WELCOME

A letter from Cox Communications Dear Friends, This year marks the 5th Annual Cox Providence Rhode Races and Cox Communications is proud to sponsor an event that continues to attract runners, families and fans to enjoy the diverse culture the City of Providence has to offer. At Cox, we believe our company is only as strong as the communities in which our employees live and work. Annually, we sponsor fundraising campaigns to support The Cox Charities New England Fund at The Rhode Island Foundation. Fueled by the critical need to engage children when they are most vulnerable to negative social pressure, Cox Charities New England concentrates its charitable giving on after-school programs that focus on youth and education. Connecting for Children and Families, Providence Summerbridge, and Newport Community School are just a few of the organizations we’ve funded through the years to further support their commitment to providing quality after-school programming to youth in our local communities.

PAUL CRONIN COX COMMUNICATIONS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT & GENERAL MANAGER

Most importantly, we are proud of our 1,200 employees and their commitment to our customers and the communities we serve. Throughout the weekend, you will have the opportunity to interact with many of them who are serving as event volunteers and participating in the Races. Many thanks to the sponsors, supporters and participants who collectively have supported the Cox Providence Rhode Races over the years and have made it a signature event in our community. Best wishes for a fun and fulfilling weekend! Regards,

Paul Cronin Senior Vice President & General Manager Cox Communications New England

WELCOME

A letter from the Mayor Dear Friends, Welcome to the great City of Providence for the 5th Annual Cox Providence Rhode Races. Providence is honored to once again be the host city for these exciting races. The terrain of our city is the perfect venue for those running the Cox Sports Marathon or UnitedHealthcare Providence Half-Marathon. Roger Williams Park is the perfect venue for the Kids Race and 5k. I commend Cox Communications and UnitedHealthcare for their ongoing support of this spirited event, whose proceeds will benefit such worthy causes as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the March of Dimes and Cox Charities New England. Providence is a diverse city with many amenities and a rich 375 year history. While in Providence, explore our city. You will find the finest restaurants, quaint shops, and flourishing museums and art galleries. Each neighborhood has its own eclectic mix of historic homes and ethnic bistros and cafĂŠs. It is my distinct privilege to welcome the 6,000 runners from across the country and the world to Providence. Enjoy your stay here and come back soon.

ANGEL TAVERAS MAYOR CITY OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND
