Ithadbeenhopedthat withtheclosureofBindoon enrolmentscouldbechanneledtoTardum,wherethe

ChristianBrothersconduct anotheragriculturalschool.

ButTardunhasproved morepopularwithfamilies inthenorthoftheState andfailedtoattractstrong supportfromsouthern areas.

BrotherBowlersaidthat asurveyofintendingYear 8applicantsfor1978had showntheirfirstpreference forBindooneventhough theyhadbeenabletohe placedelsewhere.

BrotherBowlersaidthat therehadbeenthemassive expressionofpublicopinion infavourofkeepingKeaney Collegeopen.

Heproducedaninchthickfolderofletters,includingsubmissionsfrom ArchbishopGoody,Sir DavidBrandandmany South-Westclergy,asking forthecollegeto

nobodycanfailtobestruck bytheunanimousreaction.
