About the Speakers Gary Sides, PhD, is the beef and feedlot nutritionist with
Pfizer Animal Health. He has been with Pfizer since 2003. Sides has extensive beef industry nutrition experience, compiling 20 years with organizations such as Intervet/Hoechst-Russell Vet, Cargill Animal Nutrition and Moorman Manufacturing Company.
Jeff Long is entering his fourth full year as Vice Chancellor
and Director of Athletics for the University of Arkansas. He has guided the school’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics through a period of unprecedented transition while revitalizing a traditionrich athletics program encompassing 19 sports and more than 460 student athletes.

Presenters: Matt King, ArFB economist; Beau Bishop, ArFB local affairs and rural development coordinator Technology is an ever-present part of our daily lives. Technology is continuously changing the way we communicate and share information. This workshop will unveil the new Arkansas Farm Bureau smartphone application for market information. The workshop will also seek feedback from participants on the type of information they wish to receive from Farm Bureau and the potential of new tools to communicate that message to our leaders and membership.
Ballot Issues & Legislative Concerns
Presenters: Senator-elect Uvalde Lindsey; Rodney Baker, ArFB director of Governmental Affairs The legislative session is fast approaching. Lindsey will discuss the challenges ahead of the General Assembly and some of the anticipated hot issues. This workshop will also provide an overview of the issues that will be on the General Election ballot in November. This session will arm you with the facts about the issues before the voters this year and the work of the 89th General Assembly.
Insurance Issues
Presenter: Duff Wallace, vice president and general manager of Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. of Arkansas, Inc. During the previous four years (2008–2011), Arkansans have seen more frequent and more severe storms. These storms have had great implications for the insurance industry and, in particular, Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Arkansas, Inc. Wallace will discuss the storms’ impact and the plans to strengthen our insurance operations going forward.
