ho is Lisa Herring?

While going through difficult times, what helped you sparkle like a diamond?

Lisa Herring is a wife, First Lady, mother of four beautiful children, entrepreneur, praise worshiper, songstress, musician, and friend to many.

“Sparkling like a diamond” through my faith has brought me through difficult times and yet I always bounce back. However, my light was dimmed by circumstances beyond my control, when my mother suffered a massive heart attack and later died. I became her caretaker, placing my health and well-being on the back burner as most women do. I had begun a weight loss journey before her illness only to gain some of the weight back. I was in a broken place after her death, until I went to “The City of First Power Brunch” in 2017. That morning, while getting dressed I recall not wanting to go, but God was stirring up something on the inside of me. He whispered, “Today is a breakthrough for you.” When I got there, I remember looking at the many of the speaker options, while trying to select three. My eyes were drawn to the Health and Fitness session, so I hurried over to get a seat. That day, I met Rico Browning, the Bodymaster. He was the facilitator for the session. Through him, God allowed me to reinvent myself, and He gave me a brand-new life, restored my purpose and renewed His promise. As I look back knowing that I was unhealthy and wearing a size twenty-six, I’m amazed by God’s grace and favor.

So what is your story? “My story” begins with my mom, a strong woman with many positive attributes. I desired to be just like her, and in many ways, I am. I inherited her good and bad parts, like being addicted to pop and struggling with my weight. That’s the bigger part of my story, being overweight has affected me since my childhood. I was left with emotional scars, but I never allowed them to consume me or stop me from pursuing my interests. I played basketball, was an assistant drum major, a majorette, and marching band member. Those were some of the things that God allowed me to showcase my gifts and talents through.

What has been your inspiration growing up? “My inspiration” comes from Wonder Woman, she’s my hero. I admire her strength, power, and ability to be invincible. As a young girl, I wanted to be like her. When I was in the second grade, I asked my mom for a pair of Wonder Woman Underoos. I remember the sense of pride I felt whenever I wore them. The first time I tried on a pair, I recall jumping out from underneath my mom’s sewing machine table pretending that I was Wonder Woman to my mom’s surprise.

What are the biggest takeaways you want people to remember about your journey? “The take away is this,” I want people to know that I’m just like them, and if I can do it, so can they. Reach deep down inside your heart and pull out the person who’s buried. Your inspiration may not come from Wonder Woman but remember we all have our own destination where God wants to take us.

Talking about your (POWER). What has been your biggest accomplishment thus far? “My Power” comes from being a mom of four beautiful children, a wife of a Pastor who is responsible for pastoring a family church, the owner of a bakery shop called Manna from Heaven by Lisa, and from my recent weight loss. I’m amazed to have accomplished these successes.

What qualities are necessary for women to accomplish their (POWER)? “Accomplish your power” by trusting and believing that God is the key. Never settle for anything less than your personal best.

How have you embraced your (POWER)?

What advice would you give women to help them implement their (POWER)?

“Embracing my Power” comes from hearing God’s word, prayer, worship, and spiritual warfare. My Wonder Woman powers have caused me to soar as I tap into them.

“Implement your power” by taking a step back to look over your past choices; get ready to embrace a brand-new life. Be mindful of the legacy you want to leave.

How can women benefit from the Power Brunch? “Benefits of the Power Brunch are many.” I’ve been two years in a row and have met new friends, shed some tears because I came with an open mind. Come expecting to receive something special. It’s a life-changing experience. Be inspired!

ENERGY LEADERSHIP #powerpurposeplan

BY: KALENA JAMES-Business Leadership Coach Age of Entitlement In most organizations, there are three types of people: those who see the glass as half full, those who see it as half empty, and much more than both of those combined, those who ask “Who stole half my drink!” Perhaps you’ve heard of the phrase, the Age of Enlightenment. We call this phenomenon, the “Age of Entitlement.”

MORE THAN

50%

of people would leave their jobs tomorrow if they could because they don’t like their managers. A Gallup poll revealed that more than 50% of people would leave their jobs tomorrow if they could. The main reason cited? They don’t like their managers. Another Gallup survey showed that more than 70% of people were not engaged in their

roles on the job, and about 90% of them were completely disconnected from what they do.

A good leader is one who can tell another how to reach his or her potential; a great leader is one who can help another discover this potential for him or herself.

This disengagement and disconnection costs corporate America billions upon billions of dollars a year.

– Bo Bennett

So what is Energy Leadership? Energy Leadership™ refers to both a particular and unique form of leadership, and also, literally, to the process of leading energy, so that it works for you rather than against you.

We have two basic premises:

1- Everyone leads, either by choice or default

2- The higher your

overall energy level, the more satisfied and fulfilled you’ll be. Our studies show that it is 100% true: whether it’s measured in finances, fulfillment, peace of

mind, relationships, or more, people who have the highest levels of consciousness have the most energy and report the most success in their lives.

Energy attracts like energy! We create our realities, based on our perceptions. Energy attracts like energy! Your perceptions create your energy leadership level, and that creates the world you know. As a leader, you can inspire yourself and others to greatness through developing

12

your own energy leadership strengths. Just ask yourself… How often do believe you’re leading your life, and actions with intention? Moreover, how often are you in default mode? Reacting to life? If this is you, I often ask my client if that’s who they really want to be? It’s up to you—are you at the effects of your life or living at the cause of your life? If you are, the door is now open. Welcome to Energy Leadership!

DIAM ND spotlight PURPOSE BY: BENITA TYLER

W

ho is Othello Bach?

How have you embraced your (PURPOSE)?

Othello Bach is a writer, songwriter, and artist.

“I embrace my purpose” by watching my thoughts and have trained myself to image all the beautiful things in my life that I want to happen.

So what is your story? “My Story” at seven years of age I watched my mother burn to death. Her death caused my siblings and me to be placed in an orphanage where I was raped, and incest was the norm. I realized early on that I couldn’t read and was scared to death that my peers would find out and would tease me. I recall having an “aha moment” after noticing that sounds and syllables make words and that letters have sound assignments. When I was in the eighth grade, I began teaching myself how to read. Being labeled as stupid wasn’t an option. I’d cheat to pass a test and wrote the answers to the questions on my fingers. I was clever! I stole a flashlight, and in the dark of the night, I pulled out a baby book that I checked out from the library and took my time sounding out the letters underneath the covers until I mastered the book. Scary books were my favorite, but their words wouldn’t escape my mind. I was haunted by them. At that time, I learned words have power and more importantly I could change my world with the stroke of my pen. When I was eighteen, I was going through a difficult time and tried to commit suicide to escape my pain. My efforts were foiled, but I managed to put myself in a coma for nearly two months. However, it wasn’t my time to go, there was much more for me to do. My first book was my memoir entitled “Crying to the Wind.” I used my large vocabulary to sprinkle it with vivid words and dark themes. When I sent it to a publisher, I received a letter back stating that it was difficult for them to believe that a girl my age could’ve gone through the trauma described on the pages of my book. In other words, to them my nonfiction book was unbelievable. I was taken aback, I knew a lot about fear and decided to use all my experiences to write several best sellers. I learned that doubt can seep in and will interfere with life, but you must believe in yourself.

While going through difficult times, what helped you sparkle like a diamond? “What helps me sparkle like a diamond” is selling my books to the world and getting to know beautiful people. I believe that everyone in the world is a diamond and if we treat people right, we will find that they will sparkle back at us.

What are the biggest takeaways you want people to remember about your journey? “My biggest takeaway” is that I hope that people will remember that I tried, I gave it my best shot and made others laugh. Those are the things I would like to be recognized for. I also would like to be remembered kindly.

What qualities are necessary for women to accomplish their (PURPOSE)? “To accomplish your purpose” you have to make a decision to do something, be dedicated and make every day a new fight for where you want to go. The number one thing is to decide on a goal and to set mini goals to accomplish them.

What advice would you give women to help them implement their (PURPOSE)? I suggest that people write down five things that they can do to reach their goal and once those are achieved repeat those steps until you reach the big goal. Write down all the things that haunt you and face them! We are all accountable for what we experience in life. Implement your Purpose- Decide to do something and go for it wholeheartedly.

What has been your inspiration growing up? “Inspiration for me” comes from reading books and allowing my thoughts to create new exciting motions. Reading helps me to realize my full potential.

How can women benefit from the Power Brunch? Women who attend the Power Brunch “will meet some inspiring women, but you have to believe that you are one of them. I highly recommend the Power Brunch and encourage you to attend.”

Talking about your (PURPOSE). What has been your biggest accomplishment thus far? “My most significant accomplishment” is whatever my next accomplishment will be.

PURPOSE DRIVEN BUSINESS #powerpurposeplan

BY: APRIL NAME-Brand Strategist & Designer There’s no doubt that we are living in an increasingly loud and crowded consumer marketplace. As a business owner or entrepreneur, it has become more important than ever to differentiate yourself from the hordes of other businesses who are offering similar products or services to yours. The most impactful way to set your business apart is by defining your purpose and allowing it to drive your decisions, offerings and customer interactions. Companies who consciously embed their purpose into every aspect of their operations are the ones who will see the most growth, innovation and transformation. They also reap the benefit of having more engaged employees who work harder and are more invested in the success of the company.

LESS THAN

50%

of executives reported that purpose helps guide their strategies and decisions.*

Knowing your “why”, therefore, is a critical building block for any business—no matter if you have hundreds of employees or you are a solopreneur.

When starting a business it is common practice to craft a mission statement. Sadly, a lot of businesses struggle to go further in implementing their purpose and mission into every aspect of their business. Does this sound familiar?

How can you translate your purpose into business success? 1. Make it clear— There are few things more damaging to a business than a lack of clarity. When defining your purpose, take care to make it easy for everyone on your team to understand. It should be something that you can clearly communicate to your customer base through your offerings as well as your marketing efforts.

Every action you take in business tells your customers what you are about. Keep your purpose in the front of your mind and outline processes to help you carry out your purpose in all of your actions.

4. Get them on board— If you have employees, your focus should be to hire and teach to culture and purpose before skills. When an employee understands your purpose and believes in it, they will be more successful in their job and grow into a big picture thinker who will put more into their work to make the company and themselves a success. If you’re in a place where you are struggling with employee engagement, circle back to your purpose. Give disengaged employees a voice in finding new ways to celebrate and live out the purpose.

2. Use it early and often—

5. Spread the word—

Your purpose doesn’t mean much if it is just something you wrote down in your business plan. It should inform every aspect of your business from branding and marketing to product selection and customer interactions. It should be a guidepost for you to measure your business decisions against no matter how big or small.

This is the fun part! Now that you’ve made it clear and have everyone on board, you get to share your purpose with your customers and the world. Integrate your purpose into your marketing messages and branding. Don’t be afraid to talk about your purpose and how it informs your business practices and customer interactions. Remember, people buy why you do what you do, so be sure to let them know.

3. Live by it— Renowned speaker and optimist Simon Sinek has famously stated “People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. And what you do simply proves what you believe.”

DIAM ND spotlight PLAN BY: BENITA TYLER

#powerpurposeplan

Lori Hoback is a wife, mom, and a leader with a heart of servitude for her family, community, employees, and her church.

So what is your story? “My story” begins with me having an opportunity to accomplish a major milestone in my career with Fiat Chrysler Automotive. Having worked there for twenty-one years in various capacities, I began to realize that there was a need to improve the training and development program for FCA’s over 9,000 employees. At the time, training required employees to either pursue in-house individual training or travel to our headquarters in Michigan for training lasting a week. I found the training to be insufficient and the traveling out of state to be unfair to most. I began crafting a plan that would lead to the development of a World Class Manufacturing Academy well into the future. My plan allowed me to have a seat at the table usually reserved for men. My plan was approved, and I received the financial backing required to implement it. I must say, it was a huge undertaking that stretched me. My team and I designed the program, hired the staff, and managing the construction site. During the first year of operation, 3,000 people went through the new training program, that also served members of the community and the youth. The plan yielded some incredible success, and in nine short months, we were able to pay back the 2.5 million dollars we borrowed to build the training facility.

What has been your inspiration growing up? “My inspiration” comes from my parents. Both were excellent servant leaders. My dad, for example, coached young boys in baseball for years and he never turned anyone away. My mother was a giver who served anyone who crossed her path. When she was laid to rest, there was an endless line of people waiting to pay their respect in her honor.

While going through difficult times, what helped you sparkle like a diamond? “Sparkling like a diamond” means finding your inner rock star! It took some time to find mine, however, once I started to pay attention to how I felt, I noticed it when I was at my best. I learned not to make assumptions about others or to try to gauge their willingness to help. It’s important to believe that people want what you want and are your allies. I started to see my influence with people and good things began happening.

What qualities are necessary for women to accomplish their (PLAN)? “My journey is about my relationship with God.” He has taught me that my journey is not about a plan, it’s about serving people. When the plan benefits others through servant leadership, you’ve got the right plan.

What advice would you give women to help them implement their (PLAN)? “Accomplishing your plan by always recognizing your strength.” Be strategic about where you place yourself and remain humble. Own what you bring to the table and always play your position. “Implement your plan” planning is like a recipe, it requires the right ingredients. Be led by your purpose! Remember your purpose may not always be included in your current plan, nor will you always be the person with the power. Always have several plans and plant seeds knowing that they will eventually materialize.

How can women benefit from the Power Brunch? “Anyone can benefit from the Power Brunch.” There is an overwhelming feeling of love when you enter the venue. Like-minded women are willing to share their power, purpose, and plan. I’m grateful we took our team last year, and after sharing a common experience in a positive environment, we’re benefiting as a team in the workplace. It was a win, win for our team and will be for you also.

Talking about your (PLAN). What has been your biggest accomplishment thus far? “My plan” was to develop a strategy that would improve our training and development.

How have you embraced your (PLAN)? “Embracing my plan” was just the start for me. I believe you must harness your purpose, the power in yourself, and of others to execute a successful plan. Building a team with people who have a shared purpose makes a difference. Without those things, all you have is an idea on a piece of paper.

CHANGE IS COMING

»» Upper management does not know how to execute a proper communication plan!

How many of us have checked our email at work only to find that you’ve received a message from upper management indicating that a change is going to take place within the organization, and you’re expected to implement that change today? What was your first thought? Was it – “Why am I just now finding out about this?” or did you say – “Do they know that this is going to make people freak-out?” If you did, you’re not alone.

CREATE THE MAP! »» Be prepared to express the vision or the critical details through email communication. »» Communicate the mission a month or more in advance. The email should include the valued outcomes as to why the change is coming and what conditions will be enhanced or improved because of it.

Any time a company desires to make a difference in its business processes, people often get nervous about how that change will impact them professionally and personally.

»» The communication should include what a successful transition will look like, what staff can expect to experience, what the top midpoint goals are that the team can identify along the way.

of employers implement change without a solid communication Most often, employees tense up, get anxious or worry plan for their employees. about whether or not their jobs are in jeopardy. Or, question how much more work will be dumped on them to manage. Particularly with the already overwhelming workload, they currently have.

HIRE GOOD DRIVERS! »» Developing political support, assessing change agent power, identifying key stakeholders, influencing stakeholders is a must have for implementing change. Typical change agents are trainers, managers, directors or piers that have a substantial impact on their co-workers. They are trusted, knowledgeable people who can promote the shift in a supportive way and move the people forward through the transition.

This type of anxiety can be avoided. If an employer takes the time to do this one thing, it can drastically make a positive impact during the transition. It’s called communication!

»» Change agents must be prepared to facilitate change in a positive and enthusiastic way.

THE FEAR OF CREATING CHAOS!

»» Be equipped to create readiness resource tools and a support network that evaluates progress and provides support for the resistance.

»» There is a belief that if you tell people what you’re doing, then you create anxiety…As if not telling people does any better. I call this type of management the dreamer!

»» Finally, the drivers must use the map! Manage the transition and activities without derailing from it.

»» When it’s potentially difficult news, no one wants to be the villain that initiates the information! »» Often people prolong the conversation and wait until the last minute to inform staff or management because they do not want to be the fall guy blamed for staff’s animosity. I call this the duck and dodge management!

Commitment to the structured plan is necessary to maintain the moral and support from staff. If staff are much more aware of what’s going on during a transition, they can help protect the day to day activities and diminish production from declining

ANSWER THE CALL #powerpurposeplan

BY: KALENA JAMES-Business Leadership Coach Thank you for answering the call!

entrepreneur, boss or manager, it’s about creating synergy and movement in the lives of others. It’s about helping people find their success on their terms at their pace.

Did you know we all lead, either by choice or default. Leadership is the ability to inspire and motivate yourself and others into taking positive action. Within any role in life, or in an organization or group, it helps to understand that each person is a leader, or at least, a leader in the making. By not only helping yourself to improve as a leader but also by assisting others to do the same, you create the environment of self-starters, each of whom can accomplish more than they thought possible.

Diamonds, continue to:

Great leaders think regarding WE, US, OUR instead of YOU, THEM, ME, MYSELF and I when creating a culture of success! While focusing less on what to say to get people to take action, leaders instead, focus on how they can “be” to embody a message that inspires others to accomplish a task, create a powerful team or join forces to complete a mission.

»»

Become an empowering message

»»

Step into your unique greatness

»»

Duplicate yourself in others

»»

Continue to fuel yourself to impact the change you want to see

LIVE YOUR POWER, YOUR PURPOSE, YOUR PLAN!

Diamonds IGNITED!! Leadership development is our most important resource. It is the engine that pulls the train. Why? Because it is leaders, who make things happen. It is leaders who have a vision, take the initiative, influence people, prepare proposals, organize logistics, solve problems, follow-up, and - most of all - take responsibility. This generation is looking for great leadership with life, career, relationship strategies that work, someone who will educate and inspire them beyond their circumstances, someone who can think outside the box to create vision and plans. You set the attitude, and they are taking their cue from you.

We all lead, either by choice or default. Leadership is the ability to inspire and motivate yourself and others into taking positive action.

So, for all the leaders out there…THANK YOU! Thank you for answering the call to step into greatness. You are the message, not just the messenger. You have dared to believe that leading people and yourself is more than just being a great mom, spouse, friend,
