Weatherbys Digital Solutions Handicap
Nine go to post in the Weatherbys Digital Solutions Handicap, a competitive-looking Class 5 handicap over a mile.
The weights are headed by Chief’s Will for Archie Watson, who is still riding high after bagging three winners at Royal Ascot. Luke Morris, who won this race in 2017, takes the ride, and the four-year-old has dropped down to his last winning mark. He finished third over course and distance here last month, with the second going on to score at Beverley next time.
Jamie Spencer also won this contest in 2019, and he takes the ride on the hattrick seeking Panning For Gold for David Simcock. The three-year-old has to handle a 7lb rise in the weights but looks incredibly progressive and already has a course and distance win to his name.
Five-year-old Roman Dynasty is the oldest horse in the field, and looks to build on a mightily impressive five length victory at Nottingham last week. The son of Mehmas kicked clear impressively to leave his rivals behind that day, gaining his first victory since his debut success back in 2020 Talented claimer Billy Loughnane continues to be in sparkling form, and he gets the leg up on Showcasing gelding Monopolise for Ed Walker. He closed last term with a pair of victories at Newmarket and Kempton, and has finished behind some progressive rivals so far this term.
Jack Jones’ Silver Screen is one of two fillies in the line-up, and searches for her first victory for the trainer, her only success coming in a Wolverhampton novice for Clive Cox in 2021. She finished second over course and distance here last September, and drops back into calmer waters here following a run in Listed company at York. The other filly who takes her place in the field is Lordsbridge Girl for the team of William Knight and Neil Callan. She has failed to justify favouritism the last twice after appearing to be a progressive sort at the back end of last term, but did finish behind an Ed Dunlop-trained gelding who won next time out and is now rated 10lbs higher.
Story Of Peace has had just the four career starts to date, and failed to make his presence felt when slowly away on handicap debut at Southwell last time The three-year-old is tried in cheekpieces for the first time here. Almarin is a course and distance winner, landing a novice here last year in impressive style. He has proved to be rather inconsistent this term, but a repeat of his Doncaster second behind a rival that had won his last three would put him right in the mix here. On the other side of the spectrum, Inspirited has been incredibly consistent having finished outside of the top two just twice in his six career starts however he must bounce back from a rare poor effort at Southwell last time
