MAGGIE & ROSALIND BUNN
Originally from South Louisiana, Rosalind Bunn is a veteran elementary school teacher. While she has dreamed of owning a bookstore, as the author of ten children’s books she is well on her way to filling the shelves with her own tales! Rosalind lives in Marietta, Georgia, with her family and a pet tarantula. This is her sixth collaboration with her daughter, Maggie Bunn.
Maggie Bunn now lives in Marietta, Georgia, but as a child, she joined her mother, Rosalind, on visits to many of the locations featured in this book. She loves reading, fishing, exploring, and sneaking lessons into her stories.
Keller Pyle’s colorful illustrations fill the pages of many books. With a passion for art, he earned a BFA in illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design. Pyle lives in Cartersville, Georgia, with his dogs, Hank and Rusty, and his collections of books, dinosaur toys, and tin robots. Contact Info

1. How did collaborating together on children’s books start?
It started by accident. As a mom, I was reminiscing and looking through keepsakes and was reminded of Maggie’s creativity and writing voice. I had an idea that I’d been thinking of for a while and asked Maggie if she would like to work on the story together. Luckily, she said yes and Once Upon A…Zoo was created---our first picture book together.
2.Why did you choose to use a train in your latest series?
We were amazed at how many train enthusiasts there are and decided this would be a great way to showcase all the wonderful places in the states we have written about.
3.How does your process work when beginning a new picture book?
We outline the story together. With the All Aboard series, we research the different cultural and geographic regions of the state we are currently working on and divide the “regions”. After we have written our sections, we come together and revise and edit before submission to the publisher. Lots of emphasis on revision and editing…
4.Once the book is a reality, what do you enjoy the most?
Once the title is “in our hands”, we enjoy meeting and greeting readers at bookstores and gift shops and sharing our stories.
5.Are people surprised to learn that you are a mother/daughter team?
Yes! Often, new readers are surprised to learn that we are a mother/daughter team. They often ask if we argue a lot during the process and many wish that they could experience this kind of partnership.
6.When not working on a new story or promoting your titles, what are some things you like to do together?
We enjoy travel…especially to the places we write about in our titles. We love to join a local ghost/history tour and try the local fare.
7.What is the best advice you have received during your writing journey? Don’t give up!! Be ready to accept feedback to improve your writing and work hard to produce quality children’s picture books.
8.Do you have a favorite children’s book?
Maggie loved Where the Wild Things Are as a child. Rosalind enjoyed the Nancy Drew series.
9.What is your favorite place to visit in the latest in the series, All Aboard, Tennessee!? We especially enjoyed visiting Cades Cove and experiencing the wonderful animals that you may see when you visit.
10.Do you do anything to celebrate when the final edits have been sent?
We enjoy a great dinner and start thinking about, “what’s next?”.
