PROJECT 03 ABODE
Play of Light & Shadows
Final Design • Concluded from the syntax analysis, the existing design has rigid wall boundaries, no sense of romance and poetics, less interaction spaces and less seating and storage spaces. • So the ldea is to achieve Sensuality, Romance, Poetics by designing an"inbetween" space in which interior and exterior are blended witheach other. Fascinating round arches are used in different sizes, repetition, rhythm and harmony in order to achieve poetics.
Idea Collage
• More seating and storage spaces are to be introduced with moreeased accessibilty. Momina Chaudhary || FA18-BAR-019 || 3rd Year || Portfolio || DAAD, Lahore

HEAT ANALYSIS ON SITE
HEAT ANALYSIS
The yearly heat and wind analysis of Nottingham shows that its potentially best for outdoor open cafe’s because the temperature stays below 26 degree calsius for most part of the year, and the natural wind could be used for air circulation in the space.
SUN PATH The hourly heat analysis of Nottingham throughout the year, shows that the summers are short and comfortable and the winters are long. So a person needs mode sun in outdoor spaces.
Summers comes for only 3 months in Nottingham and it’s a partially cold region.
WIND PATH
The wind path analysis shows that the wind mostly comes from south to west. And the region is mostly windy, so open outdoor spaces could use the wind path for natural air circulation.
The yearly temperature report shows that the temp. in Nottingham rearly goes beyond 26 Degree Calsius, only in the month of july for a few hours. So, the outdoor spaces won’t get much heat inside.

OF CAVES
NARRATIVE:
PROGRAMS DISTRIBUTION
Bringing back the history of Nottingham, the “Natural Habitat” is a cave cafe that is inspired from the early architectural heritage of the city. There were around 544 caves built and naturally built, and used as shelters or storage, in wars. The design of the cafe is divided into two major portions; The vault (closed) and open area.

Open Area provides filtered sunlight and natural air circulation in the cafe. Entrance
The design is generated by creating a point cloud and using cacoon to create a cave-like mesh structure, then the spaces are further modified in Rhino.

PROJECT IMAGE
DIAGRAM
Platforms Stairs
People from all over the world come to visit Skardu due to its desert and most importantly the atmosphere of this place. I want to design a Mosque where the sky (clouds) becomes themain part of the story-telling i.e. the experience and the journeyof a person inside the mosque.
The main elements of the design are the Platforms and the Stairs. The staircases connect all the 8 platforms together and create a soul awakening journey (pathway) that connects the users to the sky. The platforms have a certain height and location that allows the user to embrace the sky and desert landscape from all sides.
