, if your hair & hemlines were long enough, you tended to get tossed into the modest category and we used to automatically associate modesty with holiness regardless of what your heart looked like!
So now, we are full circle where modesty is back in fashion…and yet, our beautiful Apostolic women have never struggled more with modesty than we are right now. You may ask, why does it matter so much what you wear when your heart is really what matters? Well, I’ll tell you - because Proverbs 4:23 says “Above all else, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it.” Imagine living in a town that has one central well that gives the most crisp and refreshing water! What if you start dumping trash into it? What if you start emptying your used, dirty water into there? You would contaminate the well and everyone who draws from there will be sick. Depending on what is in there, the results can even be fatal. Now imagine that the well is your heart, and the people and things in your life draw from your well. What type of water does your well give?
Matthew 12:24 says, “...Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” Whatever is in your heart will overflow into your daily life. So, it is safe to say that your heart is quite literally on display by the words you speak and the actions you take. To be sure, the contents of your closet do not ALWAYS determine the contents of your heart. You can be the most modest-looking woman, but have the most immodest heart and mouth! Simply put, modesty without conviction of the heart, is simply a fashion statement. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will ishis good, pleasing and perfect will.” (NIV)
If we peel back the fabric, and peel back the layers of the heart we will see that at the core of an immodest heart is someone who has not submitted themselves completely to the Lord. There is an anointing that comes with a submitted and modest heart. I have seen men and women who are not of our organization and who don’t look like us move with great anointing. Why is this? Is the anointing in their clothing? Is the anointing in their words? No - the anointing is the result of a submitted heart. A heart that is under authority.
A person that has submitted themselves to their authority, and to the Lord is a person that has an anointing that pours out into the rest of their life and ministry. A Modest Heart cannot be fabricated, or replicated without first submitting yourself totally to Jesus and to the authority He placed over you. Hebrews 13:17 says, “Obey your spiritual leaders and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them a reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.”
So, for the Apostolic Woman of today seeking a breakthrough in her ministry, or in her relationships - try on a modest heart. It always fits, it’s perfect for every occasion, and it looks great on you!
It is with great delight that I greet you all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the exciting news from our Corporate Office:
In the year of 2023, our Corporate Office was blessed to be under the direction and leadership of our Bishop President, Felipe A. Salzar, and the newly elected General Board of Directors. The first year of their administration was a year of abundant blessing and growth! At the corporate level, we also experienced advancement and growth through the efforts of our employees to form two employee-led committees (the Organizational Development Committee and the Safety Committee), training and implementation of Cal OSHA protocols, and the hiring of four new employees who serve in various departments. These accomplishments certainly do not outline the entirety of our collective efforts as a Corporate Staff, but they are some of the highlights of the year! We also want to celebrate the incredibly successful National Youth Convention that took place in 2024 and acknowledge the tremendous efforts of all of our staff members who worked tirelessly to serve the National Messengers of Peace, our pastors, and ultimately the entire church body.
Conventions would not be possible without the help and support of our amazing staff!
Part of building and maintaining employee morale and engagement is by recognizing our employees for the tremendous work they do every day. Each month, a single staff member is selected and nominated for the Employee of the Month Award. At the conclusion of the year, one of those employees is selected to receive the Employee of the Year Award.
We are proud to announce that, Sis. Hedy Ramirez was nominated and selected as the Employee of the Year for 2023! Sis. Hedy serves in our Corporate Office as our Receptionist and she is responsible for greeting and welcoming the guests of our Corporate Office, as well as managing our incoming calls.
In addition to her regular job duties, Sis. Hedy goes above and beyond by assisting several departments with large projects and by helping anywhere there is a need. Everyone who works with her knows that she has an infectious smile and the
kindest heart for people. She is truly, a woman of God with a servant’s heart, who has a strong love and compassion for the people of God. Our Corporate Office is extremely blessed to have Sis. Hedy as part of our team and we unequivocally concur that she is fully deserving of this high award and recognition.
As the year progresses, we continue to work towards improving and beautifying our Corporate Headquarters property. One of the most recent improvements includes the repaving and resealing of the parking lot. In conjunction with Summit Church and Pastor Frank Quezada, the Corporate Office employed the services of a local asphalt company, owned by an Apostolic brother, to help us make this major improvement at a minimal cost. Truly, this service that was provided was a genuine
financial blessing to the Apostolic Assembly! We thank Summit Church for their collaboration on this project and for helping us beautify our property!
A few other notable improvements include:
1) the recent repair and replacement of multiple A/C units on the building;
2) new landscaping and grass installation on various parts of the lawn;
3) we are preparing to install a new corporate sign at the entrance of the property! We will continue to share more information on these projects and improvements as they take place!
As the Body of Christ, and the family of Christ, we celebrate the victories together and we also share the burden of loss together. Our Corporate Staff was greatly disheartened early this month at the tragic news of the sudden, unexpected passing of the parents of one of our employees, Sis. Esmeralda Rodriguez. Sis. Esmeralda has been a faithful employee for almost three years, and she has been a tremendous blessing to the office. Her family is currently experiencing the tremendous heartbreak and loss of her parents, and our Corporate Staff has surrounded our sister with prayers and love. We genuinely thank all of the pastors, churches, and friends who have contacted our Corporate Office and the Rodriguez family to express their condolences and to demonstrate their love for Sis. Esmeralda. We ask for your continued prayers for Sis. Esmeralda and her family as they navigate this very difficult season.
In the coming months, we have exciting opportunities for our Corporate Office and staff members for continued growth, training, and advancement! Our entire staff is passionate about the Mission of the Apostolic Assembly and the we are 100% behind the vision and leadership of our President and General Board! We are here to serve the church! If I, or any of our staff members, can be of service to you, please do not hesitate to contact us during business hours by calling our main office number, 909987-3013. Our prayer is that God continually blesses you, your family, and His Church!
In His Service,
Min. Gabriel Gonzalez General Manager
