Draw! Draw! Draw

The first project was a fun one. We were asked to study designated buildings and I was lucky enough to study Frank Lloyd Wright’s Jacobs Second Home.

“I believe in God, only I spell it nature.”

- Frank Lloyd Wright’s -.

The building was designed as a semi circular building with a double storey glass curtain facing the South sun, turning its back from the cold Northern Winds. The way the overhanging roof works can be illustrated in the darwaing on page 4. The back portion is protected underneath a thick layer of earth which regulates the temperature of the building (shown in page 5). The excellent thermal mass of earth works effectively to reduce the energy consumption of the building.

The importance of drawings cannot be understated. Drawing is just thinking but on a piece of paper.
