"I did my research online for the practices in Arizona that offer varicose vein removal. I knew I wanted the EVLT treatment and wanted the procedure done by a Physician, not a cosmetic place. I narrowed it down to three Physicians and chose Dr. Sharma for his experience. I could not be more pleased with my experience at Arizona Vein & Laser Institute. Dr. Sharma is a wonderful physician. As he is performing the procedure, he explains what he is doing and is so concerned about making you feel comfortable. As for his staff, I cannot say enough good words. One thing I have learned in my lifetime is that your employees are only as good as you are. Dr. Sharma, you have a wonderful staff which says alot about you as an employer. I spent many office visits with them and every time they were pleasant, caring and professional. I was impressed by the way they worked as a team with Dr. Sharma. Thank you so much!" Joy A.

"I had called your office on a Monday morning to see if I could be fit in for an appointment as soon as possible because of a complication I had over the weekend. Being a new patient and never being seen at your office before it didn't matter because the woman who answered was not only kind, friendly and sypmathetic of my situation, but she was able to fit me in that very same afternoon. I have to say how incredibly impressed I was with the entire staff at this office but even more so with Dr. Sharma and Dr. Hecht. Their bedside manners are second to none. Thank you!" Scott Schrimp

Relief is right here in the West Valley Dr. Kukurin was named a Top Chiropractor by the Consumers Research Council of America. He is listed in Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare. With over 20 years of experience using acupuncture, chiropracticand science based nutritional therapies, the results produced by our methods have been featured on local TV newscasts, published in scientific journals, indexed in the National Library of Medicine and have been presented Knee Pain at medical conferences at Johns Hopkins and the Peripheral Nerve Society.
Diabetic Neuropathy, Peripheral Neuropathy Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis If you are suffering from lower back, buttocks and or leg pain or your feet or legs are cramping, numb or burning especially at night, you almost certainly have a condition which involves the nerves of the legs. The largest nerve in the body, the sciatic nerve (pictured in red to the right), starts in the lower back, runs through the muscles of the buttocks and down to the tip of the toes. If this nerve gets irritated, you can experience really terrible pain anywhere along the course of the nerve. You may also experience burning, numbness and odd sensations in your muscles. Irritation of this nerve may produce severe cramping or crawling sensations in your muscles. Of course, your back and leg pain can be caused by a pinched nerve in your lower back. This can be from a vertebra that is out of place, it can be caused by a slipped disc or it can be caused by spinal stenosis or any combination of these problems. Each of these conditions, bad discs, spinal stenosis or displaced vertebrae have very different treatments. Knowing exactly why you have your back and leg troubles is absolutely essential for effective care.
Headaches, Vertigo, TMJ, Migraines, Sinus Headache Neck and Shoulder Pain, Pinched Nerves, Tennis Elbow and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Spinal Stenosis, Sciatica, Lower Back, Hip and Leg Pain
So how do you find results? The answer is called Integrative Neurology. Neurology is the study of the nerves. This allows us to diagnose tough nerve conditions like spinal stenosis, disc problems and neuropathy. What happens next truly separates our integrative neurology approach from anything else available to help correct lower back, hip, leg and foot problems. We have pioneered techniques to decompress nerves, but also use a number of natural substances that have been shown in recent scientific studies to help nerves re-grow and repair. There are no current drugs that can do this. But that’s not all. We combine special electrical stimulation techniques with acupuncture. A combination that has been shown to correct abnormal nerve function and promote nerve repair. There simply is no better or more comprehensive system for diagnosing and correcting the cause of spinal stenosis, neuropathy and other conditions that cause lower back, hip and leg pain and numbness. Welcome to our une issue This month men worldwide will be celebrated for their roles in many lives. Many passages in the Bible reveal the role that God designed for men. These passages reveal many virtues of a man committed to building a Godly legacy for his family. ere are a few Bible verses to encourage you to fulfill God s will.
Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. et all your things be done with charity.
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the ord and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season his leaf also shall not wither and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the ord knoweth the way of the righteous but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Blessed art thou, ord teach me thy statutes. With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. I will delight myself in thy statutes I will not forget thy word.
s t
e hath shewed thee, man, what is good and what doth the ord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God
Praise ye the ord. Blessed is the man that feareth the ord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. is seed shall be mighty upon earth the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house and his righteousness endureth for ever. Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth he will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he shall not be moved for ever the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. e shall not be afraid of evil tidings his heart is fixed, trusting in the ord. is heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. e hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor his righteousness endureth for ever his horn shall be exalted with honour. The wicked shall see it, and be grieved he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away the desire of the wicked shall perish.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the ord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

p p Chef W Rieth grew up with an aunt who had special needs. e learned from an early age that people with disabilities are just like everyone else. They have dreams, desires and aspirations for the future, but they just have more obstacles to overcome. In 2012, Chef W started teaching cooking classes to children with autism. e loved interacting with them and dreamt of opening a restaurant where he could create an integrated work environment for those with developmental disabilities. Thanks to Pam ePalma, athy Rieth and ori Cairns, partners and owners in Not our Typical N T eli, that dream became a reality in 2015. The full service delicatessen and bakery showcases local products and services, while providing guests with a unique dining and shopping experience. The deli was founded by Chef W and was created to make a difference, not only by serving incredible food, but by integrating the work force. The unemployment rate for adults with autism spectrum disorder in Arizona is nearly 90 percent, says Chef W. We wanted to create a place where they could get comprehensive training that would qualify them to work in the restaurant industry. ur model is working incredibly well and now other local businesses such as Bergies Coffee Roast ouse, ne More Bite Bakery, and the Town of Gilbert are joining us in the movement to bring equality to the workplace. Since opening, N T eli has received several awards from national and local media outlets. Cordell Sherwood, a 21 year old with autism, is the deli's first employee. Prior to N T, he applied at more than 25 alley businesses and couldn t find employment due to his development disabilities.
Pictured above Cordell Sherwood
e s one of my best employees, says Chef W. Individuals with autism thrive with consistency and repetition and that s what makes a restaurant successful. ou want your guest s experience to be the same each time they come in and Cordell s customer service and attention to detail is second to none. ver the last two years, Cordell s self-confidence and ability to interact with people has improved significantly that combined with his incredible work ethic, has earned him a promotion to front of the house manager. Working at N T has allowed Cordell to move out of his parents home and live independently for the first time. Throughout my life, I constantly had to push myself to exceed the limits of what I could do, because no one was going to do it for me. Not our Typical eli gave me the platform in which I can be myself and spread my story through my actions, says Sherwood.

o a a t or rea t e wor a o t C Author and activist Gail Rae-Garwood didn t know anything about chronic kidney disease C until she was personally given the diagnosis. Since that time, she has become a passionate advocate, spreading the word about a common disease that affects millions. She also helps to raise awareness about this silent potential killer through her published books. Rae-Garwood earned a bachelor s degree in English and master s degree in communications from unter College of the City University of New ork. She was an actress for more than 0 years and a high school and college teacher, until she moved to Arizona in 2002 and then strictly taught college. In 200 , she received unexpected news. Although Rae-Garwood didn t have any indication that anything was wrong, she had recently started seeing a new doctor who was very thorough. The doctor decided that she was going to test everything and that included GFR, a glomerular filtration rate, that is part of a blood test I would have taken anyway, plus a urine test, she explains. The doctor told her that she had a problem and immediately sent her to a nephrologist, a doctor specializing in kidneys. Rae-Garwood was diagnosed with stage B chronic kidney disease. The teacher and actress, who has since retired, adopted immediate lifestyle changes. I had to speak to a renal dietician right away, says Rae-Garwood. I had to learn about different electrolytes and had to limit my potassium, phosphorous, sodium and protein. Additionally, she became educated on different foods she could and couldn t eat, and the importance of adequate sleep and exercise along with reduced stress. She started a blog where she explores all things related to chronic kidney disease. In addition to her first novel titled, Portal in Time, Rae-Garwood has written several books about chronic kidney disease, including The Book of Blogs Moderate Stage Chronic idney isease, Part 2, SlowIt ownC 2015, and SlowIt ownC 2016. 6 Jun
2018
azhealthandliving.com
She is currently working on her seventh book about the disease. Most of the kidney books except the first one are a year s worth of blogs, Rae-Garwood says. The push right now is for primary care physicians to automatically include GFR testing in routine blood tests, and include a urine sample every time, says Rae-Garwood. She shares that the tests are not expensive and can indicate if someone potentially has kidney disease. She adds, The medical community and advocates like me are also urging pharmacists to keep an eye out for people with diabetes or hypertension, which are the two leading causes of chronic kidney disease, and urge those people to get tested. Rae-Garwood also explains that, surprisingly, there is no renal disease rotation in medical school until a student gets into specialty school.
Rae-Garwood says, Thirty-one million people in the United States have chronic kidney disease and ninety percent of them are unaware of it. She also explains that, according to statistics for Maricopa County, 20 percent of residents are affected by the disease. That statistic is from a Medicare website, so those are just the ones that Medicare is taking care of and doesn t include those who haven t been diagnosed yet, she says. The Native American population in Arizona also has a high rate of chronic kidney disease. Rae-Garwood says she is alarmed by the statistics and that there really hasn t been much of spotlight put onto the issue. The author is honored to be taking part in an upcoming chronic kidney disease awareness event. Rae-Garwood explains, A pharmaceutical company has asked me to come to Chicago. They want to know how they can better serve the chronic kidney disease community. Additionally, the Association of American idney Patients
is having a member meeting in Florida this une and she will also be traveling to join the annual meeting for the first time. The lifestyle changes I made have slowed down the progression of the decline of my kidney function, says Rae-Garwood. I believe without these lifestyle changes, I might be at stage , where they talk dialyses, or stage 5, where they talk kidney transplant.

p Regardless of gender, all humans produce the hormone testosterone. owever, men have much higher levels of testosterone than women. Testosterone is a chemical messenger that is responsible for the development of male sexual characteristics. In addition, testosterone helps regulate muscle size and strength, red blood cell production, bone mass and fat distribution. As men age, their testosterone levels begin to dip. Although a natural result of aging, lower testosterone levels, also called hypogonadism, can contribute to any number of side effects - some of which men can find interrupt their quality of life. The medical resource Healt line says that testosterone starts to decrease after age 0, falling by 1 percent for each year thereafter. Some men may even suffer from low testosterone called low-T , which is the underproduction or lack of production of this hormone. Typically, this is linked to chronic medical conditions, such as obesity, diabetes and other hormonal conditions. Although not all men will experience low-T, learning to recognize its signs and symptoms can help those who develop the condition address it that much more quickly. Changes in sexual function resulting from low-T can include decreased libido/ desire, inability to have or maintain erections, fewer spontaneous erections and infertility. Since testosterone is linked to healthy sperm production, lower levels may reduce the number of healthy sperm or their mobility.
p Sleep disturbances may be linked to low-T. These can include trouble falling asleep or frequent waking.
Emotional changes may be a byproduct of lower testosterone or feelings of helplessness over a seemingly irreversible condition. Fatigue, low selfconfidence, sadness, depression, and even trouble concentrating are possible. The Urinary Care Foundation says that low-T is quite common. Roughly four out of 10 men over the age of 5 have low testosterone. ow-T also affects two out of 10 men over the age of 60 and three out of 10 men over the age of 0.
Men with low-T may suffer from increased body fat coupled with decreased energy levels that can make exercise less appealing. Weight gain - particularly in the abdominal area - may also occur in conjunction with a condition called gynecomastia, which is swollen or tender breasts.
If symptoms of low-T prove bothersome, testosterone replacement therapy or TRT, may be prescribed. These include skin gels, shots, long-acting pellets, patches and pills. The American Urological Association suggests discussing the pros and cons of TRT with a doctor who is skilled in diagnosing low-T. TRT should not be used by men planning to become a father anytime soon.
ther physical changes can include reduced muscle bulk and strength. ecreased bone mass or mineral density is also possible.
Although some people feel that TRT can help them feel more vigorous and younger, the Mayo Clinic says there are no distinctive studies that point to those results.

Many people can recognize the telltale signs of urinary tract infections because of past experiences with this common condition. Burning while urinating, feelings of a full bladder, urinary urgency, back pain, and nausea all may be symptomatic of an UTI. People suffering from UTIs may be surprised to learn that symptoms can be reduced with some tried and true methods. UTIs can occur in both men and women. The Cleveland Clinic indicates that, while women are more likely to suffer from a UTI, UTIs that afflict men are typically more complicated than those that affect women. UTIs affect 50 percent of women, who can blame anatomy for this high incidence. The urethra where urine exits is shorter and closer to the anus in women, making contact with E. coli from stool more likely in women than in men. In addition, bacteria may congregate near the vagina, also contributing to UTIs. In men, many UTIs are due to something that blocks urination, namely kidney stones and an enlarged prostate. Acute bacterial prostatitis is another common cause. UTIs can occur in any part of the urinary system, including the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Many infections involve the lower urinary tract, states The Mayo Clinic. Bacteria that enter the urinary tract through the urethra are to blame for these infections, and the bacteria can quickly multiply in the bladder leading to a full-blown infection. Although the body's immune system is designed to prevent UTIs, there are ways people can improve their chances of avoiding a UTI by keeping bacteria out of the body. WebM advises drinking plenty of water to flush bacteria out of the bladder and urinary tract before it can set in and multiply. Staying hydrated also promotes frequent emptying of the bladder. Stagnant fluid conditions help bacteria to proliferate. This is exactly what can occur by waiting too long to use the bathroom.
p
p
Women are urged to wipe from front to back to keep bacteria away from the urethra.
Bacteria can be introduced into the urinary tract through sexual intercourse. According to the Glickman Urological Institute, urinating before and after intercourse can help keep bacteria from finding its way into the body.
p Medscape says bathwater can quickly become contaminated by the bather's own skin florae. Sitting in a tub may allow bacteria to reach the bladder opening. Tight undergarments, especially those made of nonbreathable materials, can cause moisture retention and bacterial accumulation near the urethra. Also, change out of wet workout clothes or swimsuits promptly for the same reasons.
p
p Cranberries contain
proanthocyanidins, which are thought to prevent bacteria from sticking to the bladder. Not all cranberry supplements contain the same amount of proanthocyanidins, so efficacy varies. Urinary tract infections can be painful and troublesome. But emphasizing hygiene and taking other measures can help prevent UTIs. a hea thand i ing com

p p We ve all had that time when we flubbed a first impression. That time when we were set to meet someone for the first time and something went really wrong. Perhaps it was the poppyseeds in the teeth from the morning bagel r a skirt tucked into the pantyhose at the back, revealing more than you ever intended r the piece of toilet paper dragging on the bottom of your shoe It s all fodder for a standup comedy act. But a bad first impression doesn t have to be the result of something as major as the skirt in the pantyhose. It can stem from something as simple as terrible listening skills or negative body language. Read on a for a few tips on making a good impression, with some specific suggestions for those times when you are most likely to need them.
Tell me if there is anything worse than someone who isn t listening when you re speaking to them ou can tell from the look on their face that they re working out what to say next and it will probably have no bearing on what you ve been saying whatsoever. r they are thinking about what they re going to have for lunch. Either way, it doesn t make a solid first impression.
A great way to make a good first impression is to be engaged. istening to what the person in front of you is saying and responding to it accordingly. Parrot back some of their words, so that they know that you have heard them and ask them relevant questions, which incites them to keep talking. The thing most people want most in the world is to be heard. If they didn t, Facebook and Twitter wouldn t have a leg to stand on as social media platforms.
In the same vein as active listening is body language. We say a lot without saying a word when we meet someone, particularly someone new. The non-verbal cues that the other person picks up from us are just as important as the verbal ones. For example, not shaking hands with someone who offers theirs and if they don t offer, not offering yours, can be taken as a snub. aving your arms folded across your chest while someone is talking might seem comfortable for you, but to others, it has the appearance of negativity, of a closed mind to what they are saying. It can even appear aggressive. Facial expressions are part of body language. Some of us have what s known as resting bitch face. This is where our normal face looks sad or mad, even when that s not what we re feeling at all. If you ve been told you have that, be aware of it when you re meeting new people. Make an effort to avoid it. Good eye contact is another great way to make sure that your first impression is a good one. Eye contact is a positive, engaged reaction to someone else. ooking over their shoulder, at the floor or worse, at some part of their body, is not.
The old adage says that you should always stay away from religion and politics. In this day and age, that s probably truer than it s ever been before. There are certain topics that should be off limits until you know someone fairly well. Pontificating your views on touchy issues can lead quickly to a negative impression. Assuming things about the person you re meeting is also fraught. Example you don t want to talk about the senior s discount at the shop you re standing in front of with someone who MIG T not be a senior 3

So, what s safe, besides the weather It s always safe to ask the other person about themselves. Most people like to talk about something they know a lot about and what better topic is there than oneself It will also give you the chance to pick up on something they have said and expand on it, using those active listening skills, all while you are maintaining good eye contact and after a vigorous handshake. ust don t ask what do you do or one of the other standard conversation nonstarters see below Instead, you can ask things like So, what should I know about you that I can t read about on your inkedIn profile

If you re at a new job, ask about the best part of their week so far. If they re not talkative about themselves, avoid asking the same benign questions that people always ask. p Graduating from high school is a significant milestone in the lives of young people. The next step for many teenagers after graduating from high school is to go off to college. But before teens make their way to college campuses, some may celebrate their graduations by traveling overseas without parental supervision for the first time. Whether it's through a school-sponsored program or a graduation gift, overseas trips can be life-changing experiences for young people. oing so without mom and dad in tow allows them to experience the sense of independence they will soon enjoy as college students. While teenagers may look forward to traveling abroad, the parents they'll leave behind will no doubt experience some anxiety as their children travel thousands of miles away. But parents can take certain steps to reduce that anxiety without making trips less enjoyable for their sons and daughters. Thanks to social media, parents no longer need to sit at home imagining what their wandering youngsters are doing in foreign countries. When sending children on overseas trips, parents can purchase international service for their children's phones so kids have access to social media websites and apps via their phones. Parents can then communicate with their children through such apps, asking kids to check in at the end of each day through direct messaging. or the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, is free to U.S. citizens and nationals. Sponsored by the U.S. epartment of State, the service is invaluable to overseas travelers who, once enrolled, will receive important information about safety conditions from the embassy in their destination countries. It also makes it easier for embassies to contact travelers in case of emergencies like natural disasters, civil unrest or family emergencies.
p
Before teens head overseas, parents should make multiple copies of important travel documents, including passports, travel itineraries, travel reservations i.e., flight, hotel, etc. , and any bank and/or credit cards teens will be using while overseas. This can help local authorities track travelers who have gone missing or help those travelers who have been victimized by thieves or criminals. eep a copy of these documents at home and give teens a copy of each document to take with them as well. 3

Parents no doubt know their children's medical histories backward and forward, but teenagers may not be so familiar, and, even if they are that familiarity won't be too useful if kids are unconscious. Create a file that documents your child's medical history, including all medications the child takes and any allergies he or she has, and make sure kids travel with it at all times. Medical practitioners overseas will find this invaluable if they need to treat teens. Before kids head off, parents should have a lengthy discussion about safe travel and the importance of obeying laws in their destination countries. Make sure youngsters know to avoid walking alone at night and to resist strangers' offers of food or drinks. In addition, teenagers should abstain from consuming alcohol even if it's legal for them to do so in their destination countries, as their low tolerance for alcohol can put them in precarious positions. verseas travel can change the lives of young people for the better. But parents of teens traveling abroad without parental supervision for the first time should work with their children to ensure they're safe for the duration of their trips.

When the time comes for parents to leave the hospital and take their newborns home, new moms and dads take on different roles. Moms who are nursing or handling the bulk of the bottle-feeding while spending a few months on maternity leave may appear to have more opportunities than fathers to bond with their new babies. But there are many ways for new dads to bond with newborns as well.
p Pediatrician avid ill, author of the book Between Us ads A Father's Guide to Child ealth, says bonding between father and newborn has as much to do with contact as involvement. Many first-time parents are understandably nervous about holding their newborns, who seem so fragile. But newborns benefit from being held, and ill notes that a bond will develop between father and baby if there is physical contact. p Because newborns spend so much time being nursed and sleeping, fathers may feel as though they don't have much time to spend with their babies each day. But any time spent with a newborn can be a time for fathers to develop bonds with their children. Time spent changing diapers can prove to be a great time for fathers to bond with their newborns. Make eye contact with babies while changing their diapers, as Psych Central, an independent mental health social network run by mental health professionals, notes that babies have a preference for eye contact. p
p Nursing mothers
may feel inclined to wake up with their newborns in the middle of the night and let dad keep sleeping. But babies are not necessarily waking up in the middle of the night due to hunger. Some might simply need to be comforted, and dads can comfort their children just like moms can, all the while strengthening their developing bond. azhealthandliving.com |Jun 2018

Men with belly fat may see their growing stomachs as a chiefly cosmetic concern that affects their appearance but not their overall health. But researchers are learning a lot about belly fat, including just how dangerous it can be. According to a recent study published in the Journal o t e merican ollege o ardiology, increasing stomach fat is associated with worsening heart disease risk factors, including high blood pressure. Research into fat and its connection to heart disease is ongoing, but evidence suggests that fat in the abdominal cavity is particularly dangerous.
Belly fat does not include just subcutaneous fat, or the layer of padding just below the skin. ne of the biggest threats posed by belly fat is that it also includes visceral fat that surrounds the internal organs. arvard Medical School notes that visceral fat lies deep inside the abdominal cavity, padding the space between a person's abdominal organs. This type of fat has been linked to metabolic disturbances and increased risk for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.
The term beer belly might suggest that only men who drink excessive amounts of beer are at risk of developing unhealthy amounts of belly fat. While drinking too much beer is unhealthy and will result in more belly fat, beer is not the only culprit. The Mayo Clinic notes that aging can play a role in the development of belly fat. Men, especially those who are not physically active, naturally lose muscle as their bodies age. That loss of muscle mass decreases the rate at which the body uses calories, which can make it more difficult to maintain healthy weights and prevent belly fat from developing. That's one reason why the ffice of isease Prevention and ealth Promotion advises men in their 50s to consume roughly 200 fewer calories per day than they did when they were in their 0s. A poor diet also can contribute to belly fat. When choosing protein sources, men should forgo red meat, which can be high in saturated fat. arvard Medical School notes that other healthful sources of protein include chicken, turkey, nuts, beans and whole grains. But even the healthiest diets won't do much to reduce or 36 Jun

prevent belly fat if men also don't control their portion sizes. When dining out, men can share plates or decide in advance to eat half their meals and take the rest home. When eating at home, men should not feel obligated to fill or empty their plates. Feeling full or uncomfortable after eating is indicative of overeating. Avoid that feeling and cut down on belly fat by eating healthy portions of healthy foods.
Men concerned about belly fat can measure their bellies and discuss belly size with their physicians. The Mayo Clinic offers the following guidelines to measure belly size Stand and place a tape measure around your bare stomach, just above your hip bone. Pull the tape measure until it fits snugly around you but doesn't push into your skin. Make sure the tape measure is level all the way around. Relax, exhale and measure your waist. stomach.

A waist measurement greater than 0 inches indicates an unhealthy amount of belly fat that can increase a man's risk for heart disease. Belly fat might mistakenly be viewed as a cosmetic concern, but the consequences of excess belly fat affect far more than a man's appearance.
How Men Can Benefit from Yoga
A 2012 survey from oga Journal found that, among the 20 million yoga practitioners in the United States, only 1 percent were men. While those figures might have risen in recent years, anyone who has recently visited a yoga studio can attest that the participants in many classes remain overwhelmingly female. That's unfortunate for men, who could be benefitting from practicing yoga in myriad ways. p oga requires various muscle groups to work together to perform certain exercises. This can reduce the risk of muscle imbalances that can develop when men design workout routines that target specific muscle groups. p When performed correctly, various yoga exercises improve flexibility. For example, the big toe pose can help men and women lengthen and strengthen their hamstrings, while the downward facing dog pose stretches various areas of the body, including the shoulders, calves and arches. oga is not the only way for men to improve their flexibility, but it can be an effective supplement to exercise routines for men who routinely feel tight after traditional strength training sessions. p Numerous studies have indicated the positive effects yoga can have on muscle endurance. In 2005, researchers at the University of Wisconsin, a Crosse, found that the regular practice of atha yoga provided a significant boost to chest and abdominal strength and endurance. Such improved stamina can have a trickle-down effect on men who practice yoga and also adhere to strength training regimens and/or participate in competitive sports. p The arvard Medical School notes that researchers discovered that people who practiced yoga for at least 0 minutes once a week for at least four years gained less weight during middle adulthood than those who did not. That might be linked to additional research that found people who practiced yoga were more mindful eaters than those who did not, making them less likely to overeat, eat when sad or stressed or eat in response to certain cues, including the smell of food. azhealthandliving.com |Jun 2018

A. A common misconception about hearing A. P TS stands for postural orthostatic aids is that they are all the same, and only the price matters. There are two other components that must be taken into account hearing technology that best treats the hearing loss and the provider who is fitting the devices and providing services. What is appropriate hearing technology There are different styles, shapes and functions of these devices. They are designed to best fit specific hearing losses, where one device will sound better and provide maximum audibility for someone with a certain amount of hearing loss but would not be satisfactory for another person. Additionally, there are devices that are custom fit in the ear, versus ones that sit behind the ear. Why would this matter The anatomy of someone s ear or the severity of loss may dictate what device would provide better results. earing technology is not that complicated, right That is why utilizing an audiologist who is properly trained in these factors is important. They are there to fit the hearing devices following best practice guidelines, and to ensure the devices are appropriately set to the hearing loss and maximize audibility. The professional fitting the devices and providing the services is just as important and has as much value as the devices themselves. At the end of the day, a hearing aid that is cheap and does not meet one s needs is a wasted investment. earing aids are an investment in one's quality of life, in conversations and relationships.

o does obesit disordered breathing
induce s ee
A. besity-induced sleep-disordered breathing has fat collecting around the neck and abdominal area, putting pressure on the airway as well as the lungs, thus making it difficult for the body to breathe. The most likely candidates are middle aged and elderly males, who gain weight primarily in the neck and abdomen. This type of weight gain is dictated by testosterone. Similar weight gain occurs in women who are entering menopause, have hormonal imbalances or are pregnant. Weight gain has also been linked to insulin production, glucose intolerance, diabetes and metabolic disorders. While metabolic disorders, hormonal imbalances, and physiological changes such as menopause create difficult conditions for weight loss, research shows that weight loss significantly reduces sleep-disordered breathing problems. A 2002 study conducted by the University of Wisconsin and the Boston University School of Medicine identified obesity as one of a list of risk factors that, if reduced or eliminated, would decrease the severity of a sleep-disordered breathing problem. If you wake up tired in the morning, suffer from headaches, snore, experience gastro esophageal reflux, depression, any kind of cardiovascular or pulmonary disease, and you are overweight, I highly suggest a neck circumference measurement and a body mass index BMI calculation. A neck circumference measurement of 1 inches or greater in men and 16 inches or greater in women and a BMI calculation greater than 25 is a good indication of a possible sleepdisordered breathing problem. –Dr. Croft Vistancia Orthodontics 623.566.0800 azhealthandliving.com | Jun 201

Forms of ocular disease and blindness have been reported in nearly every type of animal, ranging from fish, to birds, and of course, mammals. In many practices, species of all types, including exotics and members of the local zoo are treated, but often the most common species are the companion mammals dogs, cats and horses. Practices cover a wide umbrella of issues, such as cherry eye, dry eye, entropion, corneal ulcers, cataracts, retinal disease, glaucoma, and even cancer of the eye and orbit. Please consider an evaluation if signs of ocular pain or blindness are noted. Redness, cloudiness, squinting, tearing, rubbing, and excessive discharge are all abnormal. vert changes with vision should be addressed as this could signal a problem beyond the eye itself such as a neurologic disorder or even a alley Fever infection. time in recorded history, obesity threatens to reduce life expectancy from both chronic and acute diseases including cardiovascular disease, stroke, dyslipidemia, cancer, hypertension and diabetes. ue to these alarming statistics, the demand for an early and accurate understanding lends to prevention, and/or diagnosis and proper management of obesity and obesity-related health risks.
Tickle ipo is unique in that it generates a -dimensional vibration that breaks up fat. After the fat has been emulsified, it can then be removed with smaller, safer cannulas. Some patients have commented that they are tickled during the procedure due to the vibratory motion. Thus, the name Tickle ipo.

or product is, if you don't advertise, nobody will know. The goal of advertising should be to cost effectively reach the largest audience possible to attract new patients/ customers. If done correctly, advertising can be a wonderful investment if done poorly, advertising can become financially draining.
ere are four tips to start a successful advertising plan . Go after your target audience; in t e right places! No product or service will appeal to everyone. o research to understand who your audience is and determine what they read, watch and listen to. Find your market and be everything you can be to that audience. 2. Highlight your competitive advantage what makes you unique? Find your competitive edge. Too many ads highlight all the features and services and fail to sell their specific benefits. Unless you highlight these benefits, how can you deliver value to potential patients/customers
3. Establish your image. ou have a car full of hungry kids and there are only two places to stop for lunch you recognize the Mc onald s arches but you have never heard of the other place. Where will you stop Image counts don t lose a chance to make an impression. 4. You have to spend money to make money. Advertising is not the place to cut corners. oing so affects the bottom line. Successful advertising may cost some money, but that is because it works.

Micellar water is an increasingly popular beauty trend that many are touting as a potential replacement for cleaning and moisturizing supplies. Those who are unfamiliar with micellar water may wonder how it can revamp their wellness routines. The story behind micellar water begins with a cursory lesson in chemistry. Micelles are chemical structures that contain both hydrophilic and hydrophobic structures. ydrophilic parts will mix in with water and hydrophobic repel water and are also lipophilic, meaning they like to absorb oils. Micelles form when there is an ideal temperature in the medium. In the case of micellar water, this is the water itself and a certain concentration of electrolytes, referred to as the Critical Micelle Concentration. According to the beauty science resource ab Muffin, a micelle is essentially a ball-shaped cluster of a bunch of surfactant molecules. Surfactants are the important ingredients in soaps, detergents and shampoos. They help make oils and makeups soluble in water. Micellar water has the viscosity of water and it looks like water. But when feeling micellar water, people can tell that it feels softer and has a different texture than water. The idea is that water-loving head of the micelle will adhere to the water and cleansing cotton, while the oil-absorbing tail of the micelles are attracted to dirt and oil and can draw out impurities in the skin. But micellar water is gentler than many surfactants used in cleansers, so it will work without irritation or drying out the skin. That is why it is often marketed as a facial wash, moisturizer and makeup remover all in one. According to dermatologist and Simple brand skincare expert r. ebra uftman, micellar water is safe for all skin types and is designed to be used without having to wash off the product afterward. It may not work well on waterproof mascara or other stubborn eye makeup, and people with oily skin may find it isn't thorough at removing all oil. Micelle tails can only hold on to so much grime therefore, it may take a few fresh passes to get skin extra clean. azhealthandliving.com |Jun 2018

The based-on-a-true-story logline As free-spirited sailors Tami ldham Woodley and Richard Sharp Claflin set out on a journey across the ocean, they couldn t anticipate that they would be sailing directly into one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history, according to Deadline Hollywood. In the aftermath of the storm, Tami awakens to find Richard badly injured and their boat in ruins. With no hope for rescue, Tami must find the strength and determination to save herself and the only man she has ever loved. While Adrift hits theaters, Woodley continues to work on season 2 of Big ittle ies. This season, she ll be working opposite ollywood Meryl Streep. She s fantastic. She s as lovely as you would assume her to be, Woodley told Us magazine about working with Streep. It s bananas, working with Meryl. In addition to her multiple acting gigs, Woodley is known for being an activist, supporting several charitable causes. ne such cause empowering youth in fact, she founded her own nonprofit called All It Takes in 2010. Shailene and her mom ori founded All It Takes to empower youth leaders and teach adolescents to practice honor, acceptance, compassion and respect and to strive for positive change among their peers, family members, society and the environment, according to entertainment website JustJared.com. No matter what character I ever embody, it s always just a different shade of myself. So everything in life helps contribute to the characters I play, because without all the layers of my own inner awareness and my own inner mindfulness surrounding my psychology and how I operate, then I wouldn t be able to play characters, Woodley told Us magazine. So hearing people s stories, and working with the youth, and understanding why they feel lonely, or confused, or lost, or disassociated with those around them, only helps me relate to my own inner shadow of recognizing how I compartmentalize those things within myself, especially on a show like Big ittle ies. p eciding to leave a job is seldom an easy decision. owever, it's a more common decision than many people may know, as the U.S. Bureau of abor Statistics indicates the average worker holds 10 different jobs before age 0. People change jobs for a variety of reasons. Some do so because of better opportunities elsewhere, while others simply need a change. Regardless of what's motivating a job change, leaving a place of employment can elicit various emotions, including some that may contribute to negative thoughts about a current employer. But it's always best to leave a job gracefully, which can pay dividends down the road. The following are seven strategies people can employ as they leave their jobs to ensure those exits go as smoothly as possible. It's best to keep resignation plans to yourself and off social media. ou never know who is reading your posts and bad-mouthing a soon-to-be-former employer can lead to hurt feelings and poor references. Resist the urge to rant about what's making you unhappy at work or brag about a new position to your social network. our employer may have a plan in place for how the company prefers resignations to be handled. The standard two to three weeks notice is a guideline. isit with human resources if you need more information, such as whether or not a resignation letter or other documentation is required.

It's respectful for your immediate manager or supervisor to learn of your departure first. This gives him or her ample time to put a plan in place to fill your position. The more notice you can give, the more goodwill you're building on your way out the door. Schedule a meeting for this purpose do not make it an informal chat by the water cooler. Resist the urge to quit via email or text. Resigning requires face-to-face communication. Present a concise letter of resignation as well. on't call out colleagues or air your grievances in the letter.

SENIOR LIVING
Many people take their vision for granted until a problem arises that affects their ability to see. While certain conditions may occur suddenly, others develop more gradually and may not even be noticeable until the problem has progressed significantly. Cataracts is a common vision problem that is often associated with aging. The National Eye Institute says that, by age 0, more than half of all Americans either have a cataract or have had cataract surgery. Prevent Blindness America says there are more cases of cataracts worldwide than there are of glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy combined. The American ptometric Association defines a cataract as a cloudy or opaque area in the normally clear lens of the eye. epending on its size, cataracts can interfere with normal vision. They typically occur in people over the age of 55. A cataract can be present in one or both eyes. The lens is responsible for helping to focus light or an image on the retina. In a healthy lens, fluid and protein is arranged in a precise way that keeps the lens clear, offers NEI. owever, as one ages, the protein may clump together and start to cloud a small area of the lens. ver time, this clouding may grow. Researchers also suspect there are other causes to cataracts, such as smoking or diabetes. In addition, wear and tear on the lens can develop into cataract clouding. Significant alcohol consumption, U radiation, eye surgery, and high myopia also may contribute to cataract formation.
The Mayo Clinic advises that there are no known methods to prevent cataracts or slow their progression. But choosing a healthy diet full of antioxidants, quitting bad habits like smoking, managing diabetes, and having regular eye examinations can help. It's also a good idea to wear sunglasses that block against U A and U B light when outdoors.
Nuclear cataract, which forms deep in the central zone of the lens and
Cataracts can cause blurring of vision and even make it difficult to see in bright conditions. Colors may seem faded night vision may be adversely affected and glare may be problematic. The A A says that early cataracts typically are not treated and changes to prescriptions may provide temporary visual improvement. If a cataract progresses to the point that it affects one's ability to perform everyday tasks, surgery in which an artificial lens replaces the natural lens may be necessary.
Cortical cataract, which starts as white opacities in the periphery of the lens and then grows inward.

Unemployment isn't easy for anyone, regardless of their age. But unemployed men and women over 50 may find it especially difficult to find work. Whether it's a byproduct of age-related discrimination or any of a host of additional variables, jobless older workers often struggle to find work. In a 2016 analysis of government figures, the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis at the New School estimated that the jobless rate for workers 55 and older in August 2016, six years after the Great Recession, was nearly 9 percent. At the time, the national jobless rate hovered around 5 percent. Unemployed men and women over 50 who are struggling to find work can consider the following strategies as they look to rejoin the workforce. Revisit your resume. Unemployed men and women over 50 have no doubt updated their resumes to reflect their most recent professional experience. But they may need to trim some of the fat in regard to their work life 10 or more years ago. Today's hiring managers may only be concerned with recent experience that illustrates skillsets that are relevant to today's jobs. Men and women over 50 may consider their experience from 20 years ago invaluable, but if that experience does not meet the specific needs of the jobs they're now seeking, then they should remove it from their resumes so hiring managers can quickly access the more relevant information from their work histories. Embrace 21st century job hunting. Finding a job in the second decade of the 21st century is unlike job hunting in decades prior, and wholly different from how men and women over 50 looked for jobs upon beginning their professional lives. Networking can mean the difference between unemployment and landing a job. Go to job fairs attended by hiring managers and join professional
organizations that host events where professionals in your field can gather. Make use of your existing down time. Another strategy unemployed men and women over 50 can try as they look for work is to make better use of their existing downtime. Enrolling in online courses can give prospective employers the impression that applicants over 50 are both tech-savvy and willing to learn new things. Each of those things can help men and women over 50 overcome any unjustified, tech-related stigmas that hiring managers may attach to older job candidates. Finding work after 50 is not always easy, and job seekers may need to adjust their approach before they can get back in the workforce. a hea thand i ing com | Jun 2018
