Whitefly Control
Integrated Pest Management of Whiteflies
1. Carefully inspect new plants before transplanting. 2. Dip foliage and root ball in soapy water, or hydrogen peroxide solution, to clean and kill any existing whitefly eggs, nymphs or adults. 3. Monitor pest thresholds with yellow sticky traps or ribbons. 4. Release Green Lacewings preventatively before infestation becomes severe. 5. Consider specialist parasites and predators for targeted whitefly infestations. 6. For quick knockdown control, consider sprays with a low environmental impact such as Beauveria bassiana products (see page 26) or Neem based sprays. 7. Clean tools and equipment as well as greenhouse structures between growing seasons. See Cleaning & Sanitizing on page 50.
