MIXED USE

BENIDORM TERMINAL BUS STATION 2005-2007

Benidorm, Alicante Spain Client: Ortiz e Hijos + Benidorm Municipality

The Benidorm Terminal and bus station is a 27000 m2 project that is composed of a bus terminal, shopping centre, hotel and roof pool. Due to the hight difference between both extremes of the site we can allocate vehicle movement underneath a public square avoiding the interruption of pedestrian circulation which happens on a higher level. Pedestrian circulation is designed so that the users have to go through the shopping centre before reaching the bus terminal. From the public square one can access the hotel, composed of 145 rooms, restaurant, spa and a swimming pool. The highly intricate mix of programme is linked through the structure and hight modulation. The project also comprises the design of the surroundings which amounts to a total of 60000 m2 providing green areas and public s p a c e s .

EDUCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL #6 2009-2010

Lorca, Murcia Spain Client: Regional Government of Murcia, Lorca Town Hall

The scheme is divided into two buildings located on the edges of the site determining an open area in the middle which can be used for sports and recess time. The classroom building interacts with the mountain behind it, allocating all circulation zones, facing the landscape. The technical design of the facade and the use of louvers tries to give response to the west orientation of the building, thus creating a double skin that protects it from solar gains. The program arrangement as well as circulation is designed to allow the security and accessibility of both students and teachers. The shared spaces such as library, cafeteria, auditorium and offices are located to the south of the compound, near the main access. Located on the edge of the site we can also find the sport facilities building , presenting a steel structure, which includes a multipurpose court and bleachers area. Light enters the building through openings in between the t r u s s e s .

RESIDENTIAL

ROW HOUSES WITH PATIO 2010-2011

Cocentaina, Alicante Spain Client: Innovaciudad S.L.

The houses with patio run along the main street, with independent access to the dwelling through front patios. This house typology allows to gain back the life-style typical of small villages, with a strong connection to the street allowing nearness as well as privacy. The dwellings are composed of four floors: garage on the basement, ground floor with daytime areas and a bedroom, first floor with bedrooms and bathrooms and roof terrace with a solarium and barbaque zone. All areas are designed around an interior patio, common in the Mediterranean architecture. From all terraces you can see the medival castle on San Cristobal Peek, one of the main constructions of the town.

RETAIL

AUDI’S SHOWROOM 1998

San Juan, Alicante Spain Client: VAESA and Sala Hermanos S.L. In collaboration with Schmidhuber & Partner Architekten

The project translates the image of the brand portraying a highly technological space and emphasizing the quality of the product in its architecture. This project, with a high technical and structural resolution, is the first Audi showroom in Spain as well as one of the first six in the world. The project is composed of a semi-basement level which offers car repairment facilities, an area on the ground floor for car exhibition as well as reception and selling point and an office and administration area on the upper floor, located also within the same main volume. The materials chosen, glass and aluminium, and the structural approach of the design show the dynamic and innovative character of the brand Audi.
