Arrate Muñoz Barrutia Pamplona, Spain (1973) Development of imaging technologies to solve biomedical problems Telecommunications Engineer from the Public University of Navarra, Ph.D. in Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL). She has been a researcher at the Center for Technical Studies and Research (CEIT-IK4), and the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA) at the University of Navarra. Actually is a UC3M Professor and Researcher at the Gregorio Marañón Health Research Institute. As an expert in biomedical imaging, she led numerous open-source initiatives and competitions that build on cooperative community work to achieve significant advancement in the field. Its most recent milestone is the development of deepImageJ, a friendly environment forprocessing microscopy images, that was recently published in Nature Methods. Visiting researcher at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and Johns Hopkins University (JHU). In 2017, she obtained a Leonardo Scholarship from the BBVA Foundation and the Award of Excellence from the Social Council of UC3M in the category of Young Research Staff.
Beatriz García Osma Madrid, Spain (1977) Financial information and corporate governance studies She holds a PhD from Lancaster University. Professor in the business department of UC3M, Research Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute and visiting scholar at Stockholm School of Economics. Previously, she directed the Master in Accounting (MACAM) at UAM, where she was an associate professor. Improving the quality of financial reporting and of firm corporate governance structures is key to achieve a better, more righteous society and more transparent capital markets. For example, her research documents instances of gender discrimination in accessing top management positions, but also, that improving corporate governance paves the way towards greater gender equality. Her expert views have been requested by institutions such as the European Parliament and her studies have been presented to regulators such as the IASB, EFRAG, CNMV or ICAC.

Belén Ruiz Mézcua Caracas, Venezuela (1959) TICS and Artificial Intelligence for the inclusion of people with disabilities Doctor in physical sciences from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Carlos III University of Madrid. Technical director of the Spanish Center for Subtitling and Audio Description (CESyA), a center dependent on the Royal Board of Trustees on disability, which she has directed since its creation (2005) at the UC3M Science Park. He has held various positions in the management and direction of UC3M. She is also co-director of the HULAT (Human Languages and Accessibility Technologies) Research Group. His lines of research focus on Signal Processing, Biometrics, Accessibility, Speech Technologies and Modeling. As a result of this research, it has published more than 200 articles, participated in round tables and congresses, and transferred 11 patents, 14 software registrations and 6 trademark registrations.
María Salvador Bernáldez Madrid, Spain (1981) The importance of regulatory affairs in the companies In her effort to research, she studied Biology and gained her PhD at the Complutense University of Madrid. During more than 10 years, she focused on Haemathology and Immunology research. She conducted the most of her research experience at the National Center for Biotechnology (CSIC) searching for therapeutic targets of autoimmune diseases such as Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis. She took part in international projects as well as in numerous congresses and articles in scientific journals. After those thrilling years, she felt the need for a change, not away from Science. She studied a Master degree in Scientific Departments Management and finally made a career change. Currently, she is the Regulatory Affairs Manager at a Spanish growing company at worldwide level. She is constantly in contact with national and international regulatory bodies and she manages the global regulatory strategy of the company, helping to the products to comply with.
