Opening Act
from November 2018
Obstacles can come in many shapes and forms. Mental. Physical. Real. Imagined. Many times we allow our boundaries to be anchored by what we have been told is possible. Conventional wisdom. Herd thought mentality that's taken as fact. There are a few who break free of these chains and ask "why not?"; Or, more importantly, they don't even ask the question but merely push through the barriers. Print's dead, the numbers say so, yet here it is Vol. 13. Sure it's not getting any easier, but that isn't to say we can't overcome the obstacles. Snow and skate? It's still here but with a bit of a different take. They say social media killed print, but we just took it as a tool to create a new version of ourselves. Two decades ago this ollie by Shylio Sweat from photographer Weston Colton would have seemed impossible, yet boundaries have been pushed, barriers were broken, and progress made. Five years ago they said we were dead, but we kept pushing. You keep pushing too.
