required to transform our conceptual ideas using 3d modeling tools. Learning how to actually use Rhino, needed a lot of practice and multiple trials and errors in order to be able to use the tool in a way that would serve the concept and final output. Moving from Rhino to a more parametric modeling tool like Grasshopper was intresting because of how different to the two tools are and yet how well they compliment eachother while actually working on the project. The following portrays the journey taken as well as my progress through each of the projects until accomplishing my final design. I am student majoring in Architecture Engineering and minoring in Anthropolgy. This course has taught me many things in ashort time span. Getting inspired by nature to and biomimicry to come up with architectural concepts that were later transformed into a project. The ability to physically Experiment with different materials in order to understand material behavior upon subjecting them to different conditions. This was a new experience especially using the results and observatons as guidelines to inform and drive design solutions in a computational way. During the course, I faced a lot of challenges whether in the conceptual phase or later on when we were

The choice of the natural inspiration was the Snail. Through extensive research on behaviour, characteristics, geometry, etc. Some guidelines and observations were concluded.

Natural Inspiration Turned into design proposal for homeless shelter based on observed and reseached phenomena from previous phase.

The conceptual phase then matured into a design proposal that takes from the conceptual guidelines created through reseach and observation. The Project tries to incorporate elements of group behaviour and the play between the static and the dynamic that was inspired by the snail behaviour. Respond to environmental issues for solar exposure. The project strived to move away from the formal geometric shape

Snails that get caught in fishermen’s nets get damaged, tossed back, separated, etc. Despite the circumstances snails are very adaptive creatures that can survive many situations. Minya is the capital of Minya Governorate in Upper Egypt. It is located 245km south of Cairo on the Western bank of the Nile River

Similarly this is how homeless people are regarded in the community; their adaptability and ingenuity is not capitalized on. Tentacles Optic tentacles
