The environmental concerns that characterise our time call for multi-disciplinary strategies able to operate on the different issues born from the ever-moving wheal of urbanization, while controlling the impact of such actions in the long run: design can not only fulfil a punctual need, but also be part of an extended net of interventions that in space and time will determine the face of our future cities.

Now more than ever, Architecture and Urbanism, together with many other disciplines, appear to be different sources leading to a single project, a single vision for the future.

Starting from a research on the mentioned topics, the author elaborated a personal strategy for an area of Hongkou district in Shanghai that aims to introduce a new system born from the concept of Urban Forest which not only improves the vegetation rate of the area but introduces new construction forms, while proposing several strategies to also improve the general experience of the neighbourhood.
