ACES is a four-year program for future teachers focusing on mentoring, leadership, advocacy, service and professional development. ACES students have a commitment to public education and a passion for working with children. ACES provides a network for future teachers that supports them during their time at the university and into their career.

• Live with fellow ACES in a Residential Learning Community (RLC) on campus* • Learn from an upperclassman mentor • Participate in a community building retreat • Seminar course on Teacher Leadership

• Assist with Fall Move-In Day • Mentor incoming students • Immersive Enrichment Trip with focus on urban school district

• School District Orientation • Attend resume workshops

• Transitional Professional Development Retreat • Correspond with a professional mentor *First year students at Appalachian State University are required to live on campus. ACES members live together in a RLC in the same residence hall on campus.

APPLY! 1. Complete your Appalachian State University application by November 1. 2. Complete the Signature Scholarship Program application by November 15. Be sure to select “ACES� when applying and complete the essay.
3. Watch your email for more information. Students should hear an ACES admission decision no later than March 1. Selected students must commit to ACES by May 1.
