Street smart
From classic to military, the jacket has proven to be the ubiquitous item this season. We show you how the stylish set pulls it off on the streets.
style Marcus Borg Swedish student, Amsterdam The Swedes have a way with their clothes. This shrunken and slightly cropped jacket is perfect for this season. The epaulets add a military flair without looking contrived. The black jacket goes well with the slate grey pants and the subtle white in the ensemble.
Thomas Altendorf Events and marketing manager, Berlin Being tall and lean can be a liability if you don’t dress right. Note how he has kept his neckline high to conceal his thin frame. The exacting length of his navy Dries Van Noten jacket keeps his proportion perfect, almost to an art form. And those exquisite handmade oxfords by Ludwig Reiter from Vienna! These are the little things that make the difference. This man exudes an air of elegance even with the simplest pieces.

Adolf Pütz Architect, Berlin This shows that if style is in your blood, you cannot hide it. This architect was seen along Friedrichstraße, a fashionable stretch of central Berlin. The epaulets add a rough edge to the jacket and those Jil Sander sandals are like the icing on the cake. He is a fine example of wearing your clothes with panache, regardless of age.
Filip Schoning Interior architect, Antwerp He caught our attention at the Princess Blue store at Schrijnwerkersstraat, Antwerp. With the notched lapels of his blazer, jeans and silver shoes, the immaculately groomed charmer blew us away. Of course, he scored with the bull terrier as well. He is also responsible for designing the store, which carries a mix of Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam, Acne Jeans and more.
