EL GALEON Location / el portal, miami, florida Function / single family home Project 2020 Collaborative effort for the restoration of a 1920’s single family home. The objective of reconfiguring the existing layout while creating an open concept provided the opportunity to achieve a clean modern design with minimal demolition of the existing walls by respecting the existing load bearing walls and partitions.

PROPOSE LAY-OUT

EXISTING LAY-OUT For the second level, the client’s similar vision of maximizing space and utilizing an open floor concept required a relocation of the stair case, creating a merging of two distinct spaces.

GREEN NURTURE location /jupiter, florida function / multi-generational housing project 2019

Thesis project consisting of multi-generational housing within a larger scope of a newly envisioned master plan, including a school of neural science and additional student housing. The primary goal was to foster a fluid relationship between the city of Abacoa with the University campus.

Site Analysis There is a visual and physical disconnect between the city of Abacoa and north side of the campus

Bedroom Unit= 150sqft Living Unit= 150sqft

Concept sketches

Viewing architecture as a Bio-Science mechanism, to create a system that allows for the integration of nature into architecture, Creating a set of dynamic conditions that mimic bio-sciences, combining nature and technology to nurture mental, social, and physical health for users.

Modular system developed primarily considering square footage, lighting conditions, human proportion, and views.

The system is allowed to expand, respecting the site boundaries and height limitations. It reacts to vertical circulation, in an attempt to develop a similar language to the context.

04 multi-generational housing

Desired modular arrangement

The placement of the commercial space is crucial to develop a stronger connection to Abacoa. Commercial space includes, retail, cafe, co-work space, and offices.

The system slides towards the center of the campus to make way for the design’s core. units for the elderly are created.

Physical model study

Spaces created with this modular organization posses the ability to transform over time, as native nature reaches maturity. In addition, different seasons will also alter the way the occupants experience the space year round. These type of dynamic spaces play an important role nurturing mental, physical and social health. As the youth and the elderly move around the facilities, their senses are constantly engaging light patterns, smells, and textures provided by the combination of nature and technology.

The center space creates the wellness center, which includes management, a gym, cafe, and clinic. It is crucial to the design, since it brings the elderly and younger community together. It represents the projects main essence, to nurture physical, mental, and social health.

Rocking c air furniture design project 2019 The main objective of the exercise is to choose a conventional object and redefine it, by making it more specific to the user. Choosing a stool, the user specified becomes a guitar player, and creating a symbiosis between the guitar player and the chair to accommodate posture and function. Those parameters evolved into a stool for both the user and object.
