Ayodele Arigbabu studied Architecture at the University of Lagos, where he was the Librarian and then President of the Pen Circle, an association of young writers. He has been active as a poet, short story writer, playwright and screen writer for over fifteen years. Ayo has two short story collections published and has participated in several artistic workshops and exhibitions. Ayodele facilitated a workshop with young people at the House of World Cultures in Berlin in 2008 as a part of the 'Benzene' exhibition on fuel exchange systems by the duo of Constanze Fishbeck and Daniel Kotter. In July 2010, he was a participant at the Contact Theatre International Forum in Manchester where he facilitated a workshop on playmaking with other participants and was an assistant to the Director of the Film Expo at the 2010 Black Heritage Festival in Lagos. He has since collaborated with Constanze Fishbeck and Daniel Kotter again in their 2010 project tagged State足Theatre, in which he developed speculative fliers (which were exhibited in Cologne and Frankfurt) on the National Theatre Lagos in collaboration with Hunter and Gather. An alumni of the British Council / Pan African University 'Creative Lives' Creative Enterprise Programme, Ayo was an associate with the Lawson + Odeinde Partnership, a firm of architects in Lagos until 2008, and is the founding director of the Dream Arts & Design Agency (DADA足 a hybrid consultancy with interests in design, digital art, film and publishing) under which the DADA books publishing imprint was created in 2008. DADA books has since published the works of a growing list of award winning authors. Ayo is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Architects and of the Committee for Relevant Art 足 organizers of the annual Lagos Book and Art Festival (involved since 2003 in the production of the festival, currently serving as the festival director). He wrote weekly on Design and the Environment for The Guardian Life Magazine, publishes DesignPages足 a primer on design matters, and consults for a couple of arts based organizations.
