Who is building the manufacturing unit at St. Louis‌? A start-up namely Evolution St. Louis, founded by industry entrepreneurs John Elmuccio and Jon Lewis, is planning to come up with a high-tech manufacturing facility in St. Louis’ Garment District, as per media reports. The new facility will reportedly employ around 50 to 60 workers over its first three years in operation. Further, the manufacturing unit will have 300 flatbed knitting machines from German manufacturer STOLL.

“This facility will revitalise the knit sector, strengthen ‘Made in USA’ fashion and create good-paying, sustainable manufacturing jobs in St. Louis,” stated Elmuccio, adding, “We want to build the supply chain of the future.” It may be mentioned here that for the upcoming facility being constructed at an estimated cost of US $ 5 million, the start-

up has credited partnerships with local officials and economic development groups for helping to establish the factory. St. Louis' Garment District, which once won praise for its introduction of the junior-size dress, is said to be second to New York City in fashion design and manufacturing. It may be mentioned here that John Elmuccio has an extensive fashion background, working for the likes of Warnaco, Maidenform, and Leslie Fay while Jon Lewis also has a similar background. He was earlier the Vice-President Sales for Ralph Lauren. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Apparel Resources provides latest news, features, analysis, retail & sourcing
