C’est pourquoi, la question des matériaux est un point essentiel de notre travail : travaillant autant en éco-réhabilitation qu’en éco-construction, la terre est un matériau que nous utilisons de différentes manières et pour différentes raisons. Que ce soit pour l’esthétique, pour une pérennité d’un ouvrage ou pour l’obtention d’une inertie forte, la terre est apparue comme une des solutions viables à nos yeux. D’abord utilisée en petite quantité pour vérifier nos hypothèses dans différents projets, nous avons ensuite approfondie nos connaissances par une formation spécifique au Centre international de la construction en terre à GRENOBLE (CRATERRE) : « La terre crue, utilisée depuis onze millénaires, reste aujourd’hui le matériau de construction le plus répandu à travers le monde. Un tiers de l’humanité vit dans un habitat en terre, soit plus de deux milliards de personnes dans 150 pays. Les architectures de terre, simples ou monumentales, sont présentes dans des contextes variés et répondent à des besoins très divers. » Nous avons pu utiliser les produits ARGILUS dans différents projets de crèches (enduit de finition terre), de pôle santé (enduit monocouche sur murs de moellons+badigeon en finition), de bureaux (dalle de béton d’argile et tomettes), d’écoles (enduit monocouche), de Biopôle (béton d’argile, enduits, tomettes) ou bien d’habitats (enduits, briques de terre crue)… La pluralité de l’offre permet de toujours varier et d’avoir le produit adapté à notre besoin. De part son bilan carbone (matériau sur place), sa capacité hygrométrique, sa forte inertie, sa texture, sa facilité de mise en œuvre, ses différentes couleurs, son recyclage, nous considérons que c’est un matériau plein d’avenir pour l’architecture de demain. »

Sandrine Raphel-Chesse Our projects cover several areas: services, refurbishments, small buildings, interiors, feasibility studies, homes, industrial buildings, agricultural buildings, town planning, extensions… Our goal is always to offer our know-how and experience for the services of architecture, the environment and the user. The question of materials is essential in our work: working both in eco-refurbishment and eco-construction, earth is a material that we use if various ways and for various reasons. For aesthetic reasons, the preservation of a building or to for considerable inertness, earth appeared to be a viable solution. Used initially in small quantities to confirm our hypotheses on several projects, we subsequently furthered our knowledge with specific training at the International centre for earthen architecture in GRENOBLE (CRATERRE): “Earth has been used for eleven millennia and today remains the most widely used building material around the world. One third of the total human population lives in a building made of earth - more than two billion people in 150 countries. Earthen architectures, simple and monumental, are present in a diversity of contexts and meet a vast array of needs.” » We have used ARGILUS products in various projects: crèches (earthen finish plaster), health clinics (single layer plaster on fieldstone walls + finish daub), offices (clay concrete flooring and tiles), schools (single layer plaster), “Biopôle” (clay concrete, plaster, tiles) and homes (plaster, unfired terracotta bricks)…The diversity of the range allows us to provide variety and means we always have the right product for our needs. With its low carbon footprint (materials in situ), humidity profile, considerable inertness, texture, ease of use, variety of colours and recyclability, we believe this is the material of the future for the architecture of tomorrow.

Wir führen derzeit Projekte in verschiedenen Sektoren durch. Hierzu zählen beispielsweise tertiäre Projekte, Sanierungen, Kleinausstattungen, Inneneinrichtungen, Durchführbarkeitsstudien, Wohnwesen, Industriegebäude, landwirtschaftliche Gebäude, städtische Einrichtungen, Ausbau und Erweiterungen… Ziel ist es, unser Know-how und unsere spezifische Erfahrung in den Dienst der Architektur, der Umwelt und der Benutzer zu stellen. Aus diesem Grund spielen die Materialien für unsere Arbeiten eine wichtige Rolle: da wir gleichermaßen in den Bereichen der Öko-Sanierung und der Öko-Konstruktion tätig werden, setzen wir den Lehm bei unseren Projekten in unterschiedlicher Art und Weise sowie aus unterschiedlichen Gründen ein. Für uns bildet der Lehm eine vertretbare Lösung im Hinblick auf die Ästhetik, die Beständigkeit einer Konstruktion oder auch für die Erlangung einer hohen Dimensionsstabilität. Zunächst verwendeten wir bei unseren Projekten geringe Mengen von Lehm, um unsere Theorien in der Praxis bestätigen zu können. Im Anschluss daran konnten wir unsere neu erworbenen Kenntnisse bei einer speziellen Schulung im internationalen Lehmbauzentrum «Centre international de la construction en terre» in GRENOBLE (CRATERRE) vertiefen: «Der seit 11 Jahrhunderten verwendete Lehm gilt in der Gegenwart als das weltweit am stärksten verbreitete Baumaterial. Ein Drittel der Erdbewohner lebt in einer aus Lehm gebauten Wohnstätte. Dies entspricht mehr als 2 Milliarden Personen in 150 Ländern! Die Lehmarchitektur ist in Form von einfachen oder auch monumentalen Bauwerken in unterschiedlichsten Kontexten anzutreffen und erfüllt sehr vielfältige Aufgaben.» Wir konnten die Produkte von ARGILUS bereits bei verschiedenen Projekten einsetzen: Kindertagesstätten (Oberflächenverputz aus Lehm), Gesundheitszentren (einschichtiger Verputz auf Bruchsteinmau ern+Oberflächenbearbeitung mit Maueranstrichfarbe), Büroräume (Platten aus Lehmbeton und sechseckige Fliesen), Kindergärten und Grundschulen (einschichtiger Verputz), Arbeiten für «Biopôle» (Lehmbeton, Verputz, sechseckige Fliesen) oder Wohnstätten (Verputz, Lehmbauplatten)… Das vielfältige Produktangebot ermöglicht es uns, die Produkteigenschaften spezifisch anzupassen und dem Kunden ein optimiertes Produkt anzubieten. Aufgrund der Kohlenstoffbilanz (vor Ort verfügbares Material), der hygrometrischen Eigenschaften, der hohen Dimensionsstabilität, der Textur, der einfachen Anwendung, der verschiedenen Farbtöne, des Recyclings usw. ist der Lehm für uns ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der Architektur von heute und morgen.

L’enduit TORCHIS et le TORCHIS DE REMPLISSAGE ARGILUS, qui sont 2 produits différents, répondent parfaitement à la restauration des monuments historiques, du bâti ancien et en apport de masse thermique dans l’habitat plus contemporain. Le TORCHIS DE REMPLISSAGE est principalement destiné aux colombages et est composé d’argile, de longues fibres de paille d’orge afin d’alléger et structurer le produit en forte épaisseur, et de différents sables. Il peut s’appliquer jusqu’à 15 cm en plusieurs couches (3 généralement) et est conditionné en BIG BAG d’1 tonne uniquement. L’enduit TORCHIS, est composé d’argile, de fibres de paille d’orge moins longues et plus fines, et de différents sables. Il sert à corriger les fortes inégalités murales et s’applique jusqu’à 5 cm d’épaisseur en 2 couches. Son conditionnement se présente en BIG BAG d’1 tonne ou en sac de 25 kg.

ARGILUS COB plaster and COB FILL, 2 different products, are perfectly suited to the restoration of historical monuments, old buildings and to add heat mass to more contemporary homes. COB FILL is mainly used in joists and is comprised of clay, long barley straw fibres to lighten it and give structural thickness, and various types of sand. It can be applied up to 15 cm in several layers (usually 3) and comes in BIG BAGS of 1 tonne only. COB plaster is made of clay, shorter and thinner barley straw fibres, and various types of sand. It is used to correct severe irregularities in walls and is applied up to 5 cm thick in 2 layers. It comes in a BIG BAG of one tonne or in 25kg bags.

Et Der Strohlehmverputz und der Füllstrohlehm von ARGILUS, zwei vollkommen unterschiedliche Produkte, eignen sich ideal für die Renovierung historischer Monumente, alter Gebäude sowie als Zuführung von thermischer Masse in moderneren Wohnstätten. Der Füllstrohlehm eignet sich insbesondere für Fachwerk aus senkrechten Stielen und besteht aus Lehm, langen Gerstenstrohfasern, um das Gewicht dieses sehr dicken Produktes zu verringern, sowie aus verschiedenen Sandarten. Dieses Produkt kann bis zu 15 cm dick in mehreren Schichten (in der Regel 3 Schichten) aufgetragen werden und ist nur in einem Big Bag verpackt mit jeweils 1 Tonne Inhalt erhältlich. Der Strohlehmverputz besteht aus Lehm, feineren und kürzeren Gerstenstrohfasern sowie verschiedenen Sandarten. Dieses Produkt wird zur Korrektur/Reparatur von starken Unebenheiten an Wänden eingesetzt und wird in bis zu 5 cm dick zwei Schichten aufgetragen. Dieses Produkt ist in einem Big Bag mit 1 Tonne Inhalt oder in einem 25-kg-Sack erhältlich.

Il est composé d’argile, de chanvre fin, de différents sables et d’ocres naturelles pour certaines couleurs. L’enduit MONOCOUCHE peut servir d’enduit de finition quand les supports et la qualité d’application le permettent. Ce produit s’applique manuellement ou à la machine à projeter. Les réglages à effectuer à la machine à projeter sont fournis par ARGILUS dans la fiche technique du produit.

It is made of clay, fine hemp, various types of sand and natural ochre for some colours. SINGLE LAYER plaster can be used as a finishing plaster when the supports and quality of application allow. This product can be applied manually or using a projection machine. The settings for the projection machine are provided by ARGILUS in the product’s technical data sheet.

Der einschichtige Verputz oder Grundverputz wird in einer etwa 1 cm dicken Schicht aufgetragen. Dieses Produkt ist in einem Big Bag mit einer 1 Tonne Inhalt trocken oder feucht (Wetclay) oder in einem 25-kg-Sack erhältlich. Diese Produktreihe umfasst 7 anwendungsbereite Farbtöne. Das Produkt besteht aus Lehm, feinem Hanf, verschiedenen Sandarten sowie bei bestimmten Farbtönen auch aus natürlichem Ocker. Der einschichtige Verputz kann als Oberflächenverputz verwendet werden, wenn das Trägermaterial und die Auftragungsqualität hochwertig genug ausfallen. Dieses Produkt wird manuelle oder einer Spritzmaschine aufgetragen. Die erforderlichen Einstellungen der Spritzmaschine werden von ARGILUS auf dem technischen Datenblatt des Produktes bereitgestellt.

ARGILUS-PROTOKOLL FÜR DIE TROCKNUNG VON LEHMVERPUTZ

Les enduits à l’argile sont réapparus dans l’habitat depuis maintenant quelques années grâce à leurs propriétés écologiques, recyclables et faciles de mise en œuvre. Néanmoins, ces enduits ne sèchent pas de la même façon que des enduits à base de ciments ou de chaux. Ils sèchent et durcissent uniquement grâce à la migration de l’eau vers l’extérieur. C’est pourquoi, après leur application, une bonne ventilation doit être assurée car un séchage rapide de l’enduit sans apparition de moisissures est souhaitable. Ce document vous explique les mécanismes de séchage et vous donne des conseils pour leurs applications. Ces conseils sont également utiles pour d’autres matériaux de construction, qui ne comportent pas d’additifs fongicides, qui sont mis en œuvre en état humide et qui sont exposés à une hygrométrie élevée pendant la période de construction.

Clay plaster made its reappearance in the home several years ago thanks to its ecological, recyclable and easy to use properties. However, this type of plaster does not dry in the same way as cement-based or lime plaster. They only dry and harden due to the migration of the water to the exterior. For this reason, after application, good ventilation must be ensured as rapid drying of the plaster without the appearance of mould is preferable. This document explains the drying mechanisms and provides advice on how to apply them. This advice is also useful for other construction materials, containing no anti-fungal additives, used wet and exposed to high humidity during the construction period.

Der Lehmverputz hat dank seiner ökologischen Eigenschaften, seiner Recyclingfähigkeit und der einfachen Anwendung bereits vor mehreren Jahren erneut Einzug in unsere Wohnräume gehalten. Allerdings trocknet dieser Verputz nicht genauso wie aus Zement oder Kalk hergestellter Verputz. Der Lehmverputz trocknet und härtet sich durch die Wanderung des Wassers von der Innenseite zur Außenseite der aufgetragenen Schichten. Deshalb muss sofort nach dem Auftragen dieses Verputzes für eine korrekte Lüftung der bearbeiteten Räume gesorgt werden, um idealerweise eine schnelle Trocknung des Verputzes ohne Schimmelbildung zu erlangen. In diesem Dokument werden Ihnen die verschiedenen Trocknungsmechanismen erläutert. Zudem werden Ihnen Tipps für eine korrekte Anwendung dieses Verputzes bereitgestellt. Diese Tipps können auch auf andere Baumaterialien, die keine fungiziden Zusatzmittel enthalten, im feuchten Zustand aufgetragen werden und während der Bauarbeiten einer erhöhten Luftfeuchtigkeit ausgesetzt sind, übertragen werden.

Wie läuft die Trocknung von Lehmverputz ab ?

Le processus de séchage se base sur le fait de la recherche d’équilibre entre l’air humide et l’air sec. A proximité des surfaces de matériaux humides, l’air est saturé ou enrichi de molécules de vapeur d’eau. C’est pour cela, que nous vous conseillons de ventiler au maximum les pièces afin d’évacuer ce surplus d’humidité et ce même en hiver. Quand l’air sec de l’extérieur est amené à proximité des surfaces humides, cet air absorbe des molécules de vapeur d’eau. Plus l’air est sec, plus il est capable d’absorber de l’eau. La température de l’air et sa teneur en humidité à l’extérieur varie en fonction des saisons et des régions.

The drying process is based on the search for a balance between humid air and dry air. Close to the surface of humid materials, the air is saturated or enriched with molecules of water vapour. For this reason, we recommend you ventilate rooms as much as possible to evacuate this surplus humidity, even in winter. When the dry air from the exterior comes close to humid surfaces, this air absorbs the molecules of water vapour. The drier the air, the more water it can absorb. The temperature of the exterior air and its humidity vary according to the season and to the region.

Der Trocknungsprozess beruht auf der Erlangung eines ausgewogenen Gleichgewichtes von feuchter und trockener Luft. In unmittelbarer Nähe der Oberflächen feuchter Materialien ist die Luft gesättigt oder mit Wasserdampfmolekülen angereichert. Deshalb empfehlen wir Ihnen, die bearbeiteten Räume so oft wie möglich zu lüften, um diese überschüssige Feuchtigkeit aus den Räumen zu entfernen. Dies gilt selbstverständlich auch im Winter. Wenn die trockene Luft in die Nähe der feuchten Oberflächen gelangt, saugt diese Luft die Wasserdampfmoleküle auf. Je trockener die Luft ist, desto besser kann sie das Wasser bzw. die Feuchtigkeit aufsaugen. Die Temperatur der Luft und der Feuchtigkeitsgehalt im Freien hängen von der jeweiligen Jahreszeit und den regionalen Klimabedingungen ab.

What is relative humidity of air?

L’humidité de l’air est exprimée en pourcentage. 100 % correspond à la limite de la capacité d’absorption soit la saturation. L’air chaud et sec absorbe plus de vapeur d’eau que l’air froid. Par exemple, pour saturer l’air à 0°C en vapeur d’eau, il faut 4.85gr d’eau par m3 ; pour l’air à 15°C il faut 12.80gr d’eau par m3 soit un facteur de presque 2.5 !!

Air humidity is expressed as a percentage. 100 % corresponds to the limit of the absorption capacity or saturation. Hot dry air absorbs more water vapour than cold air. Die Luftfeuchtigkeit wird in Prozent angegeben. Ein Wert von 100 % entspricht dem oberen Grenzwert des Absorptionsvermögens bzw. der Sättigung der Luft. Die warme und trockene Luft absorbiert eine größere Menge an Wasserdampf als kalte Luft. Um beispielsweise die Luft bei einer Temperatur von 0°C mit Wasserdampf zu sättigen, sind 4,85 g Wasser pro m3 erforderlich. Bei einer Lufttemperatur von 15°C sind 12,80 g Wasser pro m3 erforderlich, was einem Faktor von fast 2,5 entspricht!!

Die warme und trockene Luft begünstigt in der Regel eine schnelle Trocknung von Lehmverputz. Allerdings VORSICHT: Im Spätsommer kann oftmals ein Anstieg der Luftfeuchtigkeit verzeichnet werden, wenn die warme und feuchte Luft beispielsweise mit kalten Oberflächenelementen der Bauarbeiten in Berührung kommt. Dieses Phänomen kann zur Schimmelbildung auf der oberen Schicht des Verputzes führen, wenn der Installateur nicht schnellstmöglich entsprechenden Maßnahmen ergreift (z. B. Verwendung eines Luftentfeuchters). Der Schimmel bildet sich nach der vollständigen Trocknung des Trägermaterials von alleine wieder zurück. Es muss unbedingt darauf geachtet werden, den Luftzug permanent aufrecht zu halten. Bei einer gerade mit Lehm verputzten Baustelle müssen alle Türen und Fenster permanent geöffnet bleiben. Die Lufterneuerungsrate kann bei geöffneten Fenstern auf einen 4 Mal größeren Wert geschätzt werden. Die Be- und Entlüftungsanlagen (VMC) reichen in der Regel nicht für eine korrekte Lüftung der bearbeiteten Räume aus.

L’air chaud et sec est globalement plus favorable à un séchage rapide des enduits à l’argile. ATTENTION : En fin d’été, il peut y avoir un accroissement d’humidité, si par exemple de l’air chaud et humide rentre en contact avec des surfaces d’éléments de construction froids. Ce phénomène peut entrainer l’apparition de moisissures sur l’épiderme de l’enduit si aucune décision rapide n’est prise par l’applicateur (extracteur d’humidité par exemple). Ces moisissures disparaitront une fois le support complètement sec. Il faut impérativement garantir un courant d’air permanent. Sur un chantier fraichement enduit à l’argile, toutes les portes et fenêtres doivent être ouvertes en permanence. Le taux de renouvellement de l’air peut être estimé à 4 fois plus avec les fenêtres ouvertes. Les VMC, en règle générale, ne suffisent pas à assurer une bonne aération de la pièce en cours de travaux.

De manière simplifiée, on peut estimer qu’il faut évacuer 200 000 grammes d’eau par ventilation. Pendant le mois de Mai, dans certaines régions moins favorables au séchage, l’air peut absorber maximum 3.5 grammes / m3 (4.5 à 6.5 dans le sud de la France). Avec les fenêtres ouvertes et un volume d’air de l’habitation de 60M3, il est possible d’évacuer 20160 grammes d’eau en 24h par ventilation, donc il faudra 10 jours avec fenêtres ouvertes pour un séchage complet. Par contre, il existe des extracteurs d’humidité (disponibles à la location) qui sont des machines simples et efficaces et qui peuvent diviser par 2 ou 3 ce temps de séchage. Dans ce cas, il faudra faire fonctionner l’appareil avec les portes et fenêtres fermées. Ce type de séchage est sûr et performant pour l’applicateur. Il est recommandé par ARGILUS lors des applications d’enduits supérieures à 1 cm d’épaisseur et durant les mois d’hiver.

Mr X applies 50 m² of ARGILUS NATURAL SINGLE LAYER plaster 2cm thick maximum on a brick or stone wall. This plaster contains about 200 litres of mixing water. Explained simply, we can estimate that 200 000 grams of water need to be evacuated by ventilation. During the month of May, in some regions not so good for drying, the air can absorb a maximum of 3.5 grams / m3 (4.5 to 6.5 in the south of France). ARGILUS empfiehlt diese Vorgehensweise bei der Verwendung von Verputz in mehr als 1 cm dicken Schichten sowie während der Wintermonate.

ACCESSOIRES BATICLAY® plaster was created by ARGILUS for strawbale construction, restoration of stone façades and some adobe or brick walls. CLAY CONCRETE PROTECTIVE FILM Oiled kraft paper protective film allows the substrate to breathe and prevents the risk of rising damp. It is strongly recommended by ARGILUS when working with concrete. JUTE CLOTH Jute cloth is the traditional framework used in ecological construction in general. A minimum of experience is required to apply it. For use in thin layers of clay, ARGILUS recommends using glass fabric with a 5mm mesh.

SCHUTZFILM FÜR LEHMBETON Der Schutzfilm aus geöltem Kraftpapier lässt die Unterschicht atmen und verhindert gleichzeitig große aufsteigende Mengen an Feuchtigkeit. Die Verwendung dieses Schutzfilms wird von ARGILUS vor dem Auftragen des Betons stark empfohlen. JUTEGEWEBE Bei dem Jutegewebe handelt es sich um eine klassische, üblicherweise in der Öko-Konstruktion eingesetzte Bewehrung. Das Jutegewebe sollte allerdings von bereits erfahrenen Personen verwendet werden. Für die Mischung mit feinen Lehmschichten empfiehlt ARGILUS die Verwendung von Glasgewebe mit einer Maschenweite von 5 mm.

CONSEILS DE POSE ET D’ENTRETIEN DE NOS CARREAUX DE TERRE CUITE ETAPE 1 : PRISE DES CARREAUX SUR PALETTE Prendre les carreaux sur les différentes palettes livrées pour avoir une homogénéité du rendu général (teinte unie ou panachée) ETAPE 2 : POSE DES CARREAUX 2 possibilités s’offrent à l’applicateur en fonction des contraintes du chantier : pose sur chape à la chaux ou pose collée sur plancher chauffant ou pas. POSE SUR CHAPE A LA CHAUX : l’applicateur humidifiera ses carreaux 24h avant la pose en les laissant tremper dans des bassines d’eau claire. Il tirera sa chape « à l’ancienne » à l’aide d’une règle de maçon et ajustera ses carreaux au fur et à mesure à l’aide d’un maillet en caoutchouc rang par rang. Après un séchage d’au moins 7 jours, les joints pourront être faits à l’aide d’un mélange chaux/sable ou d’une barbotine de chaux uniquement si les joints sont très fins. Un bon décapage de la laitance est à prévoir avec ce type de pose quelques jours après la réalisation des joints. Celui-ci peut se faire à l’aide du DECAPANT LAITANCE GILLAIZEAU. POSE COLLEE : 2 types de colle sont à utiliser dans ce type d’application. Pour un plancher chauffant, l’applicateur utilisera une colle FLEX C2S BLANCHE et pour un plancher classique une colle FLEX SOUPLE BLANCHE. Il faudra veiller à appliquer la colle en simple encollage sur le sol avec un peigne de 10 mm. La colle sèche rapidement en fonction des conditions climatiques (48H en moyenne). Les carreaux de terre cuite seront découpés à l’aide d’une disqueuse avec disque diamant ou d’une scie circulaire à eau avec disque diamant. ETAPE 3 : IMPERMEABILISATION AVANT LES JOINTS L’imperméabilisation des carreaux avant la réalisation des joints est indispensable pour ne pas trop salir leur épiderme. Il suffit pour cela d’utiliser l’IMPERMEABILISANT GILLAIZEAU qu’il faudra appliquer au pulvérisateur en jet large sur l’ensemble de la surface en 1 seule passe et de façon uniforme. Cette opération doit se faire sur un carreau propre, non poussiéreux et sec. Ces conditions doivent obligatoirement être réunies. ETAPE 4 : POSE DES JOINTS Il existe 2 types de joints pour cette étape en fonction encore une fois de la présence ou non d’un plancher chauffant. L’applicateur utilisera un joint de TYPE LARGE pour un plancher chauffant ou un joint de TYPE FLEX si le plancher est classique. Plusieurs teintes sont disponibles. Merci de nous consulter. Il faudra bien nettoyer m² par m² la surface jointoyée afin de laisser le minimum de produit sur les carreaux. L’applicateur pourra alors s’aider d’une grosse éponge et d’un seau d’eau bien propre. Les joints des carreaux de terre cuite ne doivent pas dépasser 8 à 10 mm d’épaisseur pour obtenir un rendu esthétique optimal. ETAPE 5 : NETTOYAGE DU SOL ET TRAITEMENT DES CARREAUX AVANT EMMENAGEMENT Avant d’emménager la pièce, le sol devra être parfaitement propre, sec et également traité sur toute la surface. Afin d’enlever la laitance sur les carreaux, qui est un phénomène courant, il faudra décaper les carreaux à l’aide du DECAPANT LAITANCE GILLAIZEAU. Cette opération consiste à nettoyer énergiquement l’ensemble de la surface pour faire disparaître cette petite pellicule blanche qui est dû soit à la chaux, soit aux remontées de colle ou de joints. Une fois cette opération terminée, laissez bien sécher le sol avant d’appliquer les 2 dernières couches d’IMPERMEABLISANT GILLAIZEAU à l’aide d’un pulvérisateur. Il faudra attendre 4 à 6 heures, voire plus, entre chaque couche pour que les carreaux sèches correctement. ETAPE 6 : ENTRETIEN Les carreaux GILLAIZEAU étant d’excellente qualité, un traitement supplémentaire n’est pas forcément indispensable. Néanmoins, nous vous conseillons 2 cires afin de protéger votre sol de façon optimale. La CIRE CARRELAGE qui apportera une protection tout en conservant un aspect mat et une CIRE METALISEE qui elle, rendra votre sol satiné. Une des 2 cires est conseillée automatiquement dans les cuisines ou les pièces à vivre pour diminuer le risque de tâche. Pour l’entretien courant, le propriétaire du sol passera la serpillère régulièrement sur les carreaux avec de l’eau tiède et un peu de produit à base d’huile de lin (Type CAROLIN) uniquement. Nous ne conseillons pas le savon noir afin de ne pas encrasser le sol.

INFORMATIONS : * Les tolérances dimensionnelles de nos produits peuvent varier compte tenu de l’empreinte originelle et de leur technique de fabrication (+ ou - 2 mm). LAYING AND MAINTENANCE TIPS FOR OUR TERRACOTTA TILES STEP 1 : TAKING TILES FROM THE PALLET Takes tiles from different pallets delivered so as to ensure overall uniformity (single shade or mixture) STEP 2 : LAYING THE TILES There are 2 possibilities for tile layers depending on the construction site: laying on screed with lime or bonded onto underfloor heating or not. LAYING ON SCREED WITH LIME: the tiles should be wetted 24 hours prior to laying by leaving them to soak in basins of clean water. The screed should be “pulled” traditionally using a straight-edge and tiles should be adjusted as laid using a rubber mallet row by row. After at least 7 days drying, the joints can be grouted using a mixture of lime/sand or a lime slip only if the joints are very small. After the joints have been grouted, this type of laying requires the laitance to be removed after several days. This can be done using the GILLAIZEAU LAITANCE REMOVER. ADHESIVE LAY: 2 types of adhesive should be used in this type of application. For underfloor heating, use FLEX C2S BLANCHE and for traditional flooring use FLEX SOUPLE BLANCHE. The adhesive should be applied in a single layer to the floor using a 10 mm comb. The adhesive dries rapidly depending on the weather conditions (on average 48 hours). Terracotta tiles should be cut using a diamond disk cutter or a circular water saw with a diamond disk. STEP 3 : SEALING PRIOR TO GROUTING It is essential to seal the tiles before grouting to prevent dirtying the skin. To do so, use GILLAIZEAU SEALANT to be sprayed uniformly in a single passage over the whole surface. This should be done on clean, dry tiles, free of dust. These conditions are essential. STEP 4 : GROUTING Two types of grouting are available for this step, depending on whether underfloor heating is present or not. A grouting such as TYPE LARGE should be used for underfloor heating and TYPE FLEX for traditional flooring. Several shades are available. Please contact us. The grouted surface should be cleaned m² by m² so as to leave as little product as possible on the tiles. To do so, use a large sponge and bucket of clean water. Terracotta tile joints should not exceed 8 to 100 mm in thickness for optimal aesthetic results. STEP 5 : CLEANING THE FLOOR AND TREATING TILES BEFORE THE MOVE Before moving furniture into the room, the floor should be perfectly clean, dry and the whole surface treated. Laitance on the tiles is a common phenomenon and should be removed using GILLAIZEAU LAITANCE REMOVER. This operation consists of energetically cleaning the whole surface to remove this white film due to the lime, or to excess adhesive or grouting. Once completed, allow the floor to dry before applying 2 final layers of GILLAIZEAU SEALANT by spray. For the tiles to dry properly, leave 4 to 6 hours (or more) between each application. STEP 6 : MAINTENANCE GILLAIZEAU tiles are of excellent quality and no further treatment is necessary. However, we recommend 2 waxes to protect your floor as much as possible. TILE WAX offers protection while preserving a matt look and METAL WAX will give your floor a shiny look. Either wax is recommended systematically in kitchens and living areas to reduce the risk of stains. For daily cleaning, mop the floor regularly with warm water and a little linseed-oil based product (such as CAROLIN) only. We recommend not using soap based detergents so as not to clog up the floor.

LAYING TIPS INFORMATION : * The dimensional tolerances of our products may vary given the original mould and manufacturing technique (+/- 2 mm). These differences will need to be corrected by adjustment of tiles on laying. * Any queries concerning the aspect of products cannot be accepted once they have been laid, as the manufacturer’s liability is limited to replacement products recognised as defective on reception. * When laying TERRACOTTA tiles on an exterior patio, please consult the Building code in force of the National Construction rules for this type of project.

INSTALLATIONS UND PFLEGEHINWEISE FÜR UNSERE TERRAKOTTA-PLATTEN SCHRITT 1 : ENTNAHME DER PLATTEN VON EINER PALETTE Verwenden Sie die Platten der verschiedenen Paletten, um ein einheitliches Gesamtbild zu erlangen (einheitlicher oder gemischter Farbton). SCHRITT 2 : INSTALLATION DER PLATTEN Der Installateur verfügt je nach Baustellenvorgaben über 2 mögliche Vorgehensweisen: Verlegung auf der Ausgleichsschicht mit Kalk oder verklebte Verlegung auf Fußbodenheizung oder normalem Boden. VERLEGUNG AUF AUSGLEICHSSCHICHT MIT KALK: Der Installateur befeuchtet seine Platten 24 Stunden vor der Verlegung, in dem er die Platten in mit klarem Wasser gefüllten Becken einweichen lässt. Danach glättet er die Ausgleichsschicht auf «traditionelle Art und Weise» mit Hilfe eines Maurerlineals und passt die Platten nach und nach sowie reihenweise mit einem Gummihammer an. Nach einer mindestens siebentägigen Trockendauer können die Fugen mit Hilfe einer Mischung von Kalk/Sand oder mit Kalkschlamm bei sehr feinen Fugen gefüllt werden. Bei dieser Vorgehensweise ist ein sorgfältiges Dekapieren der Schlempe erforderlich, das ein paar Tage nach dem Füllen der Fugen erfolgen sollte. Hierzu kann das Produkt DECAPANT LAITANCE GILLAIZEAU verwendet werden. VERKLEBTE VERLEGUNG: Bei dieser Art von Verlegung müssen zwei verschiedene Klebertypen verwendet werden. Bei einer Fußbodenheizung verwendet der Installateur einen weißen Kleber FLEX C2S BLANCHE und für einen normalen Boden einen weißen Kleber FLEX SOUPLE BLANCHE. Es muss darauf geachtet werden, dass der Kleber auf dem Boden mit Hilfe eines 10-mm-Kamms einfach verleimt wird. Der Kleber trocknet je nach vorliegenden Klimabedingungen recht schnell (in der Regel innerhalb von 48 Stunden). Die Terrakotta-Platten werden mit Hilfe eines Winkelschleifers mit Diamantscheibe oder Wasserkreissäge mit Diamantscheibe zugeschnitten. SCHRITT 3 : IMPRÄGNIERUNG VOR DEM FÜLLEN DER FUGEN Die Imprägnierung der Platten vor dem Füllen der Fugen ist erforderlich, um die Oberschicht der Platten vor zu starken Verschmutzungen zu schützen. Hierzu kann ganz einfach das Produkt IMPERMEABILISANT GILLAIZEAU verwendet werden. Dieses Produkt wird mit einem Sprühverteiler und einem breiten Sprühstrahl auf die gesamte Fläche innerhalb eines einzigen Sprühganges gleichmäßig aufgetragen. Dieser Vorgang muss auf sauberen, staubfreien und trockenen Platten erfolgen. Diese Bedingungen sind für die Ausführung der Imprägnierung absolut erforderlich. SCHRITT 4 : FÜLLEN DER FUGEN Für diesen Schritt stehen zwei Fugentypen zur Verfügung, die davon abhängen, ob eine Fußbodenheizung vorhanden ist oder es sich um einen normalen Boden handelt. Der Installateur verwendet bei einer Fußbodenheizung eine Fuge vom Typ LARGE und bei einem normalen Boden eine Fuge vom Typ FLEX. Hierbei sind verschiedene Farbtöne verfügbar. Für weitere Informationen wenden Sie sich bitte an uns. Die verfugte Fläche muss quadratmeterweise sorgfältig gereinigt werden, um das Produkt so gut wie möglich von den Platten zu entfernen. Hierzu kann der Installateur einen großen Schwamm und einen mit sauberem Wasser gefüllten Eimer verwenden. Die Fugen der Terrakotta-Platten dürfen nicht dicker als 8 bis 10 mm sein, um ein ästhetisches Gesamtbild zu erlangen. SCHRITT 5 : REINIGUNG DES BODENS UND BEHANDLUNG DER PLATTEN VOR DER EINRICHTUNG DER RÄUME Vor dem Einrichten der Räume muss der Boden einwandfrei gereinigt werden, vollständig trocknen und auf der gesamten Fläche behandelt worden sein. Um die Schlempe, ein häufig auftretendes Phänomen, von den Platten zu entfernen, müssen die Platten mit Hilfe des Produktes DECAPANT LAITANCE GILLAIZEAU dekapiert werden. Bei diesem Vorgang wird die gesamte Fläche kräftig gereinigt, um die feine weiße Schicht, die entweder auf den Kalk, aufsteigenden Kleber oder aufsteigende Fugen zurückgeführt werden kann, von den Platten zu entfernen. Danach muss der Boden vollständig trocknen. Im Anschluss daran müssen die beiden letzten Schichten des Produktes IMPERMEABLISANT GILLAIZEAU mit Hilfe eines Sprühverteilers auf die Platten aufgetragen werden. Die anschließende Trockenzeit beträgt 4 bis 6 Stunden (oder auch länger) zwischen den beiden Schichten, damit die Platten vollständig trocknen können. SCHRITT 6 : INSTANDHALTUNG Da es sich bei den Platten von GILLAIZEAU um ausgezeichnet hochwertige Produkte handelt, ist eine weitere Behandlung nicht unbedingt erforderlich. Dennoch empfehlen wir Ihnen die Verwendung von 2 Schutzwachsen, um Ihren Boden perfekt zu schützen. Das Wachs CIRE CARRELAGE verleiht dem Boden Schutz und ein mattes Aussehen, das Wachs CIRE METALISEE wiederum verleiht Ihrem Boden eine glänzende Oberfläche. Die Verwendung dieser Wachse wird automatisch für Küchen oder Wohnräume, in denen die Böden leicht verschmutzt werden können, empfohlen. Zur normalen Pflege und Reinigung des Bodens genügt es, die Platten regelmäßig mit einem Aufnehmer und lauwarmem, mit einem Leinöl-Putzmittel (z. B. CAROLIN) angereichertem Wasser zu putzen. Wir raten von der Verwendung von Schmierseife ab, da diese den Boden
