Divya Melaluca
Divya Melaluca, born in Canberra, Australia, was raised in a very creative family with an upbringing full of hiking and other ventures that gave her a vast appreciation for nature. Always having an innate, mystical spirit and interest in the hidden and esoteric, it was in painting that she realized she could give life to her visions and become a storyteller. The beginning of this journey started for Melaluca at Odd Nedrum’s studio and farm in 2017. Working with Odd Nedrum over six impactful months helped Melaluca hone her craft. This time in Norway also lead to the next chapter of her painting career. There she met the painter Alex Venezia who became her mentor over the next few years in North Carolina where they worked alongside a community of artists known as East Oaks Studios.
Divya’s goal is to create a timeless narrative while maintaining a high level of technical skill through diligent practice and time in studio.
“In painting there’s two sides, on one hand to be the painter I want to be the storyteller, I must experience life, swim in the ocean, smell the roses, collect ideas, searching, feeding myself with new things to return to the easel. On the other hand, I must always remain focused, investigative to the process and absolutely striving to become better.”
