LONGEST TRAVELLER: GLOBAL HUMOR trained by J Goldie, Glasgow, 146 miles. RACE SUMMARY This is very competitive and SPARTAN FIGHTER is just preferred following his C&D victory at the end of October. He has been raised 5lb for that success but that is partially negated by his rider’s 3lb claim. Royal Advice sprung a surprise at Wolverhampton in a first-time visor last week and he’ll be a danger under a penalty. PINK CRYSTAL really caught the eye on debut over C&D in October having weaved her way through from a fair way back. She’s likely to improve considerably for that experience and looks the one to beat. Her stablemate Tiber Flow may be the biggest danger. Macchiavello looks the next best alternative. 1-2-3: 1.PINK CRYSTAL (IRE) 2.TIBER FLOW (IRE) 3.MACCHIAVELLO (IRE) KEY colours

HORSE WELFARE Here at Newcastle Racecourse nothing matters more to us than looking after the horses that make us the North East’s Premier Racecourse. We do everything in our power to ensure that we provide a racing surface of the highest quality and we take every conceivable care to minimise the chances of horses incurring any injury whilst here. Regrettably, as in any highly competitive sport, there are occasions when something goes wrong and horses have to be given the very best veterinary care. There are three Veterinary Surgeons here today to ensure that should any horse need help they will be attended to within seconds of any incident occurring. Their first priority is to make a rapid diagnosis and to help them do this our groundstaff team will erect screens around any horse that needs attention. Once the diagnosis is made, one of our horse ambulances will attend the scene and will transport the horse back to the stables where further treatment and assessment can be undertaken. Occasionally, it may be that the nature of the injury is such that a horse is unable to make a recovery. If this is the case the Veterinary team may take the decision to put the horse down straight away. In these circumstances we should remember that the horse’s welfare comes first and that this option is kindest for the horse. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy please visit our website www.newcastle-racecourse.co.uk 23

RACE SUMMARY

BOOSALA got firmly back on the up when scoring at Doncaster with Young Fire in second and he’s expected to confirm those placings despite a small rise. Sanaadh is too well handicapped to ignore, particularly as he tends to go well at this track, so he’s a danger if on his game. 1-2-3: 1.BOOSALA (IRE) 2.YOUNG FIRE (FR) 3.SANAADH KEY colours

A tight finale. TADLEEL has come down to a decent mark based on the form he showed here earlier in the year so he’s the suggestion. Teston started the year with a runner-up effort at Southwell off 11lb higher and shaped as if back in form here last time so he’s feared most ahead of Imperial Command.
