"I did my research online for the practices in Arizona that offer varicose vein removal. I knew I wanted the EVLT treatment and wanted the procedure done by a Physician, not a cosmetic place. I narrowed it down to three Physicians and chose Dr. Sharma for his experience. I could not be more pleased with my experience at Arizona Vein & Laser Institute. Dr. Sharma is a wonderful physician. As he is performing the procedure, he explains what he is doing and is so concerned about making you feel comfortable. As for his staff, I cannot say enough good words. One thing I have learned in my lifetime is that your employees are only as good as you are. Dr. Sharma, you have a wonderful staff which says alot about you as an employer. I spent many office visits with them and every time they were pleasant, caring and professional. I was impressed by the way they worked as a team with Dr. Sharma. Thank you so much!" Joy A.

"I had called your office on a Monday morning to see if I could be fit in for an appointment as soon as possible because of a complication I had over the weekend. Being a new patient and never being seen at your office before it didn't matter because the woman who answered was not only kind, friendly and sypmathetic of my situation, but she was able to fit me in that very same afternoon. I have to say how incredibly impressed I was with the entire staff at this office but even more so with Dr. Sharma and Dr. Hecht. Their bedside manners are second to none. Thank you!" Scott Schrimp

Relief is right here in the West Valley Dr. Kukurin was named a Top Chiropractor by the Consumers Research Council of America. He is listed in Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare. With over 20 years of experience using acupuncture, chiropracticand science based nutritional therapies, the results produced by our methods have been featured on local TV newscasts, published in scientific journals, indexed in the National Library of Medicine and have been presented Knee Pain at medical conferences at Johns Hopkins and the Peripheral Nerve Society.
Diabetic Neuropathy, Peripheral Neuropathy Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis If you are suffering from lower back, buttocks and or leg pain or your feet or legs are cramping, numb or burning especially at night, you almost certainly have a condition which involves the nerves of the legs. The largest nerve in the body, the sciatic nerve (pictured in red to the right), starts in the lower back, runs through the muscles of the buttocks and down to the tip of the toes. If this nerve gets irritated, you can experience really terrible pain anywhere along the course of the nerve. You may also experience burning, numbness and odd sensations in your muscles. Irritation of this nerve may produce severe cramping or crawling sensations in your muscles. Of course, your back and leg pain can be caused by a pinched nerve in your lower back. This can be from a vertebra that is out of place, it can be caused by a slipped disc or it can be caused by spinal stenosis or any combination of these problems. Each of these conditions, bad discs, spinal stenosis or displaced vertebrae have very different treatments. Knowing exactly why you have your back and leg troubles is absolutely essential for effective care.
Headaches, Vertigo, TMJ, Migraines, Sinus Headache Neck and Shoulder Pain, Pinched Nerves, Tennis Elbow and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Spinal Stenosis, Sciatica, Lower Back, Hip and Leg Pain
So how do you find results? The answer is called Integrative Neurology. Neurology is the study of the nerves. This allows us to diagnose tough nerve conditions like spinal stenosis, disc problems and neuropathy. What happens next truly separates our integrative neurology approach from anything else available to help correct lower back, hip, leg and foot problems. We have pioneered techniques to decompress nerves, but also use a number of natural substances that have been shown in recent scientific studies to help nerves re-grow and repair. There are no current drugs that can do this. But that’s not all. We combine special electrical stimulation techniques with acupuncture. A combination that has been shown to correct abnormal nerve function and promote nerve repair. There simply is no better or more comprehensive system for diagnosing and correcting the cause of spinal stenosis, neuropathy and other conditions that cause lower back, hip and leg pain and numbness. To find out how we can help you or learn more about our award winning doctor and treatments, visit our website at www.kcpv.info or if you need help now, call us at 623-547-4727. “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30 Welcome to our May issue This month women worldwide will be celebrated for their roles in many lives. Many passages in the ible reveal the role that God designed for women. These passages reveal many virtues of a woman committed to building a Godly legacy for her family. ere are a few ible verses to encourage you to fulfill God s will.
p Children, obey your parents in the ord, for this is right. onor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.
A gracious woman retaineth honour and strong men retain riches. The wise woman builds her house, ut the foolish pulls it down with her hands.
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array ut which becometh women professing godliness with good works.
Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, ut a woman who fears the ord, she shall be praised.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household for all her household are clothed with scarlet. r o er She openeth her mouth with wisdom and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
lessed is every one that feareth the ord that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren, pp Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
nowing that of the ord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance for ye serve the ord Christ.
Strength and honour are her clothing and she shall rejoice in time to come. ut seek first the kingdom of God and is righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

In 0 , Virginia Senior and athaniel . urns met at a food festival and bonded over their love of vegan cuisine and passion for building up the local community. Senior was already the owner of Urban eans in central Phoenix, which had been open since 00 . Soon after meeting though, urns joined her team and the two became coowners of the -hour cafe, bar and catering business that, today, is known for exclusively serving its plantbased vegan dishes. Urban eans has always continued to evolve with the times, Senior says. We ve always been communitybased, always respectful and responsible about resources and always made an effort to source from local vendors. In 0 3, we went meatless with all of our dishes and in anuary 0 all of our dishes became 00 percent plantbased. In their dishes such as their popular eneficial enedict the team uses a variety of meatless substitutes. You can still get protein and create beautiful, delicious food from plants, Senior says. Plants offer a spectacular array of flavors and textures. urns says the overall goal is to make vegan food affordable and approachable. Their offerings include everything from
coffee-based cafe drinks to popular baked goods to hot dishes like their bakes similar to cal ones . On the weekends, they offer brunch. Senior adds that the best compliment they can receive, especially on their baked goods, is that the dishes are delicious not just delicious for being vegan food. Vegan food is not subtractive, it s attractive, urns says. Our dishes allow many customers to explore new things. In my opinion, you can get everything you need from plants. In fact, many famous athletes are turning into an all plant-based diet. In addition, Urban eans provides free Wi-Fi to customers, is a mini art gallery featuring local artists work, and even offers vegan dog food, among other unique facts. A customer can come in to work, or come in to order vegan lasagna to go. urns emphasi es that the space is not only a cafe, but offers a dog-friendly patio and is a -hour vegan market with fresh food. From time-to-time, Urban eans also hosts community events. If you look around Urban eans , there are not a lot of logos we want to create a safe space for your head, urns says. Senior describes both herself and urns as long-time entrepreneurs who are interested in good ideas that benefit the community and focus on design and the creative arts. With this in mind, Urban eans also offers a space next to

organi ations, SA C, Girls ock Phoenix, veterans causes, one n ten, Aimee s Farm Animal Sanctuary, and others. urns notes that Urban eans also does specialty cooking events and has offered classes to the community as well.
We want to make the community a better place with the business that we do, urns explains. In fact, going 00 percent vegan is part of that it helps us to focus on reducing waste and achieving more sustainability.
We re all about producing good food and running a business that is conscious and kind to the community, Senior says. We want to be of service and make Phoenix a better place to eat, live and work with everything that we do, urns adds.
Over the years, Urban eans has taken their community focus to heart and have supported a variety of local nonprofits, including Waste OT, Free Arts of Ari ona, cancer support

ea u to o er o esti vio en e servi es It s been quite a year to say the least for both ewish Family Children s Service FCS and Sojourner Center. In uly 0 , it was announced that FCS, one of Ari ona s largest providers of behavioral health and social services, had named Sojourner Center its affiliated subsidiary. FCS and Sojourner Center share a combined 0-year history of providing services to Ari onans in need. Their main connection Addressing the needs of individuals who have been affected in some way by domestic violence. Sojourner Center had been a long-time partner of ewish Family Children s Service. The two organi ations share significant synergies in both our missions and our programs. This alignment of our two organi ations is a natural fit, says Dr. orrie enderson, president and C O of FCS. Together, the two nonprofits will assist nearly ,000 people in the Greater Phoenix area in the coming year. Sojourner Center, established in , provides shelter and support to nearly 0,000 individuals in the community each year with more than ,000 individuals in residence in one of its two shelters a crisis shelter and a transitional emergency complex. Sojourner Center s crisis shelter provides immediate emergency shelter services to individuals for up to 0 days. From there, or once they have achieved a certain amount of stability, residents are welcome to stay in one of 3 transitional living apartments for up to two years. We are so excited to be relaunching our transitional shelter program this year, say Carrie orgen, executive director for
Sojourner Center and chief operating officer at FCS. The incredible thing about this program is that it allows individuals and families the time necessary to get back on their feet. We help with this by also providing them with job readiness services, education assistance, life skills support and classes all aimed towards helping them secure independence outside of Sojourner Center. In addition to their housing support, Sojourner Center is also home to a Pet Companion Shelter that allows for victims of domestic violence to bring their family pet with them. Targeting individuals affected by domestic violence who are identified as falling through the cracks is the focus of FCS Shelter Without Walls program. FCS has addressed these unmet needs of victims residing outside of a shelter and struggling to attain or maintain safety and independence since . When we first began Shelter Without Walls 0 years ago, our goal then as it is now is to assess the needs of those individuals who are still living with their abusive partner, may not be in need of shelter or are unable to go into a shelter, or who have exited a shelter after the time allotted, which is typically 30 to 0 days, explains inda Scott, vice president of Child Family Solutions at FCS. We will work with someone for as long as it takes for them to attain and maintain safe self-sufficiency.

FCS Shelter Without Walls program provides individuals with a step-by-step plan to reach safety and independence. The program also provides housing locators, legal lay advocacy services, crime victim information and referrals, shelter referrals if needed, domestic violence education, group and individual counseling and a mentorship program. ast year, the Shelter Without Walls program served nearly ,000 adults and children through their comprehensive programming, support groups, domestic violence classes and phone calls.
In addition to its Shelter Without Walls program, FCS also offers a number of other services Child welfare services Counseling and behavioral health Substance abuse counseling and recovery eal World ob Development program for teens Transition to Adulthood program for teens Integrated healthcare Medical primary care Older adult programming ewish community services
Since Sojourner Center has become an affiliated subsidiary of FCS, we are now able to offer a full continuum of services to victims and survivors or domestic violence in Maricopa County, says Scott. eing able to engage at that level with a sister program has been very rewarding and will only extend the impact that each of us has within our community.

Asthma affects millions of people across the globe. While some asthma attacks, which can occur at any time, may end quickly, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America notes that more severe attacks can last hours or days. Coughing, whee ing, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, and tightness in the chest are some common symptoms of asthma attacks, which can be triggered by a number of allergens.
Dust mites are so tiny that they re invisible to the naked eye. ut just because you can t see them does not mean they re not there. Sometimes as small as one-quarter of a millimeter, dust mites thrive in environments where temperatures are between F and F, such as homes. Dust mites feed on tiny flakes of skin that humans shed each day, so they tend to make their homes in the inner layers of furniture, carpets and bedding. ven stuffed children s toys might make great homes for dust mites. Asthma sufferers whose attacks have been linked to dust mites can cover their mattresses and pillows in dustproof covers, wash their sheets and blankets in hot water and utili e PA filter vacuum cleaners to keep mites and mite waste from reentering the air after a cleaning.
According to the AAFA, cockroach allergies are common asthma triggers. In fact, the AAFA notes that studies have indicated children who are allergic to cockroaches must visit the hospital for asthma more frequently than other children who do not have asthma. Cockroaches need food, water and shelter to survive, so people whose asthma attacks are being triggered by cockroach allergies can cover their trash cans tightly, store their food in airtight containers, clean all of their dirty dishes immediately after use, and promptly sweep up any food or crumbs that accumulate on their counters, tabletops, stoves and floors. ay 2018

Molds live everywhere and upsetting a mold source may send mold spores into the air, potentially triggering asthma attacks. While allergic reactions from mold spores can occur at any time of the year, the AAFA notes that allergic symptoms from fungi like mold are most common between uly and early fall. Mold spores that get into the lungs can trigger asthma attacks. Some reactions may occur immediately after the spores reach the lungs, while others may be delayed, resulting in asthma symptoms like nasal congestion gradually worsening over time. educing exposure to mold spores both inside and outside can prevent allergic reactions. imit outdoor activities when mold counts are high and wear a mask when tending to lawns and gardens. elying on central air conditioning equipped with PA filter attachments and lowering indoor humidity are two ways to reduce exposure to mold when indoors.

Arthritis affects hundreds of millions of people across the globe. The Arthritis Foundation notes that more than 0 million adults in the United States have some type of arthritis, while the uropean eague Against heumatism estimates that rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis affect more than 0 million people in the uropean Union. In Canada, the Canadian Community ealth Survey found that percent of Canadians age and older were affected by arthritis. The Arthritis Foundation notes that arthritis is not a single disease. In fact, the word arthritis is something of an umbrella term and an informal way of referring to joint pain or joint disease. While these conditions may produce some common symptoms, such as swelling, pain and stiffness, learning to distinguish between some common types of arthritis can help men and women manage their conditions more effectively.
Osteoarthritis, which is sometimes referred to as degenerative joint disease or OA, is the most common chronic condition of the joints. The symptoms of OA vary depending on the joints that are affected, but pain and stiffness, especially first thing in the morning or after resting, are common. OA can affect the hips, knees, fingers or feet, and those with OA may feel limited range of motion in their affected areas. Some with OA may hear clicking or cracking sounds when the affected joints bend, and pain associated with OA may be more intense after activity or toward the end of the day.
Inflammatory arthritis occurs when the immune system, which can employ inflammation to fight infection and prevent disease, mistakenly attacks the joints with uncontrolled inflammation. Such a mistake can contribute to joint erosion and even organ damage. Psoriatic arthritis, which the Arthritis Foundation notes affects roughly 30 percent of people with psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis are two examples of inflammatory arthritis. Genetics and environmental factors, such as smoking, may trigger instances of inflammatory arthritis.
acterium, a virus or a fungus that enters the joint may trigger inflammation and lead to infection arthritis. The Arthritis Foundation notes that the most common bacteria to cause infection arthritis is staphylococcus aureus, or staph. The majority of infectious arthritis cases occur after an infection somewhere else in the body travels through the bloodstream to the joint, though some infections may enter the joint directly through a puncture wound near the joint or during surgery near the joint. Intense swelling and pain, typically in a single joint, are the most common symptoms of infectious arthritis, which is most likely to affect the knee, though it can affect the hips, ankles and wrists. Some people with infection arthritis may also experience fever and chills.
The body produces uric acid to break down purines, a substance found in many foods and in human cells. ut some people produce more uric acid than they need, which they then struggle to get rid of quickly. As a result, uric acid can build up. The Arthritis Foundation notes that this buildup can lead to the formation of needle-like crystals in the joints that cause sudden spikes of extreme pain. Arthritis can affect people of any age, race or gender. More information about the various types of arthritis is available at www.arthritis.org. a hea thand i ing com

These days, it feels like everything is a race A race to get all the boxes on your to-do list checked off. A race to make it to the next rung of the professional ladder. A race to keep up with and perhaps even beat out the oneses. A race to make sure your kids have the perfect academic, extracurricular, and personal qualifications so that they can get into a good college. A race to make sure all the bills get paid, even though you re on a reduced budget. owever, instead of building the perfect lives we want, what we re really doing is racing each other into the ground and over the edge. If this last description of manic modern life sounds all too familiar, it s high time you stepped off the merrygo-round, sat down in a quiet place, and participated in a simple practice that has been around for millennia meditation. If you re intrigued but still not entirely sure that meditation is for you, then read on for more reasons why this ancient practice can help you live your best, most healthy and fulfilling life Improving your mental and physical health. If you re a skeptic at heart, then you ll be reassured to know that studies have proven that meditation offers numerous benefits, including ower blood pressure uicker recovery from stress Fewer heart attacks and strokes educed cholesterol levels Muscle relaxation eduction in the intensity of pain More happiness and peace of mind More loving, harmonious relationships nhanced creativity and self-actuali ation eductions in both acute and chronic anxiety and much more
p When you rush breathlessly from one moment to the next, anticipating another problem or anticipating a coming pleasure, you miss the beauty and immediacy of the present, which is constantly enfolding before your eyes. Meditation teaches you to slow down and take each moment as it comes the sounds of traffic, the smell of new clothes, the laughter of children, the coming and going of your breath. In fact, as the meditative tradition reminds us, only the present moment exists anyway the past is just a memory and the future is a fantasy. When you re constantly trying to live up to expectations your own or someone else s and adapt to an ever-changing, competitive environment, you
rarely have the opportunity or the motivation to get to know yourself just the way you are. ut when you meditate, you learn to welcome every experience and facet of your being without judgment or denial. You begin to treat yourself as you would a close friend, accepting and even loving the whole package.
p As you awaken to the present moment and open your heart and mind to your own experience, you naturally extend this quality of awareness and presence to your family and friends. And when you start to accept others the way they are a skill you can cultivate through the practice of meditation you open up the channels for a deeper love and intimacy to flow between you. As the mind settles, relaxes and opens during meditation, so does the body and the longer you meditate, the more this peace and relaxation ripples out to every area of your life, including your health.
p ave you ever been so fully involved in an activity that all sense of self-consciousness, time and distraction dissolved If so, you ve experienced what psychologist Mihaly Csiks entmihalyi calls a state of flow. Parents to preteen and teenage daughters may have many things on their minds as their children grow older. Young women entering puberty are entering periods marked by unique physical changes, and families may find themselves facing the topic of menstruation and family life before they know it. The Canadian Women s ealth etwork notes that research indicates a gradual decline in the average age of puberty onset in orth American women, with menstruation occurring earlier and earlier. This may be attributed to decreased rates of disease and increased nutrition. Sandra Steingraber, a medical researcher who has done groundbreaking work on the links between environmental health contaminants and cancer, says puberty also may be tied to environmental changes, namely exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Puberty-related physical changes may now occur in girls as young as eight or nine. ObGyn.net says that the average age for menarche, or first menstruation, in the United States is age . Among Canadian female respondents aged to in the ational ongitudinal Survey of Children Youth, the mean age at menarche was . years. Parents and young women between the ages of 0 and should reali e that menarche and menstruation in general is a critical mark in the reproductive life of females and should prepare for its arrival. Menstruation is part of a cycle of reproduction that occurs when the uterine lining of blood and tissue leaves the body because it is not needed to cushion a fertili ed egg. A menstrual period generally can last between two and seven days, during an average amount of two tablespoons of blood is shed. An entire menstrual cycle for girls and teens ranges from to days, offers ids ealth. ach female is different, but menstruation generally occurs within two to four years of other signs of puberty, such as breast budding and growth of underarm and pubic ay 2018

hair. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that teenagers schedule a first gynecologic visit between the ages of 3 and , particularly if menstruation has started. A gynecologist can be a good sounding board for questions regarding what is normal, what to expect in years to come and general health concerning the female reproductive system and body - including breast health. A gynecologist will also spell out the ideal times for certain testing, which can include pelvic exams, external genital exams and Pap tests. Menstruation can be an exciting, yet confusing time in a young woman s life. Since many young women now experience menstruation earlier than their mothers may have, families may want to discuss puberty with their daughters sooner than they might have initially planned.

Sports bras with soft lining are a godsend, after all, who wants chafing Ouch p The clothes you choose for a high-intensity boot camp session are going to be very different to the ones you choose for a chilled-out yoga class. For the gym, road runs and IIT, clothes made from robust materials such as ycra are your best bet ideally shorts leggings and short-sleeved ay 2018

tops or vests. For a gentler session like yoga or Pilates, you ll want loose t-shirts with tracksuit bottoms or yoga pants.
A true gymgoer has a trainer collection to be jealous of. If this isn t you yet, it s never too late The options for trainers are endless, with so many different styles and shapes to choose from. When it comes to running or performance trainers, the look isn t actually that important. Make sure you choose a pair that suit your activity level and have the amount of support you need. Strength training should be an important part of women s workout regimens. Despite this, the ational Center for ealth Statistics says only about 0 percent of women lift weights. Poor advice may be to blame. Women often fall victim to false information circulating about lifting weights. y getting educated, women can do much to improve their workouts. One of the more widely circulated myths regarding women and weightlifting is that women who lift heavy weights will get bulky. According to the exercise resource erd Fitness, when any person picks up progressively heavier weights as he or she gets acclimated to lifting that individual will get stronger, but not necessarily bigger. People who bulk up eat and train specifically for that purpose. In addition, women simply do not have the amount of testosterone necessary to bulk up without taking added measures designed to add bulk. ID A ealth and Fitness etwork says strength training will help the average woman lose more fat than she ll gain in muscle. One who trains two to three times a week for two months can gain roughly pounds of muscle but will lose 3. pounds of fat. Women who want to lose weight may employ strength training to reach their goals. Strength training also can help decrease one s risk of osteoporosis, strengthen bones, improve posture and reduce back pain. Weight training strengthens the muscles and bones that support the body. Women should be open to the idea of lifting weights as part of a balanced workout regimen. azhealthandliving.com |

They amplify the hearing that you have. If an individual has a significant high frequency hearing loss but can still hear sounds at the normal level in the low frequencies, there are no hearing devices out there that will be able to block out the noise someone naturally hears. If an individual has more hearing loss in the low frequencies and use an earmold, they are more likely to notice the noise reduction occurring in the hearing device, however, it still will not block out all the noise. Technology level and the brand of hearing devices will determine the amount of noise reduction available. If someone purchases a lower level of technology, they will not have as much noise reduction to help in loud environments. earing aids with higher technology do a much better job at filtering speech out of background noise. With newer hearing technology connecting to smart phones, apps are available to change the direction of the microphones, so individuals can force the direction to be toward the person they want to hear. One way to reduce the chance of bruising is to use the Accuvein, which allows a physician to view the vessels in the treatment area. Also, the use of a microcannula is a primary way to significantly reduce the chance of bruising. Microcannulas are blunt-tip needles threaded through an injection site. ecause they are not sharp, this eliminates the perforation of veins with a sharp tip. Thus drastically reducing the risk of bruising. Many use this advanced injection method almost exclusively. ot only for the reduction in bruising, but for the patient s safety and comfort. It reduces the number of needle sticks, therefore minimi ing needle injection pain. Their blunt tips also reduce risks such as vessel occlusion. What you can do as a patient to reduce the risk of bruising is to avoid blood thinners for a week before your appointment. lood thinners can cause you to bruise more easily and cause them to last longer. lood thinners include Aspirin, Ibuprofen Tylenol is fine , fish oil and Vitamin supplements. Also try to avoid alcohol as it thins the blood as well. In the rare event you get a bruise, a topical vitamin cream, such as Auriderm, can considerably speed up healing time, and there are laser treatments that can ap your bruises away as early as the next day.

o matter how wonderful your service or product is, if you don t advertise, nobody will know. The goal of advertising should be to cost effectively reach the largest audience possible to attract new patients customers. If done correctly, advertising can be a wonderful investment if done poorly, advertising can become financially draining.
ere are four tips to start a successful advertising plan . Go after your target audience; in t e right places! o product or service will appeal to everyone. Do research to understand who your audience is and determine what they read, watch and listen to. Find your market and be everything you can be to that audience. 2. Highlight your competitive advantage what makes you unique? Find your competitive edge. Too many ads highlight all the features and services and fail to sell their specific benefits. Unless you highlight these benefits, how can you deliver value to potential patients customers
3. Establish your image. You have a car full of hungry kids and there are only two places to stop for lunch you recogni e the McDonald s arches but you have never heard of the other place. Where will you stop Image counts don t lose a chance to make an impression. 4. You have to spend money to make money. Advertising is not the place to cut corners. Doing so affects the bottom line. Successful advertising may cost some money, but that is because it works.

ive Ways to Know When You’re Done with What You’re Doing The curse for many modern-day movers and shakers is that they never seem to have enough time to do everything that needs doing. There simply are not enough hours in the workday, or even the workweek, to accomplish everything on their to-do lists. Worse yet, once on a productivity roll, there always seems to be a distraction waiting to throw you off course. The reality is that you could actually accomplish a lot more each day if you just learn to recogni e and acknowledge when you are done with what you are doing. One of the biggest time wasters is spending too much time on those things that do not require it. In doing so, time is lost that should be spent on more difficult or time-intensive tasks. When you learn to recogni e when you are done with a task, you will have valuable minutes and maybe even hours added back into your day.
Stop majoring in the minors. Many people spend a lot of time on projects and tasks that are easy. Then, they convince themselves that they just did not have enough time to get to the harder tasks. efore you start your workday, think about your high and low leverage activities. For the low leverage activities, force yourself to move through them as quickly as possible. With these tasks, perfection is not necessary.
Make a conscious effort to keep emails short and sweet. Get to the point quickly and use action verbs in subject lines so that both you and the recipient know what needs to happen before the email is even opened.
Set an hour for a meeting and you are sure to go the full hour. Pay close attention to how much of your meeting is actually spent focused on the important things. If you spend to 0 minutes at the beginning or end of the meeting discussing your co-worker s golf game, then next time reduce the amount of time allotted. ay 2018

It is very easy to be distracted or sidetracked by things you think you, or others, should do. aving a self-imposed deadline will help you ignore those distractions.
p Sometimes knowing when you are done is knowing when you, specifically, cannot take a project any further. You simply might not have the right expertise to completely finish a certain project, and that is O . Wasting time is uch worse than asking for help When you put in place steps to help you know when you are done, you will be surprised, and pleased, with how much you can get done. It will free up time that you can use to focus on areas where it is really needed. As a result, you will have a more gratifying workday and be happier overall.

A pool can provide a welcome respite from the heat and humidity. Taking a daily dip in a pool is great cardiovascular exercise and can help relieve stress. The chemicals used to keep pool water fresh and clean may wreak havoc on hair and skin, however. Chlorine is one of the most widely used substances for water purification. It is often added to public water supplies to kill off pathogens that have the potential to cause illness. Variations of chlorine are used in pool filtration to ensure the water is clean and safe for swimming. Chlorine reduces bacteria and other contaminants and may also help keep algae growth under control. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that chlorine kills bacteria such as . coli in about a minute if it is maintained at proper disinfection levels to 3 parts per million ppm free chlorine and under ideal water conditions p at . or less temperature at F C or more throughout the pool. owever, a few germs are moderately Giardia and epatitis A to highly Cryptosporidium chlorine-tolerant. Although chlorine is very good at purifying the water people drink and bathe in, too much of a good thing can prove troublesome. Oftentimes, chlorine -- especially in high amounts can affect the hair and skin of people who regularly use pools.
Chlorinated water that is also high in copper may form a chemical reaction that turns hair green. The chlorine reacts with the copper to form a compound that is green in hue. This can attach to the porous hair shaft and give hair a green tinge. The green is especially obvious in light-colored hair. Chlorine is harsh and caustic, while hair is porous. Dry hair that becomes saturated with chlorine-treated water can eventually have salt crystals locked inside, which leads to breakage. Washing hair directly after swimming may help rinse off external chlorine, but it will not adequately remove chlorine locked inside follicles. air may need to be soaked for several minutes in fresh water. air that is prone to dryness may become drier from chlorine. Swimmers can wear a waterproof swimming cap to prevent against chlorine damage. If this option isn t available, soaking ay 2018

hair in fresh water to saturate hair shafts and then applying a barrier, such as conditioner combed through the hair, can help repel some of the chlorinated water and protect against damage. air that has turned green from pool water may need to be treated with special shampoos or strippers to remove the chlorine-copper compounds. Cutting off the green areas may be an easier solution.
Chlorine is caustic, and high concentrations can burn the skin. Individuals with sensitive skin may be even more susceptible to rashes and burns from chlorinated pools. To prevent skin irritation, keep chlorine levels in pool water as low as possible. Applying a waterproof sunscreen or lotion to the skin before swimming may also serve as an additional line of defense. There are commercially made products that are designed specifically for application before getting in the pool. ecause they are waterproof, they will not wash off in the pool or foul up water. Public pools with a high volume of swimmers tend to have more chlorine in them than backyard pools at private residences. This is evidenced by the strong and often overwhelming aroma of chlorine in the vicinity of the public pool. The effects of chlorine can be seen by the bleaching and wearing away of rope barriers and floats that are constantly in the pool. If this is what is occurring to plastic and vinyl, imagine what is being done to skin and hair. Covering up as much as possible can help protect the skin from the harmful effects of chlorine.

yes may be windows into a person s soul, but the eyebrows frame the eyes, help express feelings and add shape to the face. yebrows also can be subtle indicators of a person s health. Caring for eyebrows is a part of any woman s beauty and health regimen. According to the television personality Dr. Mehmet O , the shape and look of eyebrows can determine a lot about someone s health. For example, Dr. O says that thinning eyebrows can be an indication of a nutrient deficiency. Thinning also may be a natural side effect of aging since eyebrows grow more slowly than other body hair. Women who are missing the outer portion of their eyebrow not due to overplucking - may find that thyroid issues are to blame, according to the health editors at Good ou e eepin . If eyebrows remain thin after dietary changes and more moderate grooming habits have been tried, women should consult with their physicians. There is a stronger connection between oral health and overall health than many people reali e. A dental visit involves a comprehensive checkup that extends beyond teeth, allowing dentists to screen for oral cancer, diabetes and spot symptoms of more than 0 other diseases. Taking care of your teeth and gums not only helps maintain a healthy mouth, it helps maintain a healthy body especially as we get older. ven seniors with dentures or tooth implants should continue to visit the dentist for regular cleanings and consultations to help detect potential problems early and in some cases before they even start. Cavities, dry mouth and gum disease are some of the most common oral health problems we face as we age. For many seniors, these oral health issues become more serious when arthritis or other mobility problems leave them unable to clean their teeth and mouths as effectively as they once did. ere is a breakdown of the three most common oral health problems that worsen with age and how to avoid them to maintain strong overall health
Though cavities may be associated with children and candy, tooth decay is a very common chronic disease in people years and older. The risk for tooth decay increases as root surfaces become exposed and dry mouth takes away the protective benefits of saliva. Older adults tend to stop visiting the dentist as often as they used to, so cavities sometimes go untreated for longer. eeping regular dentist appointments is the key to getting cavities treated in a timely manner.
Many seniors are on multiple medications for a variety of chronic illnesses or conditions. A surprising number of these medications cause dry mouth, even simple ones such as decongestants. Dry mouth is more than just a minor inconvenience as its name indicates, the condition deprives the mouth of saliva, which plays a critical role in preventing tooth decay. To help counter ay 2018 | a hea thand i ing com
this, it is important to stay hydrated and limit the intake of caffeine and alcohol which are known to cause dehydration.
Gum disease affects people of all ages, but it typically becomes worse with increased age. Proper brushing and flossing can prevent this. Seniors having trouble gripping a standard toothbrush can ask their dentist about modifying a handle for easier use or may consider a battery-powered toothbrush. Seniors concerned about their oral health should maintain the same good habits they always have or perhaps start implementing some of these rush teeth twice a day Floss daily Avoid tobacco at a healthy diet with minimal snacking on carbohydrates Avoid sweets and sugary beverages eep regular appointments with the dentist The more good oral health habits you use on a daily basis, the longer your teeth will last.

Men and women may begin to feel less flexible as they get older. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, that loss of flexibility is because muscles lose both strength and elasticity as the body ages. A lack of flexibility can make men and women more vulnerable to certain types of injuries, including muscle strains and tears. While people might not be able to maintain the flexibility they enjoyed in their twenties, there are ways for them to combat age-related loss of flexibility.
Stretching is a great way to combat age-related loss of flexibility. Stretch major muscle groups, such as hamstrings and shoulder muscles, several times per week. When practicing static stretching, the goal is to gradually elongate the muscle being stretched before holding the elongated position, and ultimately allowing the muscle to return to resting position. As flexibility improves, elongated stretches can be held for 30 seconds. Avoid stretching muscles that are sore or injured, and discontinue a stretch if you feel pain or discomfort.
Practitioners of yoga typically love how this unique discipline that exercises the body while relaxing the mind improves their flexibility. Many yoga poses are designed to improve the strength and flexibility of muscles, and some physicians may even recommend yoga to aging patients. Yoga DVDs or streaming sessions can be great, but beginners may want to visit yoga studios or sign up for classes at their gyms so instructors can personally ensure they are doing each pose correctly. As their flexibility improves, men and women can try more difficult poses and classes if they so desire.
p Swimming is another activity that can help aging men and women improve their flexibility. Strength-training exercises are an important component of a wellbalanced exercise regimen, but such workouts tend to focus on one or two muscle groups at a time. That means other muscle groups may be inactive and tighten up as a result. Swimming works the entire body, which helps all muscle groups stay loose and flexible. One or two swimming sessions per week can contribute to great gains in overall flexibility, especially for men and women who remember to stretch when they get out of the pool. Flexibility may decrease as men and women age, but there are various ways to combat the natural loss of flexibility. a hea thand i ing com |
