QUEEN'S AVENUE DWELLINGS This project is set in 2050, where it is predicted that the world population will increase up to 9.3 billion. Due to the effects of climate change, for instance, desertification and sea level rise; experts predict this will result in 200 million eco-migrants by 2050. My proposal is to provide both permanent and short-term accommodation for climate refugees in a high-density population allowing sustainable lifestyle and provide comfort for human habitation in an urban area. These housing are designed to rebuild a new community and help establishing future development.

THE WATER'S EDGE The project’s intention is to create public spaces in which for the audience to experience by going through a ritual of cleansing, relaxing and enjoyment. It also allows visitors to interact with the water, being the cultural and social centre of the city. Having the dialogue between the edges; the visitors will experience transition from land to water, temperature from hot to cold, and vice versa. The main buildings are floating on water, surrounded by dock buildings and warehouses. The enclosed structure will contain saunas and baths, which are an important aspect of the winter bathing experience.

REFRACTION This project focuses on the idea of how light is being refracted in a space using crystal prisms, creating a rather spectacular spectrums of colour. This idea came about when I was in Rome, visiting Santa Maria di Aracoeli and mesmerised by how the church was hidden with treasures of light. I began to explore and play with light and shadow which can affect an atmosphere within spaces. This leads to achieving the right lighting for my wunderkammer which can turn something stationary as a building into a dynamic element.

TRANSCENDENTAL LAND[E]SCAPE The aim of this project is to create a `retreat', allowing visitors to momentarily escape from stressful city life, everyday conviction in exchange for calmness and tranquillity. The spaces within the building provide a therapeutic experience that engages each of the body's senses moving through a sequence of meaningful spaces, as it is the case with pilgrimage. The retreat will allow for spaces of seclusion, silence and meditation as well as spaces for more physical, social and interactive activities. The challenge will be for the architecture to evoke a delicate sense spirituality and awareness in its visitors and deliver a physical setting where meditation, relaxation and other activities that unite the body, mind and spirit can be conveyed.

“It is essential sometimes to go to retreat, to stop everything that you have been doing, to stop your beliefs and experiences completely, and look at them anew, not keep on repeating like machines whether you believe it or do not believe. You would then let in fresh air into your minds. – J. Krishnamurti
