He,whocametoannouncelifeandtooffer lifemoreabundantly,hasrealisedthathemust facetheuncertaintyofdeath.

Evenintheworldoflightthathepreached andlived,darknesscanstillbefound.

Jesuswantedagreatdealoutofhislife,but anewtruthbegantoemerge:Onlyifhewould claimuncertaintyashisown,onlyifhewould allowdarknesstobreakhim,onlythencouldhe experiencethefullnessoflife,thefullnessofsurprise.OnlythencouldtheSpiritofhisFatherfill andtransformalldarkness.

AndsoJesusacceptedtheuncertainty,walked ahead,struggledwiththepowerofdarknessthat wouldrequirehismostpreciousgift,hislife.In timetheuncertaintygavewaytomockery,whips andnails.Buttheexteriorpainsweresmallcomparedtotheinteriorwrestlingwiththeinnerdarkness.

Jesustrusted

Thethoughtsthatranthroughhismindmust havebeen,"AmIreallyalone?Father,whereare younow?WhataboutallthatIhavesaid,all thatIhavepromised?"

Andheuttered,"Father,intoyourhandsIcommendmySpirit."UptohislastbreathJesus trusted,andthenhedied.

Histhree-yearjourneywasover.Hehadtaught thepeopleashisFatherhadsenthimtodo.His promiseshadbeenmade.Andforthreelongdays everyoutwardappearanceindicatedthattheworld ofuncertaintyanddarknesswasdominantover life.

Thenonthethirddayanewdawncame.The greatestpromiseevermadewasfulfilled.Jesus rosefromthedead,triumphantoverdeathand darkness.
