‘About me’ I am a 22 years old International student from Malaysia who’s passionate about playing with software. Grades are not what I am chasing for but the journey of exploring is what I am enjoying during my lifetime as a student. I am a self-taught person that loves to explore any kind of software that not only for architecture purposes but social media as well. Exploring and experimenting is my humanity and this will always be my spirit in my architecture journey.

The design start with applying the block facing to the tourist attraction as a welcoming zone to the public to enter the building.
With the stairs exist facing to the South, it can be used as a sitting area to enjoy the view and sunbath. Therefore, the top of the block is then expand to create enough shelter to the ground. 4

Based on the site analysis, the wind is moving toward North direction, therefore, a void is then created for achieving natural ventilation called cross ventilation.
By having lots amount of daylight illuminating to the site, the roof of the building will be applied photovoltaic system to collect energy for building purpose. 2020 Portfolio Kuok Fung Ling

The design concept for this proposed project is focused on responsive nature to climate change, which will be introduced with natural material as the climate reponse strategy. The program for this pro-

The idea is to have accessibility between each direction from the site. Therefore, four separated blocks have been created in order to form different paths.
The level of highness has been created to respond to the sloppiness of the site

Accessibility towards the roof garden was then formed by having outdoor stairs.
The roof was then folded in an origami method as the form of the building is to represent the rock to match with the subject.

DESIGN STRATEGY
The community bike shop aims to provide an affordable transportation to the local people without age limitation. The design strategy is to decrease the car traffic by increasing the bike commuter population. The
1
site has been chosen is the space in monument place in Fabric District area as it is observed that the space
2
is bike friendliness. Therefore, having a bike shop will 3
be a huge benefit for those cyclist by having the opportunity to have their bikes repaired in nearby place. Besides, as a community shop, it does provide edu-
4
cational workshop for people to get ten week classes learning how to refurbish bicycles. Overall, the design is not only for cyclists but also a community as a whole. 5
It will bring awareness to the presence of cycling in today’s society. It will also bring together people of all ages and backgrounds whether they are from Fabrict
2
District or just passing through.

DESIGN STRATEGY
Based on the group strategy, we as a group decided to improve the non-active area in order to make the whole Fabric A
District being activated. Based on the group site analysis, it is observed that the circulation of the pedestrian is the lowest in the Constance Street and therefore it became our area to focus
A
on. Therefore, the aim is to provide a high quality development in the neglected area of Constance Street. As the design con-
B
cept is to bring people together gathering and play on the site, we as a group decided to create a large opening space with a

space will be the most attraction point to get people to visit the site.
For the individual design, the focus area is the same as the

group project but the size of the area has been reduced to a small carpark located in the middle of the site. As based on my personal site analysis, it is found that the amount of the parking area is not enough for the users around the site, so they have to park beside the road which cause an issue of having a narrow space on the road. Therefore, the design intention is to create a combination of the carpark and public area not only to solve the less amount of parking space but also to improve the circulation around the site and therefore the concept is to mix both elements into one element with a theme called ‘Park & Play’.
3. In order to attract people to come, it is not enough without few activities being organised and the most efficient way for having people to visit the site is to have a market place. Therefore, ground floor will be used for the market area which sell gardening stuff in order to respond to the building design.
KEY MATERIALS 1. Steel will be used for the building structure not only because of its strength. As consider about the amount of the structure required, the price for the total amount has been considered. As steel has been overproduced in China and therefore the price has been dropped so it will be suitable for the building structures. 2. Corten steel will be used for the frame in order to response to the site building materials by using of its rusty brown colour to respond to the red brown brick.
3. The staircase will be make from timber in order to use the sound of the foot step to immitate the sound of the footbridge in the forest park.

9
Every design required a story to represent the characteristic of itself. As the craft for the project is paper and therefore the story for my design is to represent the characteristics of the paper by using the dimension of the paper for the building’s form. The frames on the skin of the building are all based on the dimension of an A1 paper. Besides, the form of the building itself is to represent the form of a cracking paper.

DESIGN STRATEGY
In this project, we focus on three aspect to improve the quality of life of the local people, community, modular house and sustainability. The main structural material of house was timber , which is cheap, vernacular and easy to assemble to build. Residents can assemble their own houses with our guidance, to create a new urban space and neighbourhoods for the local people. Besides, we also left ample space for each house to expand and co-create. Which can help residents able to change the function of the room according to their own needs.

DESIGN STRATEGY Through cosistent negligance the area has been run down and is in need for a means of social regeneration. Our initial observations we noticed a clear lack of communual function space within the area.
Initially our aim was to preserve the existing building with the theme of the adaptive reuse. It will used as a cafe’ and ticket office.
We wanted to implement a multifunctional urban plaza with the main function of an auditorium.
This structure has been designed to be versatile as it can suit a range of environments, elements are able to be broken and switched around.
A sheltered space with seating and views overlooking the canal. This structure creates a boundary between the main road and the function space.
A combination of two diverse temporary structures, able to accommodate a host of different events.
We understand the constaints and our goal was to produce a realistic project with achievable outcomes.
Acknowledging the current social and economic conditions of the area, our project aims to reuse an existing building and implement simple structures, to create a space able to vary in form and function. We believe this will attract a range of people back to the area.
The variable aspects of this design will include a sheltered seating area viewing the canal, cafe’ and bar space utilising the existing building. A rigid structure above the cafe’, able to have components rearranged in order to suit the specific function for that day. We aim to create an ambiguous, soft edged structure that can blur the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces.
