MEMETIC WELLS

INTRO This project is a combination of group work, a live build project and also individual design outcomes. We, as a team, and with other students, fabricate and assemblle a large installation for Folkestone Book Festival, and also a design of our own material elements wich can contribute to the succesful programming of the installation.
CONCEPT Memetics is the theory of mental content based on an analogy with Darwinian evolution, originating from the popularization of Richard Dawkins’ 1976 book The Selfish Gene. Proponents describe memetics as an approach to evolutionary models of cultural information transfer. We used the narrative in a cultural object, a book from H.G. Wells, The Time Machine, to generate, prototype and manufacture the designed outcomes.

M AT E R I A L The materialiy of the installation is intended to reflect the aesthetic of HG Wells stories which engages with Victoriana and industrial and often ornate metal finishes. A style developed from the sci-fi tales and novels of H.G.Wells and his contemporaries called STEAMPUNK. The aim and intention of the installation is to present the essence of thi s aesthetic as it is so quintessentially Wellsian, but in a pared back more minimal sense, using simple copper pipping in a 3-d cross module. This module can be used to design each programmatic part of the installation.

INDIVIDUAL PROJECT
This project consists of the realization of a personal project to complete the group installation. The concept of this follows the same premises as the general project, based on the idea of growth in all directions, as well as research on the behavior of different materials. The concept comes from the ide of create a 3D pattern representing H.G Wells issues like memetic, cultural patterns and others relations with the science about repetition and rythem.

Vedat cultural is a place or resource where the dynamics that take place in the street find a niche to channel and develop in positive directions for participants, regardless of age or condition. And what can be moved from outside to inside a CSC? For all that contributes to this beneficial development of the citizens, individually and socially: artistic creation, relationship with others, formation, political participation, etc. their fluid relationship with the environment, with a view to integrating in it (and not being a place Empty and useless) and their vocation to contribute to the development of the individuals and the community that surrounds them.

CONCEPT Dansk cafe, is a space that is different, unique, but still comfortable and warm. For this purpose, I try emphasizes the point of change in the cafe design, using furniture made from natural materials, ie solid pine wood, that gives a touch of natural tone to the whole interior of the cafe. The hopes to make the cafe as a meeting place of fun for colleagues, and friends. This cafe offers convenience for the visitors. Although simple, but has the elegance of a very real value, and affordable. Smart, and that’s inexpensive cafe features drawn from this design. Dansk cafe does look like it has not finished, but still interesting, and wonderful. Most modern cafes, usually looks classy, that makes people reluctant to come. While the Danish cafe offers something ‘homy’, a clever way to reach your target market more
