Herecommended"vowofslavery"tothevirgin. Congregationsofher"slaves"alreadyexistedin Spain-someoftheirmemberswearingsmallchains tosymbolisetheirservitude:butthisnoveltyand thevowitselfwereeventuallybannedbytheHoly Office,thoughthedevotionwaspermitted.
