Speakingataspecial FestivalMassinSaint Mary'sCathedralattended bytheGovernor,SirWallaceKyle,Archbishop Goodysaidthatthemaintenanceofevenaverage snoralandartisticstandards wasaresponsibilitythat weighedheavilyonmany people,

MrTonyFlliott,chairmanoftheSACommission forCatholicSchools,issued thiswarningafterstudying trendsthatseemtohe emergingfromtheRoyal CommissionintotheNonMedicalUseofDrugsin SA. TheRoyalCommission hasnowpublishedfour discussionpapers-The SocialControlofDrug Use,Education,Cannabis andSomeResponses.

MrElliottsaidthatit wasclearfromthesepapers thatthedriftofthecommission'sthinkingwastowardsrecommendingthat thepresentcriminallaw dealingwithcannabisbe altered.

Hesaidthatsomepassagesinthecommission's reportshouldcausegrave concerntoeducatorsin Catholicschools.
