product The product is Load Carrier for Labor. This is low-cost low-tech simple yet extremely useful Product design. This winning product was made at a minuscule cost of Rs. 300 and has potential to affect lives of millions of people across the globe. the design has two major parts, one that holds the load and the other that rests on the shoulder. The device has two knobs, which facilitates the change of required function manually from one to another in oneminute duration. This allows three modular functions for carrying lighter loads on the head, medium loads at the back and heavier loads to push or pull as a trolley. Ergonomically the load is distributed on the shoulder and at the lumbar support by softer material. The total weight of the device is 2 Kgs.


rationale On our trip to village, I noticed children and laborers at a construction site carrying vegetables on head, back and also there is not transport service to carry load and drop the load at construction site they have to carry the load on their head and back which causes headache and spine problems. These are the reasons that I thought of introducing load carrier to them. In this version of load carrying device , the weight is distributed over the shoulders and the upper back , substituting the traditional way of carrying bricks on the head. The hands rest in an ergonomically comfortable position on the supports provided.


tARGET AUDIENCE Load Carrier for Labor" project is an innovation to improve the working condition of laborers and workers at many places globally—construction sites, factories, ports, railway stations, etc. The objective is to prevent various occupational hazards and demonstrating Product design and ergonomic consideration in welfare of human life.
