NEW YEAR—NEW LUCK

Top Tips To Start The New Year

As 2020 came to a close and we welcomed in 2021, I did a number of things on December 31, 2020 and January 1, 2021 that helped me to achieve luck across this past year. I encourage all of our readers to embrace some or all of the activities I will perform again this New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. I believe they will set the tone for a productive and lucky year in 2022. Plus, they are a lot of fun!

Kiss at midnight (the love between you and your loved one continues all year).

Eat twelve grapes at midnight (brings you luck every month).

Fill your pantry (an empty pantry signals hardship for the new year).

Put cash in your wallet, don’t loan out any money on the 31st or the 1st, and don’t start the year with unpaid debts (you’re setting a precedent for money).

Don’t clean the house, including dishes and laundry (you don’t want to be sweeping/washing away the good luck).

Open the doors and windows just before midnight (let out the old year and bring in the new one).

Don’t cry on the 1st (sets a year of sadness in motion).

Eat collard greens and black-eyed peas (represents good luck and prosperity).

Don’t leave the house unless someone, preferably a male and someone who is lucky and positive, enters first (this brings luck into the home).

Don’t eat backwards moving crustaceans like lobster or shrimp (you don’t want to move backwards in the new year).

Make some noise at midnight inside by clapping your hands in each room (this scares bad spirits away).

Eat herring, pork, sauerkraut, and pig-shaped marzipan (all considered lucky).

Carry an empty suitcase (this sets you up for adventures in the new year).

Don’t eat chicken (your luck may fly away).

Have A Lucky Year! Alexandra
