ABOUT THE PROJECT

LOCATION Paris, France BUILDING TYPE Apartment Complex STYLE Art Nouveau YEAR OF COMPLETION 1898 The Castel Beranger is a six-storey high tenement of thirty-six apartments . Inspiration- Victor Horta’s Hotel Tassel. An important transitional work in my career. //( Yes , It’s my first International success and I secured a Gold medal)

ELEVATION The elevation also shows that the building is completely ASYMMETRICAL I achieved this through different use of materials through out the facade and also note the placement which varies across the facade I used different SHAPES and SIZES of WINDOWS. The structure is embellished by materials like BRICK , STONE , IRON and CERAMICS.

PARIS METRO ENTRANCE //( My most wide spread Design )

So , I designed three types of entrances to metro stations with and without glass roof ranging from simple railings to lavish covered pavillions. - open - covered - and enclosed type. //( I din’t want to stop myself with a single design- # let’s Explore ) -The Structures are built in cast iron - the structures refere to the symbolis of plants and are consided as a classic example of french art nouveau. //( finally I set an example and I am well appreciated for my style ! ) over 141 entrances were constructed b/w 1899 and 1912 ( 86 still exist ). //(That’s Great but Sad that half of it was destroyed :( )v

ARTISTIC FEATURES The roof variety known as Edicules feature a fan shaped glass awning. //(That’s Quite Interesting Right???) Few feature an enclosure of opaque paneling decorated in floral motifs. Beyond this concerns , cast iron was also far better suited the naturalistic and slender curves that embody art nouveau. //(Trust me !...Iron is what u all need for mimicking Nature’s Curves) Each station entrance - same green paint - resemble bronze patina ( rust ) - and a sign - METROPOLITAIN - typeface designed by myself. //( Yes !... I can design Fonts too....LOL) most common variant - set of railings -pair of amber colored light bulbs - flower shaped buds. The gate’s curvilinear lines and patterns were inspired by wines and flowers. //( The Nature of the Flowers are really great...It inspired me a lot o_0 ) The tinted lights illuminates the metropolitan sign mounted. 22 PAGE | 22

/ / ( VIE W OF HOTE L G UIMAR D AT TH E F RO NT )

This building was built as house for my wife and myself. //( Yeah , I finally decided to design myself a new home with my own style) It was not just a house for us , but it is also a studio and a place to practice both our arts. //( It was really a wonderful home where I could notice my works at every corner) We lived there from 1913-1930. //( My old office was Shifted here , later we shifted to USA) The load bearing walls are limited to the external walls..this gave me chance to create a real free plan on each floor.. //( Yep , That’s the Idea ) On the first floor and ovoid-shaped dining room ..that imposes unique furniture deduced from shape of the walls. The staircase being considered cumbersome , I chose to serve the floors by a lift covered with mirrors ...unfortunately it is now disappeared.
