Dwell Below
The site is carved using various methodologies to get the enough sunlight into the underground space, and a linear park is connecting the north and south on the ground level for sake of the convenience of the pedestrians. In order to solve the social problems of a lack of residential space, the housing units are staggered from undgerground level to the upper level above the ground, and public programs are mostly located underground so that this sunken space can be activated by passers-by and visitors and well harmonized with the underground housing programs. By proposing the potential of living underground, this project can make a first step of the new lifestyles and culture of citizens in the future. Housing Unit Above Ground To assist in solving the lack of housing units problem in the urban area, some units are stacked toward the sky, keeping the design idea.
Rooftop Walkloop with Greenery Consisting of the roof structure from the housing units underground, the linear park with ample greenery can provide a pleasant space to the citizens for leisure, and at the same time give them the shortcut path from the north to the south.
Staggered Housing Underground The housing units underground are arranged in a linear order to maximize the sunlight they can get. Also, the units are stacked obliquely in a vertical direction to minimize blocking the sunlight toward the lowest level.
Carved Ground with Public Space Considering both maximizing the amount of the sunlight and the area of usable space underground, the ground is carved in a slope. most space underground is occupied by public and commercial programs which does not need a lot of sunlight.
