Thank you
for helping raise $520,000+ for Arkansas Children’s!
W
hile this was possibly our most challenging year to date, we could not be prouder of our Circle of Friends
chapters around the state for raising more than $520,000 for the children of Arkansas and beyond. Even in the midst of a pandemic, the need for expert care from Arkansas’ only pediatric health system remains. As we paused fundraising, we put the health and safety of our families and communities first. We used this time to reflect on our mission, recharge and get creative as we continue to face these challenges in the coming year. Circle of Friends was built on the grassroots efforts of dedicated and passionate local community members like you. Together, we continue our favorite traditions today. Thank you, friends of Arkansas Children’s, for your continued support of our local chapters. Now, more than ever, as we navigate through a challenging fundraising time, the safety and health of our children is our number one priority.

O
n behalf of Arkansas Children’s, thank you for everything you do to advance our mission. Your work as part of a Circle of Friends (COF) chapter is critical. Since 1983, when a group of dedicated volunteers in Harrison gathered
to discuss raising funds and awareness for Arkansas Children’s, the COF grassroots movement grew quickly into a statewide network of volunteers. Over the years, COF has raised more than $17 million for the children of Arkansas and beyond. The strength and power of COF comes from the unyielding commitment of members like you. Thank you for being a champion for children.

OUR WORK TOGETHER Statewide Network of Care Thanks to fundraising efforts like yours, Arkansas Children’s has worked to transform the way healthcare is delivered to the 703,000 children in our state over the last five years. We opened Arkansas Children‘s Northwest to provide access to care close to home for the more than 211,000 children in the Northwest Arkansas region. We expanded our clinic in Jonesboro, offering more specialties and testing. We formed the Nursery Alliance to address infant mortality and provide support to newborn nurseries and neonatal intensive care units across Arkansas. And, we expanded dental outreach and programs throughout the Delta and southern region of our state.
Child Advocacy & Public Health Because of your investment, the Child Advocacy and Public Health division at Arkansas Children’s led more than 40 programs—from dental outreach and injury prevention to providing resources for health-related legal needs—throughout the state. Together, we are improving the health of Arkansas’ children through better access to care, public health programs, and partnerships with schools and communities.
Kid’s Care After-Hours Resource Line Thanks to your support, the Kid’s Care After-Hours Resource Line fielded more than 3,790 calls from the Circle of Friends Clinic and General Pediatric Clinic in FY20. This resource line ensures parents and caregivers have access to expert pediatric care no matter the time of day or night. Thank you!
Arkansas Children’s Research Institute Your generosity fuels innovative research at the Arkansas Children’s Research Institute (ACRI). In February, a drug pioneered at ACRI to treat peanut allergies was approved by the Food and Drug Administration, a first of its kind. And in July, ACRI pediatric researchers received more than $1.2 million from the National Institutes of Health for a five-year study that looks at the impact of exposure to a chemical often found in U.S. water systems. Groundbreaking research like this is possible thanks to your hard work on behalf of Arkansas Children’s.
Circle of Friends Clinic Because of your visionary leadership, the Circle of Friends Clinic continues to serve the children of Arkansas. Last year, the clinic saw more than 43,482 patient visits. Your support of the Circle of Friends Clinic gives children and families convenient access to expert pediatric care.
Because of you, the children of Arkansas and beyond are better today and will be healthier tomorrow.
