Bsc1 Atelier Mario Botta-Canevascini
the theme of the year was to approach the Blenio valley, located in the Lepontine Alps in Ticino (CH), through the recovery of a chocolate factory in the village of Torre. In the fall semester we studied the character of the interior spaces of the factory and after that we worked on small interventions for th e transformation of these spaces in studios for artists, restaurants and spaces for temporary exhibitions. During the second semster we worked on the outdoor spaces near the factory in order to create a new village dedicated to the arts, in particular aimed at planning and producing theatrical works.

Atelier per un artigiano
live two distinct realities through a path that unites them. This is the basis of my idea. A compartment that outlines 4 different environments, each of them introductory to the next. From the exhibition area we move to a finishing workshop, then you access the design and development laboratory and then you reach a totally private and inaccessible space if not to the single craftsman, a place to rest and gather new energies, an intimate space from which to draw ideas for new project

Sala Prove
The object of study addressed during the second semester was the design of a rehearsal space with adjoining housing complex linked to the theater, directly compared to the context of the CimaNorma factory faced in the first semester. The project consists in creating environments where a group of theaters can carry out tests and prepare shows in a secluded place surrounded by nature. In dealing with the design process, examples of theatrical spaces and test rooms were analyzed and studied (targeted visits to theaters and test rooms -> LAC of Lugano ...) in order to satisfy the users that would live the project.

Bsc2 Atelier Bearth Dealing with the Mediterranean The theme of the first semester project was focused on the approach and analysis of a particular context such as that of the island of Capri. After studying the culture, history and flora of the island, a housing project was proposed, dedicated to groups of people who could live and work for a certain period of time on the island. The theme of the second semester shifts the attention on the city of Siracusa and on the proposal of the redevelopment of the Porto Antico of the city through the proposal of the creation of Housing buildings. As a first approach, during the trip to Sicily, it was proposed the study and observation of the architectural and artistic culture of the different stylistic influences present in the Sicilian island. The students then had to elaborate an idea of Masterplan from which to start planning the entire area of the Porto Antico

Corallo Nero Corallo Nero was born as an idea to create a new diving center for the island of Capri. The project location is itself linked to the two most beautiful and popular dive sites on the island: Punta Carena and Il Traliccio. The site of the Punta Carena lighthouse allows an easy landing of the boats inside an inlet where there are already baths and restaurants. The site presents two different territorial situations; a pine forest that leads to a limestone rock area, which determines a progressive change in altitude. The project proposal starts from settling in the pinewood, exploiting nature as a shelter from the sun. In this space a compact volume is created that houses the individual chambers inside. Each room has two distinctive environments: a covered loggia and a bedroom. Going up the rock you are exposed towards the sea; this particular territorial condition has allowed the development of a building with a central plan that overlooks the coast and allows a 360 ° view of the entire project site. Coming from the pine wood, the common center-diving space can be summarized in a single concrete block in which all the required functions are summarized. Around a central core are disposed the spaces used for common activities such as the reception, the classroom for the theoretical lessons, the kitchen and the living room. The furniture that characterize the spaces are designed to adapt to the structure of the building that has as its concept scheme the concept of a large umbrella, also designed to repair from the sun. The entire volume is characterized by the possibility of having views of the context entirely at 360 ° thanks also to the use of a system of sliding windows that are packed close to the walls of the central core. By packing all the windows it is possible to allow entry into the building of the wind coming from the sea.

Housing Project in Siracusa
As part of the redevelopment of the Ancient Port of the city of Syracuse, 4 interventions have been proposed, one of which on the site of the ARSENALE GRECO, archaeological site of the Syracusan city. The intention of the project was to create a new “theatrical backdrop for the port through the construction of 2 long buildings. The structure of the intervention is that of two compact volumes that create two different links with the urban component and the port of the city going to establish itself as a diaphragm between them. However, this attitude is mediated by the building itself, which proposes a long portico in favor of the urban side of the intervention, while demonstrating a great generosity as regards the recovery of the port dock.
Atelier Blumer The theme addressed during the first semester proposed the study of the propagation of light through wavy surfaces. The study of the phenomenon led to the development of instruments called “fans”, through which it was possible to create plays of light simply using folded drawing paper according to a previously developed project. The theme of the second semester instead proposed the analysis of the skeleton of an “ichthyosaur”. This analysis was proposed to research, by modifying an efficient structure, the design of complex shapes starting from the individual bone elements of a skeleton. Finally, the individual bones have been assembled, recreating, as a whole, the entire bone structure of the ichthyosaur.

Atelier Ruf
The theme addressed during the entire year was the study of the forms of the human body through the analysis and design of tables of human anatomy. The study started from the analysis of the methods of study and redesign of the shadows through geometric shapes. This study was then used as a basis for the analysis and design of anatomy tables. Through the drawing the details of the human body were explored, starting from the bone structure reaching the individual muscle fibers.

Rappresentazione Digitale The theme addressed during the first and second year was the complete analysis of a lighthouse assigned by the teaching staff. The case I dealt with was a lighthouse on the New Zealand coast. The analysis started from the search for references, information and drawings that could reconstruct the entire image of the lighthouse in question. The next step was 3D reconstruction using axonometries and construction details. Everything was then used to create storyboards composed of images and suggestions. The last elaboration consisted in creating a context (real or fictitious) in which to insert the lighthouse and make it the protagonist of a story.

SISTEMI E PROCESSI DELLA COSTRUZIONE
The course proposes, through the assignment of case studies, the analysis of components and construction systems used or under development in the modern building sector. In groups of two the students face the analysis of a particular of an assigned building. In this case the case study assigned was CASA MOLLINO to AGRA, while the analysis of the building focused on the study of the wooden elements of the roof structure with the analytical redesign of some details and the construction of an axonometric model aimed at representing the analysis carried out through an elaborate 3d

Building site Experience During my experience on the building site I have dealt with several restorations of historic buildings: while i was working in the family business (Restructuring and decoration ROSSINI DECOR) I understood the function of the construction phases , the restoration of historic ambients, the installation of false ceilings and plasterboard, the recovery of frescoes and decorations. In the images we can see the construction phases during the renovation and recovery of frescoes, external decorations and cleaning of the bricks of the facade, by sandblasting, of a historic building in the center of Cremona (Palazzo Pietro Vacchelli).
