Setting up a Go Kart the First Time Assembling a go kart for the first can be tricky especially if you are not prepared and you lack knowledge in setting it up. Most beginners prefer do-it-yourself go kart setting up but the problem for some racers is that they tend to do the nitty-gritty setup task a week before the racing season. So when this happens, it’s time to follow these easy steps and make sure that you have all the tools needed. Here are some of the tools that you will need:
Metric Hex Wrench Set
Ratchet Set
Needle Nose Pliers
Assorted Wrenches
Nuts, Bolts and Washers in different sizes
When it comes to go kart parts, here are what you will need:
Safety wire
Fuel line
Go kart grade chain
Throttle cable
Go kart seat
Cable ties
Chain guard
Motor mounts
Tachometer
Motor mounts
Go kart body kit
Fuel tank
Rear sprockets
The first thing to do in setting up your go kart is to start with mounting your seat. This will make a lot easier to setup and mount other components like engine. Mounting the seat is the hardest task of the entire installation. Thus most kart experts recommend that it will be done by
setting the kart up on the ground without rims such that the chassis rests on the ground. After assembling it that way, the next thing to do is to take a long flat piece or metal and place it under the chassis, exactly where the bottom of the seat rests and then clamp it down. Setup the seat to the angle that perfectly suits your racing preference. After the seat is successfully mounted, the next thing to do is to mount the engine. Before the actual mounting, be sure that you have your clutch and sprocket installed in the engine. When done, you can simply setup the engine and you are ready to go. Line the engine accurately and lightly tighten. The reason behind lightly tightening it is to give space to the chain where you will put it on. After installing the right sprocket on the axle, you can now place the chains. Make sure that it rides the clutch and axle sprockets perfectly. When all seems to be in their respective places, you can now make a permanent adjustment to the engine until the chain achieves its proper tightness. After the seat and the engine as well as the chains, sprockets and axles are setup, it is now time to assemble other finishing components like the fuel tank, tachometer, and fuel line. The fuel tank must fit tightly and safely at the bottom of the steering wheel. This is specifically should be located between your legs. Basically, the chassis already comes with a gas tank and a knob which are snugly attached in place to ensure safety and solidity. The ends of fuel line hose must be securely attached to the fuel tank and the other on the fuel intake of the engine. Attach these components tightly using safety wire or cable ties. And the last step is to connect your tachometer. Usually, the device comes with a manual and it is important to follow it.
